Hi Xaviour.. It used to be 2 weeks to get Visitor Visa in Pre-COVID days if your application is 100% complete meaning you have given all the required details the Immigration NZ needs. I am not sure how long it is going to be POST-COVID time. Visitor Visa can be applied for 9 months. But you will need to take medical test if your stay is > 6 months. Else you will not need any medical test. Please find more details here

I donot advise to move you home atleast for an year until you are confident. Jobs are rare to be found. Once you find them , handle with care
