ha ha....I had a feeling I forgot something. "Smiling On A Cloudy Day" is the name of that compilation. I figured if you didn't already have it you might find it interesting. It really is a great record, combining the best songs from the first three records. Or, the most psychedelic songs anyway. Comin' around now!
It is a great cover, isn't it? They always have good art on their covers - I guess it's usually Chris Kirkwood doing it. Thanks for watching and commenting Rich!
Tex Mex ! I wish we were in San Antone for some authentic local Mexican cooking ! Great Gene Clark penned Byrds tunes and Gene solo playing in the background as well 😎 Animal Collective is so good and interesting. " Here Tonight" is when Gene almost became a Burrito ! Great picks, and you are entered into our drawing with 3 winners pucked bt Sean on Sept. 29th. Sunday..
I've been listening to that Clark album recently. Think I might be on the lookout for a couple more of his records, or maybe that one with the Dillards. I'll check the used bins - it's no hurry. Thanks for having the contest Jt!
Do you by chance remember my relation to Gene? His son, Kai is a great friend and he was the singer/ songwriter of our band Mary Underground in the 90's. What a great experience for me, in the way that I was already a Byrds fan, and then I got involved with Gene's family.. His wife Carlie, Kelly, and Kai is still going strong musically, and our kids play together whenever we visit these days.. Kai is now the sole heir to the estate of his father.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I remember you mentioning Kai before.....it may have been when I posted a video about Kai Winding. So I wanted to play Gene in the background. Usually I try to stick with instrumentals for background music, but this was a special occasion. I listened to that album in its entirety after I posted the video. Congratulations again on your channel's growth!
Smiling On A Cloudy Day is the name of the record with the VW bus on it. Can't believe I forgot to say the name in the video. lol Thanks for commenting Mark!
Nice entry Randall. We break out our fondue 🫕 for the football season. Homemade bread and melty cheese sauce mmmmm. That Grateful Dead album sounds good. I've so much dead 😊. Good 🤞 luck
The question is, do you have enough dead? The eternal question. lol Fondue football party sounds like fun. There's a restaurant called The Melting Pot that specializes in fondue; I think a lot of their customers are people having group celebrations. Thanks for watching and commenting Greg!
I love that Meat Puppets album cover - huevos rancheros for sure. I think that Polyrhythmics record popped up in a Bandcamp recommendation or e-mail. It's on Color Red Records, which I failed to mention. That's a cool label started by the guy from The New Mastersounds, another instrumental band. Thanks for dropping by Mike!
I really like that Animal Collective cover. It is a perfect representative for J.T.'s contest. The Fondue Party cover is making me hungry and I like that Meat Puppets cover too. That reminds me that I have one Meat Puppets album and I haven't played it in years. I will have to get it out. Good luck in the contest.
I'm a pretty big Meat Puppets fan....I think I have about 4 or 5 of their records/CDs/tapes. ha ha....yeah, this contest is making everybody hungry. Thanks for commenting Randy!
I looked it up in discogs and they called it violet. Unfortunately I didn't look it up until after I called it purple in the video. It's a cool color either way. Thanks for commenting Shawn!
I think their first album may have leaned towards punk, while the ones after that have sort of a laid-back country rock feel. A little bit. Not too much. Here's a link to one of my favorite Meat Puppets songs - give it a listen if you get a chance. Thanks for commenting Dave! ua-cam.com/video/ZwLWRyJhSCA/v-deo.htmlsi=KycBq2jijXwhcGCn
Animal Collective has been featured in several videos from me over the past year. Well, either Animal Collective or records by their members Avey Tare and Panda Bear. I think they live in Portugal now, although they are from the US. They are fantastic - you should stream some if you get a chance. Polyphonics are an obscure band that I don't know anything about. I think that record popped up in Bandcamp and I sampled it and thought it sounded good. It's just an EP, but I've played it a lot. Thanks for commenting Doug!
I'm trying to remember where I got that record. Sometimes the dead dot net website has some records that are exclusive to their site, but I think this one was a Rhino Rocktober record from 2017, so it's possible I picked it up in a record store. It's a great compilation with a fantastic album cover. Thanks for commenting Kris!
I need your recommended record.. What is the title ?

OK.. "Smiling On A Cloudy Day".. I'm gonna look it up and see where it is available
Cool Meat Puppets cover. Love that artwork. Nice entry Randy. Best of luck in JT's contest.

Get "White Light" or most call it Gene Clark self titled. My very favorite, even over "No Other"

Thanks, Randy.. More Gene will be a good thing ! I remember now, that I told you before. See you again, soon

Hi there Randy! That Fondue Party thing is something I've never seen before. I now have a craving for Huevos Rancheros!

Good luck Randy. I wasn't aware of these lp picks. I knew of The Meat Puppets, but haven't heard a lot by them.

@@RandallWeaver Okay thanks for the link, Randy. I'll give it a listen.
great job, not familiar with those first two records. good luck in the contest!

I don't think I ever saw that Grateful Dead comp.
