No, you don't explain why you are choosing the settings you are choosing. Some of your setting do not make any sense because they are not case by case specific.
I am a professional photographer, but I’ve been using my Sony A7iv As a part-time video rig and been learning to use Slog 3 and get into offering videography to clients for weddings and other things. So I decided to pull the trigger and purchase the FX 30 and use itmore as my A camera and my A7iv as my B camera. I just received the FX 30 yesterday and wow what difference in ecosystem and functions it offers compared to the normal Sony button and layout. I’ve been so used to. But you’re set up I decided to try out to be honest, going into the profile and switching it to neutral and then adjusting its features. I did not expect it to work out so good as a quick video profile to record on,. Well done I am really enjoying this profile and I actually saved it to one of my program settings that I can switch back-and-forth from Slog 3. Great video thank you for sharing.
I found this setup very helpful. I followed all of the instructions then took my FX30 to a nearby lake to video waterfowl using my Sony 200-600 mm zoom. I reviewed my clips on my 4K Oled 65 inch Panasonic Viera Television and the results were simply stunning. Some improvements I can make are as follows: I am going to get a cage for the camera so I can mount my Smallrig Follow Focus onto the FX30 and the long Sony zoom. Using Peaking and Manual focusing I will be able to achieve and maintain better focus than what I experienced with the autofocus. I did use the Sony Digital Microphone on the FX30 and it picked up the birdcalls very well. I am astonished at how well this camera performs at this price.
Why did you go with the picture profile option you chose and then went to creative to NT? Other people have recommended other settings and I'm trying to understand why you made those choices.
Hello. Great Video !! I need some help please. I have a new FX30 -- and my husband bought me a Sigma 18-50 mm F2.8 DC DN (C) F/L - Mount Lens . I figured out that I need to have an adapter or converter to attaché the two. I looked on Amazon and found a MC-11 that I thought might work but I called Sony and they said I needed to be sure I found a converter that worked for L mount since my sigma is L mount ( the box does not say L mount-- but the warranty card does say F/L mount at the end. Do you have suggestions at all? Thank you for all you do. I am apart of VRA and love all you guys !
hmm in the SD card section of description you mention 2 options. Why would I want to get the more expensive option, what benefit do I get? I'm thinking of getting option 2 with more storage capacity, no? Am I losing out on anything significant by going with option 2 if I'm just shooting talking head and product shots? 🤔
Cine ei isn’t a feature that exists in a lot of other cinema cameras. For people used to working with cinema cameras, cine ei really probably isn’t a consideration. For me, I’m mostly interested in the full size hdmi, internal fan, and timecode sync.
Yes, some settings may be transferable to the a6600, but the menu layout is different from the fx30. The color profile should work on the a6600, but it's recommended to explore the settings to determine compatibility. - Think Media Editor
Any exposure recommendations for locked off unattended b cam footage in an outdoor setting? With intermittent passing clouds the FX30 exposure hunts like crazy… almost unusable without knowing the best auto settings. The old A6300 was spot on every time. I just can’t run over and leave my FX6 on sticks unattended in windy event situations 😮
I am planning on buying the Fx30. I have a Mac book pro with the I5 Processor. Do you think I'll be able to edit videos with this laptop? or will I have to update my mac book as well?
I Don't know why people keep insisting on using 24P frame rate, this is a stupid frame rate, and i'll tell you why, every time your pan your camera a bit too fast it will jagger and skip around, and when set to 24P you can't move your camera very fast with out that happening. Also, i know people think oh it's a cinematic look, that is what the movies use. But these idiots don't really know why they use that and they are withering away from using 24P. First off using 24P goes way back a long time ago, they used 24 P for a couple reasons #1 less cost in film, before digital days film was expensive so they used 24P to use less film, #2 when movies was played on TV they had to use 24P because Tv Stations could not broadcast frame rates over 24P.. Also 24fps was chosen because of math; it is an easily divided number, and editors can work out specific time cuts based on the number of frames. Twelve frames would be half a second; six frames would be a quarter of a second, and so forth. But we are in the digital age we don't need 24p no cost for film and movies can be broadcasted over the internet at high frame rates.. these wannabe cinematographer's think if they shoot in 24p it will be like the movies and that would make them a cinematographer, (NOT) LOL today tons of moves are shot in 48P 60P 30P they are walking away from the old 24P. List of movies that didn't shoot in 24P The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (shot in 48P) Gemini Man (Shot in 60P) Avatar: The Way of Water (Shot in 48P) Night of Dreams (Shot in 60P) Titanic (Shot in 48P) Inland Empire (Shot in 60P) The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Shot in 48P) FlyOver Canada (Shot in 60P) Guys 60P actually looks more realistic and many movies are shot at that frame rate because #1 they can pan the camera faster with out glitches, #2 it looks way better. Don't shoot your stuff in 24P just because you think it has to be shot in 24P to look like a movie, shooting in 24P doesn't make you a great cinematographer or movie maker and it doesn't make your recorded video look more like a movie, it simply doesn't the movie companies didn't shoot in 24p to make it look like a movie they did this because of the reasons above that i stated because we didn't have the technology we have today, there just simply is no reason to shoot at a shit frame rate like 24P it sucks..

Great instructional video. Thanks a ton. Do you have any tips for shooting at 120fps outdoors on the FX30? Hasn't gone well for me so far. Thanks again!
Because you are probably in a country that shoots in PAL and not NTSC. In the USA cameras shoot in NTSC because of our broadcast standards. For other countries, cameras ship to consumers in PAL mode. Some cameras allow you to change your settings (in case of traveling to other countries). If you can change your camera into NTSC mode you’ll be able to see different frame rate options. Hope this helps!
If I set it to XAVC S4K the Rec Frane rate available is only 50p 25p and 100p. Why am I not getting 24p? Is it because I updated it to latest firmware? Please help.

Don’t understand why did you buy cinema line camera if you are not planning to use cine ei
The majority of us shoot in conditions where we don’t have perfect control over lighting. Simple as that lol
Plus the cooling features in this camera is a big plus as well.

Technically 24fps isn’t actually 24fps, it’s 23.96. But to make things easier, it’s just listed as 24fps.
