TODAY 22.02.2021. ME AGED 32 THE FISRT DAY TO SEE A VIDEO OF DEMBO WHICH I HAD NEVER SEEN IN MY GROWING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....THANKS TO WHOEVER DID ME THIS FAVOUR
To me there's no best Sungura Artist ever lived and existed in Zim can match the standard of music arrangement of this legend Leonard Dembo, growing up I used to and I'm still listening to his awesome, powerful and profound teaching songs...I hardly sleep without having to play one or two of his songs....I was born in Mozambique I am Ndau speaking yet I grow up in SA, so I understand exactly what the Legend Dembo was communicating to us through his music. Thanx to my dad who used to buy Dembo's cassettes back then...and thanx to whosoever managed to post this video, may God richly bless you. May his Soul Rest in Peace.
Leonard Dembo was possessed by spiritual excellence. I went to his show in Gweru. You had to see him singing to believe that it was indeed that simple looking guy who could shoot those missiles. Manje kudhara ndaiti ndikamuterera ndakadhakwa ndotombopota ndichichema ini zvangu.... just to dilute vugugu gwacho
When Zimbabwe was Zimbabwe clean streets clean air clean people, everything organized I miss these times. The Most High will definitely restore our status I hope 🤞
Leonard Tazvivinga Dembomavara and Barura Express , band members included Alexander Muudzwa, Chrispen Zimburu, Cosmas Nyathi, Kidson Madzorera, Shepherd Akimu and Innocent Mjindu.
Can you please get in touch at archiveszbc2@gmail.com.We have another video from your father recorded at Tendai Hall in Bindura. We would want to show the family 1st before we post it here
On a Sunday, November 22, 1992, a truly memorable day unfolded for those fortunate enough to attend this live show. I was just 8 years old at the time, and now, nearly three decades later, it feels as if this cherished memory occurred only last week. Musorowenyoka, as he was affectionately known , possessed a voice of pure platinum, a treasure beyond measure. Dembo’s voice remains timeless and invaluable. Rest in peace, my legendary hero!!!
Gifted, the camera shy Legend. Humble n well organized artist I wonder how they used to create those songs that doesn't need backing vocals. Hosiah Chipanga was another one
Its crazy I saw LEONARD DEMBO in Gutu, couple times at paradise, that was in 92, very humble man and usually kids would take over the stage, and he was fine with them! Which was heart warming to see him tolerate kids in that way, and they would distract him an all,but he seemed to connect with them well, rest in peace akoma!
If this Legend was still alive, would even walk to Zimbabwe just to shake his hand...I love his music,I can't spend a day without playing his songs.I was only 16 when he leave us...RIP Dembo
I was only 3yrs old but his music is waaaaaaaayyyy ahead of all bands right now.Makatorwa zvenyu nenguva baba asi dai hupenyu hwaitengwa ndaikudzosai imi, mukoma System Tazvida naSoul Jah Love.Ndinovimba Samatenga vachatisanganisa zvakare munguva shoma inotevera. 🙏🙏🙏
There were no fights in Dembo shows. You either just sat mesmerised by the quality sound or you were right at the back dancing your drunk or sober self away. Indeed I attended this show including his very last one at Rusununguko Bar in Chitungwiza where he finished his set sitting on a chair..Unparalleled!
Lucky you! Some of us only experienced his greatness through what he left behind. When was his last show? (D/M/Y) What was sick from for him not to be able to stand up?
@@muzaarnold It was just a few weeks before he passed on, the month and date escapes me unfortunately. Sadly, I am not privy to what the ailment was but the man was not his usual solid self and evidently was in pain.
NO WAY! you must’ve had the best time! I haven’t just gotten into his music! My dad played his stuff in the car but I was too young to really appreciate what this guys were doing! So beautiful hearing a well polished group
The very best sungura musician Zim will ever have. I doubt kuti tichawanazve mumwe anosvika level rake. Still enjoying the music today 20-04-2021 tirimo mukorona
A tiny morsel of the great man live...Robert (Johnson) and Wolfgang (Mozart) please wait in the queue! Hopefully The Family will eventually release a live dvd...preferably before I "pop my clogs". Of not....sigh...I/we will have to wait 'till I meet him on the other side. It will be a privilege...PURE GENIUS.
He was a Godsent with an extraordinary talent,RIP Musorowenyoka.May God bless your boys to continue with your legacy.I remember my wife by your hit chitekete,I used to call her with this name may GOD ALMIGHTY continue to be with her soul in HIS right HAND.
For me the greatest zimbabwean artist of all time, everything about him was exceptional, the voice, the timing, the guitars, all arrangements were on point, what a talent! They come once in a lifetime.
Are we agreeing these were peaceful shows and moments ladies and gentlemen!!? See how fans are appreciating a talent. See discipline there. Legends forever.

Zvaunoda Handizvigoni is a song beyond anything you could ever come up with. Ridiculous guitar works combined with a notoriously deep tapestry of poetic lyrics and absolutely smashing beautifully flowing and unforced vocals. Has never been, cannot be & will never be done again. Lyrical master, guitar demon and a mysteriously mystical magician in every sense of those words. @26.40 to 27.40, the sub rhythm L. Dembo played is beyond absolute nuts. Crazy crazy crazy stuff.
Thank you @Zbc Archives, this will help a lot of generations who did not manage to see one of the best Sungura Musicians to come out of Zimbabwe live on stage. Leonard Dembo's music is still hot and relevant up to this day. I thank you.

Amaka! This band was dangerous! From the drums! Rhythm! Bass! Lead! Vocals and the dancers! TOO GOOD! Masters of sungura!
I was telling someone the same thing 2 days ago when we were listening to him on spotify. Remember doing this in 1992.
