Ricky is from Shanghai but moved to LA when he was young and went to school there and then left his family when he was 16/17 to come to Korea in hopes to debut!
Let me try to answer some of your questions that other people haven't answered and explain some things :) Ricky is an introvert while Gyuvin is probably one of the most extroverted people I've ever seen. Ricky is regarded as part of the babygirl line by most zeroses (together with Hao, Matthew and Taerae). I'd say Ricky and Hao are the princesses of the group (as you probably noticed, Hao tends to get princess treatment from Hanbin the most and Ricky from Gyuvin). Ricky is extremely soft spoken, which got him the nickname Lovelicky (lovely Ricky), and he seems to do most things slowly: he blinks slowly, he speaks slowly, he reacts to things later than everyone else, he laughs at jokes late... it's so adorable 😭 While Gyuvin is a ball of energy who loves to bother his members, provoke and tease them, but is also the clingiest, most affectionate person ever. He dotes on the members, hugs and cuddles them all the time 🥺 (Can you tell I'm absolutely in love with ZB1? lmao) From what I understand, shimkongz is a combination of Ricky's "Korean last name" (his real last name is Shen, and we could also see it as a combination of it with Gyuvin's last name, Kim) + the Korean word for bean, which in English sounds like part of Gyuvin's name (his name is pronounced Gyubin, so bin = bean - also why his duo name with Hanbin is 2binz). It's supposed to be a play on words with "심쿵" (shimkoong), and I'm gonna paste the explanation here: "It's a Korean slang term that combines 심 (shim), short for 심장 (shim-jang, meaning "heart"), and 쿵 (koong), which is an onomatopoeia for the sound of a heart pounding or something dropping. Together, it conveys the feeling of your heart skipping a beat, often due to excitement, nervousness, or being charmed by someone." I've heard Gyub pronounce it exactly like that Korean word, so I guess that's how it's pronounced. Ricky really gave Gyuvin a Gucci ring for his birthday, it's true. We've seen him wearing it many times too. Gyuvin does speak English pretty well, and he understands a lot. There are other members that can speak and understand and are currently catching up to him (I know Hao and Hanbin have been improving a lot, Gunwook can speak it too, and I'd say almost all the members are able to speak a little), but after Matthew and Ricky, Gyub is the best English speaker. From what I've noticed, he often uses that knowledge to explain to Ricky when he doesn't understand something in Korean. Also, after Hanbin, Gyuvin is probably the non-Chinese member who tries the hardest to learn some Chinese. Not sure if you know this, but Ricky, Gyuvin, Hao and Yujin are all under Yuehua Entertainment, so they already knew each other before Boys Planet and had been training together for a while. From what I can gather, Ricky and Gyuvin had been close for a long time before the show. This was such a cute compilation, great choice! You got to know their sweet side pretty well. I'd say that two relevant things about their dynamics that weren't included (and that are a big reason why people like them as a "ship") are their lives together and their repos from fansigns. So many moments of them saying "I love you" to each other, slapping each other's butts, being flustered because the other is changing in from of him, saying they're soulmates and boyfriends... the lore goes deep lol
