This is my Son, the Beloved. Homily for the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Year A.

Matthew’s account of the Transfiguration is looking backwards and forwards. Matthew tells the story against the backdrop of Moses on Mount Sinai, but it also anticipates the crucifixion. The glory of the Beloved Son is manifested on the cross.
