Im a huge Salt New York fan. The owner is essentially a one woman show and created all of her own formulas. Sydney Grace is amazing as well - it’s run by two sisters and the name comes from their daughters’ names put together.
Edit: I had to add to my comment, anyone interested in Sydney Grace should order the Tiny Marvels palette!! It’s a collaboration with the late great Mel Thompson! She was a youtuber who passed after she’d created the palette with the brand. The proceeds are going to Mels family. I believe she had 4 young children, and an added bonus is that the palette is beautiful!! I’m watching now, and am at the beginning.. but I’m a mostly indie shopper Bc they create the most fabulous and spectacular shadows, blush, and all things really!! After this video tho I’ll never be able to get my hands on my stuff! Lol

YAY, indie makeup deserves so much more hype, I rarely consider eyeshadows from normal brands now because I've been so spoiled by indie eyeshadow quality. Would love to see you try some multichromes like from Clionadh or Terra moons!
I stumbled across Clionadh when trying to dupe Huda's Mercury Retrograde palette and wow, the intensity of their duochromes and multichromes. Are they as good IRL as they are in photos? Am going to check out Terra Moons as well :)
@@MC-ko2mx they definitely are!! If what you want is mainly sparkle and 2-3 shifts on the eyes you can go for their glitter multichrome line (not real glitter just large particle mica- so super sparkly) and those are reasonably affordable. But if you want the super magical like 3-5 shifts on the eyes depending on the light then go for their jewelled line (black based) or if you don't want it to be smokey go for their iridescent glitter multichrome (super sparkly finish) or series 2 (more metallic finish) multichromes. I love the iridescent because you can layer and select the multichrome to have any base so it's super versatile. But yea you can't go wrong with Clionadh. The channel Badtothebrow does a lot of indie multichrome comparisons and the clionadh ones are often in the top. But Terra moons has some special colours not offered at Clionadh. I hope that helped a bit, if you'd like to see more I also have super up close video swatches on almost all the clionadh iridescent multichromes in natural light so I feel I was able to capture them the way they look irl! :)
SO glad you featured Salt and Half Caked! Half Caked especially has such a perfect shade range, and every time I use their products or browse their site I just get the feeling that the creators know exactly what makeup consumers want. Their product images are awesome, shade descriptions are incredibly precise, and the colors are so nuanced and perfect. They're awesome!
That case looks like it would hold some single shadows! All makeup in one case!?! Sidney Grace always looks Amazing everytime I see someone using their products!!
I LOVE my Salt New York palette for travel!! It saves me so much space and weight! I can fit all my eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, and highlighter in that one palette, and everything feels super secure and protected. I love it! 👌🏻
I definitely want to try more indie brands. You look gorgeous! Not an indie brand, but fyi for any other mature ladies watching, I have found the L’Oréal age perfect 4-in-1 balm to be amazing! It doesn’t stick to texture, it just looks smooth and natural.
oh wonderful! i’m also in the rosacea club, and it’s hecka gentle on my reactive skin! and i too am engaged, so perhaps i’ll do the same and wear it on my wedding day too! i’m glad you’re able to get married with all this covid nonsense! 💙
I love the elf putty brush for creams as well, but I find it's too dense for my salt New York products.. I use a way softer a little fluffier brush & it does not pick up any foundation like when I use the putty brush(I played around with a ton of diff brushes but even the elf stippling brush works a little better)... def love salt New York products, she knows her creams/balms.. Also love sydney grace.. the mel thompson palette(ita called tiny marvels) is amazing & they have so many great singles... this was fun.. there are SOOO many amazing indie brands out there...❤ Ps. I'm pretty sure there is room in the salt New York palette so you have room to slide them over & take them out without digging into them...bc I have the smaller palette & there is the same room, so pretty sure its intentional!

Girl!!! One word: Phytosurgence. Their cream shadows and cream blushes are other worldly!!!! There is a shade called "deeply rooted" which is just like that Mac shadow you where talking about in the video. I know you'll love it! Sydney Grace and Salt NY and Half Caked are all amazing! I'm so glad to hear you talk about them. I'm also a fan of Moira too. They have some duochromey liquid and cream shadows that are really good...and very inexpensive. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm obsessed with Salt New York, specifically the Sneaky Balm skin tints. That particular product is not in your reviews but I love it. It has taken the place of my foundation. It's not full coverage but works great with my older, textured, yet also oily skin.

The salt ny sneaky balm is a beautiful formula for anyone interested in ordering from them I highly recommend. On light makeup days I use it as concealer and run out the door. Buildable for fuller coverage as well!
I couldn’t be more excited you’re reviewing these!!! SG and salt are some of my favs!!! The SG cream shadows have taken over my life. I mix like a bazillion together to get a perfect custom color almost every day bc they never break down and they look so beautiful on mature lids. If you’re looking to dive into indie shadows, check out Emme, glaminatrix and adept.
I was just thinking about using my Salt NY stuff right now when I saw this video! They did have a super long delay recently with their palates stuck on a ship that couldn't port. Anyway those cream tints are soooo good. That light medium bronzer is my favorite no makeup bronzer. It's sheer, but just enough to look natural not absent. The tones are perfect. I want to try her sneaky balm too. Plus love the whole sustainability aspect of the brand.
I never see anyone talk about indie brands! I didn't know about any of these brands and this makes me so excited to support some smaller brands. They definitely deserve some hype! You should make more of these videos 😍

nabla has amazing cheek products! (my favorite powder bronzer and highlighter formulas are from them), they're available at ulta which is killer. also lethal cosmetics is a great place for eyeshadow! they have a build your own palette program so you can literally chose what eyeshadows you want it's so cool
My fav salt New York palette set up is her sneaky balm skin tint, a blush, a bronzer, a highlight (all salt) then powders on the second half. Usually 4 Viseart tiny pans ( one that doubles as a brow shade), a Besame face powder pan. Then the three magnetic brushes from million dollar brows. Then I have a full face to travel with.
I was so against cream products and now I’m obsessed. It’s just faster and I can use the same brush for foundation, bronzer and blush. ELF cream blush, Patrick Ta cream bronzer, no highlighter necessary because the creams provide a nice little sheen.
Thank you for reviewing these brands. I have had my eye on Half-Caked and Sydney Grace for a while and now I might place some orders! Please do more indie brands in the future!
Ive been super interested in Salt New York. I love the idea of how versatile the products seem. I agree on the packaging but maybe it's the right size to lay an eyeliner or lip product or even a brush in the extra space.

I’ve been so into cream products just this year! I had super oily skin before so it was a no go for me, but I’ve noticed my skin is changing and cream products are so beautiful on my skin!

You should definitely check out Phytosurgence! They have the most unique highlighter formula that looks like a natural lit within glow AND lasts all day. Cliondah shadows are expensive but the shades are incredibly unique. JD Glow also has great metallic shadows.
This is awesome!!!! I would love love love if you did another video trying out products from other indie brands that your subscribers suggest!!! There are SO many indie makeup brands and products out there that blow the more well-known brands out of the water!! I’m sure we all could suggest some really bomb products that you’d love! 💜
Most people know Sydney Grace for their eye shadows but their blush & highlighters are also amazing. I made my own custom palette with several shades of blush & highlight from SG for much less than what a premade palette from a premium brand would cost. And the quality was bomb. The SG highlighters are my favorite by far in my collection. Salt NY has been on my radar for a while since you can essentially make your own palette & mix custom shades if you need to BUT I do not like cream products that do not dry down & remain balmy or that lift up my foundation. But I really like the idea of customization & personalization & hope more brands will do this by selling their products in removable magnetic pans & refillable packaging.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Cheekbone Beauty! 💚💄💚 I was so excited to see they were picked up by Sephora Canada that I made a special trip out to one of the locations that have a few items out on display AND I got a chance to speak with one of their makeup artists that worked on some of their campaigns! We NEED to get this amazing brand more widely known! Thank you for featuring it!
My Salt New York order took *forever* to finally ship… like nearly three weeks, but I understand shipping time is rough for everyone, let alone smaller brands. Just a note if you’re trying to get something in time for an event or travel. I got pretty much everything in Taylor’s vid…bronzer, contour, blushes and highlights, plus the foundation, it was all perfect for travel! I can’t recommend their products enough (if you like cream and it works with your skin type)!
Sydney Grace is my favorite eye shadow brand! If you want the Mel Thompson palette, Tiny Marvels, get it before it sells out for the 3rd time. It's amazing!

I love Sydney Grace eyeshadows. If you’re basic like me try the coffee talk palette. I have it in light and it rocks. I even got Tiny Marvels to get out of my comfort zone and love it too.
That open spot in the Salt palette might be good for brushes or something when traveling maybe? Sydney Grace is on my list to try along with Devinah eyeshadows, love this indie try on! Oh and eyeshadows from Kaleidos like butta!

I used to feel the same way about the empty space with the Salt palette, but I have so many products that I switch out regularly, it is nice to not have to dig into a pan when I'm switching it out. Might also help you with being able to look at the shade of the products easier? 💚

Sydney Grace has been my go to eyeshadow formula for years!!!! Every type I need a matte shadow I reach for theirs it’s the smoothest formula.

Ive been super interested in Salt New York. I love the idea of how versatile the products seem. I agree on the packaging but maybe it's the right size to lay an eyeliner or lip product or even a brush in the extra space.
Would love to see a video of activities you do around San Diego, beaches, coffee shops, nail salons, etc! I’m still relatively new here and would love to see a local’s perspective!

I’ve been so into cream products just this year! I had super oily skin before so it was a no go for me, but I’ve noticed my skin is changing and cream products are so beautiful on my skin!
I'd have to use the extra space in the Salt pallet for a little tool to pop those pans out. And that copper shadow is gorgeous!!!

I love Salt! So glad to hear you talk about them. My go-to minimal look is just brows, concealer, and their Peach blush shade on my cheeks and up to my temples. SO pretty! Also the owner's UA-cam channel (Kiki G Makeup) is great!

You should definitely check out Phytosurgence! They have the most unique highlighter formula that looks like a natural lit within glow AND lasts all day. Cliondah shadows are expensive but the shades are incredibly unique. JD Glow also has great metallic shadows.

This is awesome!!!! I would love love love if you did another video trying out products from other indie brands that your subscribers suggest!!! There are SO many indie makeup brands and products out there that blow the more well-known brands out of the water!! I’m sure we all could suggest some really bomb products that you’d love! 💜
Most people know Sydney Grace for their eye shadows but their blush & highlighters are also amazing. I made my own custom palette with several shades of blush & highlight from SG for much less than what a premade palette from a premium brand would cost. And the quality was bomb. The SG highlighters are my favorite by far in my collection. Salt NY has been on my radar for a while since you can essentially make your own palette & mix custom shades if you need to BUT I do not like cream products that do not dry down & remain balmy or that lift up my foundation. But I really like the idea of customization & personalization & hope more brands will do this by selling their products in removable magnetic pans & refillable packaging.

My Salt New York order took *forever* to finally ship… like nearly three weeks, but I understand shipping time is rough for everyone, let alone smaller brands. Just a note if you’re trying to get something in time for an event or travel. I got pretty much everything in Taylor’s vid…bronzer, contour, blushes and highlights, plus the foundation, it was all perfect for travel! I can’t recommend their products enough (if you like cream and it works with your skin type)!

I love Sydney Grace eyeshadows. If you’re basic like me try the coffee talk palette. I have it in light and it rocks. I even got Tiny Marvels to get out of my comfort zone and love it too.
That open spot in the Salt palette might be good for brushes or something when traveling maybe? Sydney Grace is on my list to try along with Devinah eyeshadows, love this indie try on! Oh and eyeshadows from Kaleidos like butta!
half caked's lipstick formula is the only matte liquid lipstick i bother with anymore! they have some cute nude and pink shades i think you'd enjoy ✨

Since you love the pressed highlighter from SG…..you have to try the loose highlighter. It melts into the skin with some kind of magic and is amazing.

I used to feel the same way about the empty space with the Salt palette, but I have so many products that I switch out regularly, it is nice to not have to dig into a pan when I'm switching it out. Might also help you with being able to look at the shade of the products easier? 💚

One of my favorite lippies is Half Caked Lip Fondant in Low Key. It can be a little drying on the lips but it's perfect with a lip balm underneath.
