A few minor inaccuracies: Not all associates are runts, lowest of the low. Some are multi millionaires, important crime figures who made entire careers working closely to the mob, being more important than some bosses. Sure, within the official ranks of La Cosa Nostra, you’re nothing. But in reality, you can be a king. You also do not have to kill anyone, necessarily, to join the mafia. It used to be industry standard, but it was never a 100% requirement. As several made men has said “there weren’t enough hits to go around”. Other than that, great video.
John Gotti, probably the most notorious mob boss right behind Al Capone, was never officially linked to any murders. It's widely believed he never pulled the trigger. Now of course he ordered many hits. But it's rumored he may have popped Tommy DiSimone (joe pesci goodfellas) in retaliation for what was done to Billy Bats who was not only a Gambino but also close friends with John. But still, never proven he actually killed anyone.

Despite what J. Edgar Hoover and Jake Tran said, the Italian mobsters never called thamselves "la Coso Nostra." They called themselves "cosa nostra," Italian for "our thing" or "this thing of ours." In case anyone was wondering, the Broken Windows Fallacy is a refutation of the idea that regrowth following destruction will result in a net growth, especially with regards to war. There is also the Theory of Broken Windows that says that the proliferation of neglect and minor crimes will foster an atmosphere of lawlessness, i.e. if there's broken windows and grafitti, people will think they are in a lawless environment. I'm not really sure what either has to do with shakedown rackets, though.

As Italian, I totally agree with what's being here! Your channel is growing so well, it's great source of inspiration for me and my channel :) keep making great videos like this one :)
THANKS MAN!!
@@jaketran thank you. I have evolved as you did but with so much less success so far. Started by emulating Graham, then decided to deliver my own personal finance content, yet to great traction so far...
Could you do a video on the Yakuza. At one point they had such a infamous reputation the police didn’t want to touch them
3:27 That's not what the Broken Window Fallacy is at all! The broken window fallacy has to do with Keynesianism and the mistaken idea that spending leads to economic growth. Break all the windows you want, replacing those windows is not growth, that's just getting back to where you were before. You're worse off than you were before.
That's why its the anti-business. Capitalism = endless growth feeds the format

^ Holy fk, that escalated quickly :D
Dude just hooked me up with some dope captions
OH YES! I always wanted like a detailed video on this! Every since my fascination with the Mafia and thier hows.
About time we need a 'Mafia of Economics' rather than 'Economics of Mafia' to get us out of current recession.
Make something about the Chinese or Japanese or any other asian mobs. We don't really get a lot of them here.
The triad and yakuza
Obligatory FIRSTTTT!!!!
Seriously tho, keep up the good work dude. Educating the world, one criminal step at a time.
Oh good job I wanted to read the comments but whoop
i was 6 minutes before you. I agree tho.
They had us in the first half ngl
one criminal at a time 🙏
I've only discovered this channel in the past 2 weeks or so, but it is definitely in my top 3 for favorite UA-cam channels on this site.
This video should be called "that's how mafia works"
Thank you for this, for the longest I was wondering how I can get involved with the mafia. This video is great insight on how, much appreciated
@AGENT COCKROACH Simply not true
The Editing of this video is AMAZING
When you do the omerta video it should probably be a topic of how to keep people loyal, or something along those lines.
who is disliking this early, they must have notifications on...
IKR LOL
bots
Man this channel is perfect. I recently stumbled upon this channel and love his content!
THANKS DUDE!!
last time i was this early jake tran wasn't on a watchlist
LMAO
Despite what J. Edgar Hoover and Jake Tran said, the Italian mobsters never called thamselves "la Coso Nostra." They called themselves "cosa nostra," Italian for "our thing" or "this thing of ours." There were also local variants, such as "the organization," "the office," "the family," "the arm," or "the outfit."
In the last section, the Underboss and the Consigliere are on the same level, with the Godfather above all. Great video otherwise, so much fun. Editing was spot-on.
To quote OverlySimplified: The problem with criminals is that they are criminals.
Bro let's go I'm Italian, nice guide btw
lmao! THANKS DUDE!!
Haha you think there are only Italian families or Italians always like other Italians? You have lots to learn about loyalty and culture. What "value" do you add ad the video remarks? Your Ma pleasured some Italian well that won't cut it in the business world kid. It's a "European" and global culture now anyway certain people know certain traditions others do not.

I am not even endorsing "the life" but don't romanticize something cause you say a few film clips on the internet yo. So what if you are Italian are you Catholic are you from a certain neighborhood do you know a guy who knows a guy etc.? Don't play if you don't know.
@@AnnaLVajda I hope you are 12, it's called a joke. Nobody thinks that being Italian = being a part of the mafia lol. And btw, I'm not a Christian, a Muslim or any of that shit
That was helpful ! Got my interview tomorrow. Wish me luck guys !
In all the mafia docs it's usually narrated by someone with a rough voice.
I think I like it more with Jake's Morgan Freemanesque movie type voice.
Jake has enough associates here. He doesn’t realize he’s already The Don
Great quality man!!!!
You’re wrong about the broken window theory. Btw.
Yeah that has to do with economic growth caused by destruction. But the economic growth isn't real because you're replacing what you already had
How is he wrong?
In case anyone was wondering, the Broken Windows Fallacy is a refutation of the idea that regrowth following destruction will result in a net growth, especially with regards to war.
Hey bro, could you do a video on the economics of paramilitaries? As someone who's lived in Northern Ireland all their life I could go on for ages about the stories you still hear about paramilitaries even if they have died down since the troubles. I think it would be an interesting subject for you to research. But hey, it's only a friendly suggestion, it's ok if you don't want to make a video like that!😉
This has to be my favourite video on UA-cam of all time
This was a GREAT video. Very understandable. Now I know the structure. Thank you!!
FBI caught me today,
And I showed them this video
This video is a true masterpiece
As always: A masterpiece of knowledge and insights presented in a well-edited, soothing video with the occasional hints of satire.
Salud, Jake!🍷
THANKS ALFONSO!
Well. That's it. I highly recommend that Jake keep releasing videos at a regular pace so when he stops suddenly and without warning we know he got whacked by the Mob for putting out this vid.
Mafia videos are excellent, super engaging. Can’t wait to see more.
The one thing all these videos have taught us is that morals are overrated
you get it
then try to scam people, i recommend with btc bcuz then you are untrackable
if you are lucky enough you will scam some father who are just trying to feed their families or some good people with charities. they are so patetic. imagine, some people doesnt steal, dont rob, dont kill people, trying to help others..haha fools, they shouldnt have morals
never apply morals on your enemies.
this reminds me of the movie "sicario" Emily clark tried to follow the non existing book in the world of wolves.
thanks this was very helpful. im writing a mafia book and i want the economics to be the most realistic part of it.
criminals: we don't like to talk about our past
Jake Tran: how about no
Plot twist: He is the mafia
I just watched the whole Sopranos series. Ending was amazing. I _need_ this content!!
Like you're style. Was hoping this would be more strictly "economics" but I was relieved it was not just a semi comedic commentary on the godfather which was my first impression.
Jake’s next plan: Organising his own discord mafia gang
Really interesting stuff, you earned my sub
“We’re soldiers, soldiers don’t go to hell. It’s war. Soldiers, they kill other soldiers.”
Is that Roman Griffin Davis in some of the footage? It looks like him, but I don't know what its from
Jake always had the makings of a varsity Mafia analyst.
ikr
That is not the broken window fallacy though i think you passed over it to quickly for people who don't know about it. Great video tho!
Great video but one small thing. Mafia bosses never call themselves The Godfather. That was only the in the film because Vito Corleone was actually a godfather to a few people. Mafia bosses normally go by “Don (Surname)”.
Definitely more vids like this glad I came across your channel
