This was an amazing video! I made a two week trip from Jasper to BC back to Banff... and I was absolutely disgusted by the behavior of some tourists. In one such incident, there was a large group of people who approached a bull elk (with their children in tow) on the side of the road. I yelled at them, telling them "Get away from the elk. It is in rut. Not only are you endangering yourselves and your children, you are endangering the animal!". Not one person listened. There was also litter, and extreme noise on the trails and in campgrounds. I actually spoke with some very nice tourists who said they "were hoping to see a grizzly bear on their tour". I politely told them "I actually don't want to see them. If I do see them, it means that they have become too accustomed to people, or they are too close to the roadways. I am happy they aren't visible. It means they are safe, and enjoying their own habitat." These people were taken aback at first, but I could see them contemplate this idea, and accept it. I told them of "Bear 148" who was, in my opinion, as good as murdered by the Banff tourist industry. I am so passionate about this topic and am hoping to get employment with Parks Canada, to assist with the conservation endeavor. Again, excellent work :)
Well done to you.tourists need to properly educated. They should go to a safari park or zoo if they want to approach animals have picnics make noise and all of the other inconsiderate selfish things that ingnorant people do.

You can not let those who once almost lead to the extinction of many many animals to now protect them. Government is never never ever ever to be trusted.
Wildlife that threaten human beings should not be shot. But instead human should get out of their turf and limit access to the environment where such animals may be present. Sadly this seems to be the case the world over. As a keen wildlife observer & photographer I feel we are the problem. On the one hand we want access to wildlife, build nice reserves and then they become overrun with vistors (a victim of their own success). I once visited a popular reserve in the UK which has lots of seabirds such as Gannets, Razorbills, Puffins etc. But it was packed with us all trying to view these birds and it was not an enjoyable experience at all. As I live in a city there are only a few wildlife/nature hotspots which again get full of people, which can cause problems for the birds, particularly Swans which get attacked by dogs who have been let off their leads by owners. One local reserve now has a vistor centre, cafe, children's playground, cycle hire and a remote control boat club which use the lake! It is a wonder that the birds have not vacated and gone somewhere else. And don't get me started on dog walkers or drones!
Thanks for making videos like this and calling out Parks Canada. People in general need to be held accountable for their actions... inactions and it up to other people to do it.
Thanks Jacob. I think Parks Canada has actually been doing a good job given their limited resources; the real problems lie with a total lack of funding from the federal level and a lack of commitment to ecological integrity from the feds and from upper levels of Parks' management.
Sometimes, I feel, it would be better for the Wildlife [and us too, sometimes] if most of the Wildlife viewing tourism, was reduced to installing more live Cameras in the wilderness, so people could watch the Animals, from their homes... Sadly, that way, they wouldn't make so much money, quite the contrary actually...
It's gonna sound controversial but in National Parks the rights of the animals should trump those of humans - wolves shouldn't be shot for becoming accustomed to the food left by us. And if humans get hurt as a result, then that's just the way it is - we are in their domain after all. The decision to shoot those two wolves has essentially almost wiped out the Bow Valley pack. Incidentally, I saw one of the pack south of Banff, near Sulphur Mountain last summer. It was only a brief sighting, but it was stunning nonetheless - no attempt was made to follow me.
If humans get hurt in the process its becuase they weren't packing which anyone that goes into the woods needs to do, or else you are responsible for your death or physical harm, not the animal that did it, they are just protecting themselves and their pups and if you don't want to protect yourself and your family, thats your problem, not the animals.
Yet again more persecution of the wolf. Funny how we forget that without wolves we wouldn't have had dogs, and by having dogs helped people get to the stage we could build civilisations
To be fair these animals have every right to live out there lives where they reside!! Ppl wanna venture off then beware , if the obvious happens then u got what deserve, nosey ppl get hurt. It's bad enough these ignorant are Ppl here in the city gotta consult throw up these cheap are Homes, appts, and so on, it pushes them outta there elements, period, & facts! They don't come looking for u for anything , so stop bein damn nosey. All of our Animals are becoming like the Dinasours because of Man.
I wish I could join you what pore beautiful wolves just being killed what a crime that company should have been fined 10'000 each cause those are almost the last wolves alive boy I almost have tears coming!!!

What happened? What is now the situation?
Unfortunately, I think we need to start holding Parks Canada accountable. Banff isn't the only park where profit before conservation takes place.
cant we breed some wolves in captivity with minimal human interaction for a relativly low cost then set em loose in banff?
They've been breeding them since the 80's
Why not increase park entrance fees to $20 per day, and make it cheaper or free for only confirmed poor/underprivileged Canadians?
Too many people!
What kind of tripod do you use?
Do you strictly complain about Canadian places? or American too?
Tourist go to Banft and Jasper but 99% don't go hiking. Should be plenty of room for animals....we're animals too!
So feeding the wild really does kill them. Lesson learned.
Tourism destroys so many things. In other countries it has a big impact on indigenous people too. Anything to make money.
Parks get "loved" to death.
I go here every summer I’m Canadian.why did he need to talk about the government being liberal about free passes
So sad cus soon don't will be wild wolves and bears.
Banff's taxes goes up in order to protect whats bring in so many tourist. Or............
Yet again more persecution of the wolf. Funny how we forget that without wolves we wouldn't have had dogs, and by having dogs helped people get to the stage we could build civilisations
The reason is because wildlife doesn’t pay🙂
Banff is beautiful, but overrated. There are many other amazing quiet spots I prefer to visit 😊
Stupid humans.😢😭😪😢😭😪.I am sad
Why did the local government even allows trophy hunting?
To be fair these animals have every right to live out there lives where they reside!! Ppl wanna venture off then beware , if the obvious happens then u got what deserve, nosey ppl get hurt. It's bad enough these ignorant are Ppl here in the city gotta consult throw up these cheap are Homes, appts, and so on, it pushes them outta there elements, period, & facts! They don't come looking for u for anything , so stop bein damn nosey. All of our Animals are becoming like the Dinasours because of Man.
So sad to see this stuff, its all about the money
JT is busy with Instagram ops instead of taking care of this country
canadia is more like the u.s. than one thinks
I wish I could join you what pore beautiful wolves just being killed what a crime that company should have been fined 10'000 each cause those are almost the last wolves alive boy I almost have tears coming!!!
This is what happen when you create God into your own image and after your like this, everything else has no right to exist except for those things that look like you and when it threatens your so call way of life it should not exist.
God created us in his Image, but that doesn't mean nothing else has the right to exist. Its quite the contarary. You could call it survival of the fittest. If you go camping and a bear attacks your campground, you have every right to shoot at it in self deffence at the time, but afterwards its not ok to go after it, because it was the person at the camprgounds fault it came in to begin with.
