This was one of your best videos. Genuilely loved it. I personally love traditional martial arts, have read the Toa of Jeet Kune Do and know for a fact that Superman can't beat Batman in a fight because Batman won that fight ten years before it happened.
However I'm no fool, well, ok so yes i am but even i know that the message in this video is 100 percent.

I used to idolize and idealize Bruce Lee but I slowly realized that first and foremost he wanted to be seen as human. He said himself he had a bad temper and he did not like the word "star". The myth of him being a cocky and invincible fighter unfortunately took away his humanity and sort of reduced him to a caricature.

What I really enjoy about both Bruces is that when they lost they looked backed upon their losses and changed what was failing them. They evolved.
Personal experience side note: After having trained BJJ for 8 months I've learned so much and how little I truly know. I've also realised more of the good and bad in the traditional kung fu (Tang Lang Quan) I train. The standing wrestling and takedown elements folllow the same principles in both martial arts. It's almost like everyone eventually comes to the same conclusions if you keep on trying to improve whatever martial art it is, as long as you do not get stuck trying to preserve some gilded past.
I wonder sometimes if the traditional form elements so common in kung fu were originally meant more as a way to store certain principles and techniques without writing them down. More like a guideline from which you pick certain parts. Then with time they evolved/devolved into what they are today where some teach them as if they are the core of the specific style of martial art. Not having batman must have lead to this. Random thought flow over.

But how many times has Batman been seemingly killed, then he comes back?
You are correct about the Bruce Lee thing. Something is really wrong going on with that.
Also, Bruce Lee never intended for his notes to be published. They were only for him, and him alone. I really believe that no one else could understand them...just like no one would ever understand my notes, but me (and even I have no idea when I re read my oldest ones).
His students published them after the fact...and that included some copywrite violations as Bruce had jotted down a bunch of stuff belonging to other people.

I study Shorinji Kempo here in Japan and when it comes to full-bore self-defense it is extremely effective.

Well, if memory serves me right, Bruce did go against team Batman during his Green Hornet days in a crossover episode of their TV series. But he was paired off against Burt Ward's Robin while Van William's Green Hornet faced off against Adam West's Batman. And the result was a draw(of course). Although there was an anecdote about how Bruce allegedly pranked Burt Ward(who had a Karate background) by never smiling and looking pissed off before the shoot and letting him overhear him telling a crew member that he was gonna take Ward's head off for real when the camera started rolling.

5 years of formal training, is that simply his Wing Chun training? Cuz he trained Choy Li Fut prior and I heard rumours that he'd trained other Kung Fu styles as well, but that's non substantiated. Of course this was followed by a lifetime of cross training in Asian and western martial arts (Judo, TKD, Boxing, fencing).

I own a copy of 'The Book. " You're right, most people have propped him up beyond his intentions and ended up doing the very thing he warned people against. Funnily enough some of the best advice I ever got from The Tao or some of his other books ( I had a handful but today I only have The Tao) was stuff like : Run on the road and not on the grass to spare your joints. Eat smaller portions but more of them. He had good insights into diet for the time. When it came to observations on techniques I really liked how he'd find something of value in a style like say European fencing and it's footwork and he'd incorporate what he found useful and try to discard what wasn't. That simple idea of "okay, let's try it". See what happens and make notes and adjustments. It's that last one that I think rubbed off on a lot of people that went on to do combat sports. I didn't, but I appreciated the idea of recognition of when something wasn't working, and the humility of that and being grown up enough to see when someone else had something better or more promising to offer. Don't get me wrong, preserve the history of the the various arts if that's your thing. That's also of value. Just act in accordance with what you claim your goals are. Or be humble enough to change course if it's going to take you on a better path. That's the kind of thing that inspired me about the man. That and his epic action scenes and reasonably decent dramatic performances considering the opportunities he had to work with in his rather short life time.

However I think many fans let their imagination run wild in terms of what's possible, hence we get idiots saying that Bruce Lee could punch harder than Tyson, that Bruce is a greater fighter than Tyson... Yet ask them for the best five fighters Bruce ever beat and you get silence.

First, I love the meme you made. I especially love the contrast between the always polite and engaging COJC LDS missionaries and the not always polite and sometimes dismissive COBL JKD missionaries. This was brilliant in many ways.
If you make roughly three kinds of videos, talking head, technique, and creative, I'd rank this as my favorite, talking head second, but technique a bit further down. I appreciate the production, the thoughtfulness that must have preceded it, the refinement of the script to enunciate your exact positions, and the way that the clips mirrored what you said as you were saying it. I know you spent time on costumes and choreography, and that was a great hook, but the rest of the video was even better, especially your Ramsey Dewey wrap-up. Your congenial recognition off their respective contributions was a bow on this gift.

You're right, a competition between a fictional character and a real person can't be fair. This only works when you take a fictionalized version of Bruce Lee to put against Batman and there really doesn't need to be a winner in a fight between icons. Yes, a talented comic book writer, or a movie fight choreographer, could put together an exciting extended fight between the two (Maybe even better than what you put together), but either one killing or humiliating, the other, is an unsatisfactory ending. It's better if the two each get to show off their abilities, then come together to fight the real villain. Or something like that. In any case, telling a good story with two compelling characters is always a better exercise, then "proving" which is best.
    I really enjoyed the video.

About Batman, remind that is a fictional character.. his fighting style in the modern movies (Keysi) its an adaptation from street fighting, several martial arts and military combat methods (some 52 Blocks, Boxing, Savate, Judo, MuayThai and KravMaga are the most identifiable principles moves) But the "Original character" has a logical Direct references from the REAL Ninjutsu (He is a "Yuppie Ninja" or a "technological version" of the mythical japanese Tengu Warriors, demigods halfdemons WHO taught Ninjutsu to humans royal japanese clans) as Karate, Judo (japanese martial arts) and some MuayThai and KungFu during his staying in Nepal /China area.. In any case, Considering the "Stealthy" nature of the character, its VERY accurate the choice of fighting style (Ninjutsu was made mainly for fight armed and unarmed, against several opponents, exploring, infiltration, spying and assasination most than any other style) due to the set of skills that posseses and the type of opponents he faces ( thugs, criminals, corrupt cops and psychos).. On counterpart, Lee created JKD just as a Plataform to Use as Referential Base of the most Effective or Proven moves he Learned and Studying human body mechanics.. Leaving always a Space for Adaptation, Change of those Moves and Personal Growth and Development of Each practitioner, Not as a Fixed Dogma.. Nothing wrong with both Approaches. Each one has their Pros and Cons and also a lot of BS that De-legitimates those styles BUT.. As i always State, Everything Works when its used Properly on the right Time, Situation and Opponent. Greetings PS: 11:45 Exactly thats my Mindset

I appreciate the creative approach to sharing the message... and the work. As a father who has to work 35 hours a week to pay the real bills, the editing process is the biggest hurdle for me as a UA-camr.... I often postpone editing cuz it's difficult to let go off and if I end up going too late to bed (i first get to edit once my son sleeps), then it hurts the day at work and with the family... so my recordings are piling up compared to my editing... but family is the key priority and training is also probably higher than editing, cuz if I wanna stay in shape and capable past 50 it has to be (38 at this point).... Anyways, keep up the good work. :)

As for any real fighter with any weapon they used in history could not beat Batman. Reason, Batman is a comic and no real person could learn all those martial arts and do what he can do.

    So what you're saying is...
Bruce Lee summoned as a Fate/ Servant would be OP as shit.
I have no idea how well that reference is gonna land.

I don’t recognize the reference, but it sounds like a fantasy book or RPG video game trope?

@@RamseyDewey Fate/ is an extremely convuluted fantasy anime franchise involving mages summoning legendary and mythical heroes from the past (and sometimes future) as a Servant. The joke here is that the power of a servant is directly related to their legend. So, in remembering Bruce Lee as this modern Hercules, he'd be summoned as such.

Great! I really enjoyed this video - but I like your talking head videos too, so don't think you need to sweat in the Shanghai heat to make it worth it.
Part of the why I liked The Watchmen so much - the wrestling with masks, heroes, idolatry, and the psychology of heroes in it's good and it's bad.

Lmao. I remember arguing with a Bruce lee fan that claimed he hit harder than Mike Tyson, George Foreman, and Francis Ngannou, because he could destroy a 300lbs heavy bag. When I mentioned the video of him working out on the small heavy bag he made some excuse about how film was expensive back then and that’s why there’s only videos of him working out on the smaller heavy bag

even without gear, batman is unrealistically strong, unrealistically athletic, and knows everything there is to know about fighting.

I'm reminded of the lamented "Martha!" moment from the Batman Vs Superman movie, except it'd be "Bruce!" and both Bruces would bond over their similarities and realise they should team up or something.
