You know what just occurred to me? Pokey taunting you by saying you should call for Mommy and Daddy is the game's hint that you need Paula to pray every turn until you get to Ness's parents. Genius, Itoi, genius.
This boss is one of the most epic bosses in history. Not because it looks nice. Because of how creepy they made it. You feel helpless, stuck in another dimension with only you, and a mindless demon with the power to plunge the world into darkness.

Tip: There's an "alternative" ending scene. If you want to see it, you can teleport to Onett instead of leaving Paula at home. If you do it, Paula will ask if it's okay for her to stay. Then, say yes. Paula will stay with Ness's family and will be introduced as his gf.
An alien that eventually gains so much power he goes mad and can't control himself anymore, literally becoming the most "evil" thing there ever was, or as Pokey says "Giygas is no longer the wielder of evil..He has become the embodiment of evil itself..which he cannot control on his own. He is the evil power"

They may have relived Pokey god like destruction many times. But the final time they board the white ship to reshape and FORGET everything, Pokey cant distort their life. As he is now trapped in the capsule for all of time and space. So they will get to relive another life time again without the memories of Mother 3.
Some small tips for Giygas, buy night pendants from the Mr. Saturn merchant and equip them to everyone to be immune to what is essentially PSI Flash Omega (most powerful version of flash that can auto kill or inflict ailments like paralysis) and also have Poo use PSI Freeze a to try and solidify Giygas to keep him from moving and to get a free pray with Paula. So every turn of the battle should be; Ness, heal or defend. Paula, Pray. Jeff, almost always defend or heal with items if needed. Poo, use PSI Freeze a to try and solidify Giygas, if you run out of PP, then either defend or use an item to restore it.
Since Giygas cannot think rationally, his attacks are pretty much random. They could do just 1 damage point or instantly kill some party members at the same time.
Giygas used PSI Flash which has a chance to instantly defeat an opponent. You can’t get insta-killed by damage, since it always takes time to roll down. Hope you’re still curious after 2 years :’)
If they make a remake out of all these games from 1 2 and 3 they can translate it all to english and turn offensive things into harmless humorous things like in the occulists part make it as a painting the town blue event instead of a ku kluz clan event and so on

This boss scared the shit outta me when a kid. The game is all cutesy the entire time, then out of nowhere it throws a satanic courage the cowardly dog villain at you. Didn't sleep for days lmao
THAT badly huh? If I had seen this when I was kid, it might have been WAY too unnerving It's one of those times when you get so scared as a kid but get used to it as you get older. But considering Giygas (when you learn his backstory in Earthbound Beginnings) It takes away some of the horror as he has his mind and body destroyed against his will. He isn't totally evil at the beginning, but became a horrifying abomination when he didn't want to, which _terrifies_ us to many with the graphics, and music, and how he repeats "Ness" and "it hurts."

Earthbound was a game made like something from the imagination of a child. In a way, Giygas makes since in this theme. It looks like the result of a child seeing something he wasn’t supposed to see and letting his imagination go crazy.
When Pokey says, "Why not call your mommy, Ness!" You now have to choose Paula, in order to pray. Because that's how you would make Giygas's defense lower, in order to beat the game.
i still think pokey's dialogue (both opening and closing the first phase of the battle) isn't appreciated enough here. Hard to describe why, i just think it suits this battle and earthbound as a whole.

Growing up, I always felt that the method to defeating Giygas reminded me of using the Spirit bomb from Dragon Ball Z, but maybe that's just because as a teen, I got exposed to tons of media.
I remember being like 10 when this came out. I had a friend that was ocd. Back then we didn’t call it off though. He kept all his game boxes and manuals in perfect condition. He, to this day has such an amazing snes collection all in perfect shape. I used to come over and screw up his game saves lol. Seeing this brings back so many memories
Since Ness and the others are robots, they literally can not grasp Giygas’s true form (hence the distorted red and black imagery), assuming he even has one anymore
I dont know why it took me so long to realize, but I am understanding that what Pokey says throughout the fighting might not actually be his words, but rather Giygas speaking through Pokey.
Probably the only reason why Earthbound is somehow popular this Boss Fight. It's bizarre and is somehow based on a true Story. The Mother series is pretty much mediocre compared to other RPG Series but this Boss Fight is very unique and memorable

Growing up, I always felt that the method to defeating Giygas reminded me of using the Spirit bomb from Dragon Ball Z, but maybe that's just because as a teen, I got exposed to tons of media.

I remember being like 10 when this came out. I had a friend that was ocd. Back then we didn’t call it off though. He kept all his game boxes and manuals in perfect condition. He, to this day has such an amazing snes collection all in perfect shape. I used to come over and screw up his game saves lol. Seeing this brings back so many memories

The Mother series is pretty much mediocre compared to other RPG Series but this Boss Fight is very unique and memorable
