Universe of death could be where Zack is and is basically the lifestream. Sephiroth is currently in the lifestream too as he was thrown into it by Cloud and dissolved into it, although he retained his consciousness as he can continues to influence the clones and Cloud. Destroying the planet would would make the lifstream of the planet join that on the cosmos lifestream. (This was Sephiroths goal in Advent Children too).

Sephiroth's universe of Death could easily be the OG universe that eventually leads to Gaia without people. (As seen in end credits scene)
Cloud's universe of life could be the remake universe that leads to advent children and ridding everyone of geostigma. (And saving humanity.)

What you said about the two universes and scenarios is really interesting. If there is one where Zach "lives" (univiverse of death) that would be a cool way to explain how we see him at the church but Aerith isn't there (she isn't dead year so would be in the universe of life)...those universes crossing could bring Zach into the party in a future Remake installment.

So many theories / ideas - can’t wait for part 2.
I think the chip / crisp packet is a red herring
Cloud is critical to Sephorith - this is made well known in og, advent children and now the remake.
I think we’re in for a curveball on this one ..

This all happens at the point the game titled "Singularity", which is basically a point of infinite mass, with no real sense of time or space. Sort of like the precursor to the big bang, which is the imagery that essentially happens when Cloud and Sephiroth's swords clash and this scene begins. So if Aerith and Sephiroth "created" this place, I suppose it is a place of infinite possibilities ("boundless, terrifying freedom"). So maybe this place is the point where that which we know (OG) meets with that which we don't (Remake)? Based on what Sephiroth said, I just took it that what was behind him was a glimpse of the inevitable end of the universe but that he was intent on beating death, while recognizing he needs Cloud to do that.

I wonder if Remake will have an ending similar to Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials and the third season of Doctor Who, where the two main protagonists end up living in different universes, forever separated. That would be a bittersweet conclusion: Aerith doesn't die, but she and Cloud never get to see each other again.

I still don't understand how a crisp(chip for americans) packet made everybody jump to alternate universe theories lol.
I still ship the "original game was all a vision of the future aerith had in the mako stream during the opening" theory, hence why the OG closes on the same shot of her as was at the beginning of the game, remake picks up straight after that, which is why she knows so much in remake; she saw a vision in the mako/lifestream.
Zack and the people in the sector 5 church are all dead; they're being blocked from returning to the planet by sephiroth (which is canon in the OG) and the whispers are twisted seohiroth was hoping to absorb in the OG after meteorfall when he talks about the planet trying to heal itself and him absorbing the energy in the temple of the ancients

    • @DashingDavid

I honestly love that theory. There’s certainly gotta be a reason why we see aerith at the end of og FF7 in a similar way to the opening of the game.

If you haven’t already, please check out Sleepezi channel and his take on this information. He knows/has translators and they broke down this and the Ultimania plus in incredible detail
Also not sure if the translations say the same but in the Japanese version when Cloud and Sephiroth meet up at EoC when Sephiroth asks Cloud to join him, they describe it as Sephiroth being merciful and when Cloud refuses and Sephiroth takes his stance, Sephiroth was only gonna give Cloud that one chance to change his mind, now Sephiroth will pursue Cloud and his goals with no mercy. He is going to take a deeper route to destroy Cloud, as he knows that mentally once Cloud is restored, Cloud won’t lose. This is why the Zack universe becomes important

Cloud and Sephiroth are of the same universe. What they mean by the universe of life and the universe of death is the beginning, and the end of all things. This is also known as the Alpha and the Omega. A.K.A., God.
The universes of the alpha and the omega are split between between Cloud and Sephiroth respectively thus making them demigods. Their incompleteness is represented by their existence as "one winged angels".
One winged angles that quite literally need each other to exist as there can be no death without life as there can be no life without death.

I think everything is happening in the "Universe of Death", that is where Cloud is, where Zack is, where Sephiroth is etc. The "Universe of Creation" is a world that WOULD exist, IF Jenova and Meteor were to be successful (which currently, is inevitable... right up until the Whispers are destroyed, and now it is less certain.)
I think the purpose of Jenova is to purify the lifestream through death. Bring an entire planet to its demise when its life has become corrupted. Allowing it to be reborn, purified.
This is happening because of the death of the Cetra, and the ascent of humans and Shinra. It is time for the planet to die. So every character is currently trapped in a dying universe... but Sephiroth doesn't want to die. And he doesn't want Cloud to die either.
Because he is half-made of Jenova cells, he is in thrall to the fate that Jenova plans for Gaia (i.e. Meteor.) He is her puppet. And is carrying out her wish to destroy the planet.
Jenova is like the ultimate Whisper. A planetary grim reaper to ensure planets meet their fate when it's time for it to die. The Cetra tried to defy this fate by sealing Jenova away, but they could only delay the inevitable. Eventually the Cetra died off and humans took over the mantle of the planet, bringing with it the monstrousness of mako energy and unnatural experiments. Resulting in the creation of Sephiroth.
Sephiroth is half human, half monster. Half a monstrous slave to fate due to Jenova. But also half a free agent due to his humanity too.
And this is the side of Sephiroth I think we are seeing. The human side. I think Sephiroth's humanity isn't strong enough to deny fate, and save Aerith. But he knows that Cloud is stronger than him, and can achieve this goal for him. He goads Cloud into destroying the Whispers that would take Zack's soul to the heart of the planet. Thus liberating him, and causing this new "world" to be born. Which is essentially like a dream of Zack's consciousness that should not be occurring, because he was destined to be carried by the whispers to the heart of the planet. Similar to how Cloud and Tifa created a dream of Nibelheim when they fell into the lifestream together.
The ultimate goal is this... Sephiroth knows Aerith will die, and he can't stop Jenova from forcing his hand. But he also knows that by sparing Zack's soul, Aerith's soul will be able to find Zack in the lifestream when she meets her end. And if she reunites with Zack, together, because they are free agents within the lifestream, they'd have a chance to stop the inevitability of Meteor, and prevent this "Universe of Death" from dying. So Sephiroth's plan succeeds... he thwarts Jenova in the end (same ending as FF7 OG.)
HEAVY speculation now that I'm less certain of:
The universe of Creation is interesting though... because it makes me think of Genesis. It is the colour red, the colour of Meteor. But also red is the colour of Genesis. And creation is a synonym of Genesis. I almost wonder if Minerva cleansed Genesis in Crisis Core because she wants Genesis to be her champion and stop Sephiroth's plot. I wonder if Aerith replaces Minerva as the new goddess of the lifestream in the end. Perhaps Minerva is destroyed in order for Aerith to take over (but maybe when Minerva, the white heart of the lifestream dies, it becomes a black heart and Minerva becomes a new Jenova, starting a new cycle)... Anyhow, Minerva dies and now Aerith alone controls the lifestream, becomes the new "mother" and uses the lifestream to fight back against Meteor in the knick of time. I wonder if Sephiroth, Aerith, Zack and Biggs are fighting Minerva and Genesis in their world within the lifestream, while Cloud, Barret, Tifa etc. are fighting against Jenova and Sephiroth in the surface world? Probably not though. I think that Genesis represents the red, the colour between black and white in FF lore. The cosmic balance. But Sephiroth wins by defeating that cosmic balance, and stopping the end of the world, and its rebirth. I think that the gift of the goddess is delivered by both Minerva and Jenova. And it is the gift of death and rebirth. Loveless says the Goddess has "wings of light and dark" so perhaps Minerva and Jenova are both two sides of the same deity, delivering the same gift. And both must be defeated to save humanity.

  • @JustinC721
    @JustinC721 3 роки тому +1

Another fun fact here is that Jenova is just one letter away from being Jehova. Aka. God. A.K.A. The alpha and the omega, life and death, etc.
Additionally, Sephiroth is just one letter away from Sephirot which is very significant in Judaism and represents a physical connection or manifestation between one's self and..... God... or Jehova.
Sephiroth basically fulfills that role for Jenova.
    Sephirot - JeHova
    SephirotH - JeNova.
    Coincidence?
Before anyone calls me crazy. I'll just mention that FFVII is chock full of references and influence from various world religions in addition to Norse mythology. The central theme that ties all of these things together. Is the beginning and end of all things. Life and death. The Alpha and the Omega.

  • @robbowman3420

Perhaps Cloud has the choice of tifa/Aerith survival ( a theme of choice already prominent in the remake ). The universe of death is the one where Tifa lives and the universe of creation is the one Aerith lives . So what’s the twist? Cloud can’t choose (“you can’t fall in love with me”) so a convergence of both? Is the Zack timeline the true rebirth and true ending? The events of the original 7 technically start from Zacks death and transference of memories to cloud and perhaps that the convergence of universes can only happen at this point. Aerith existed up until this point and it maybe needs her sacrifice to rid her and sephiroth from this point too in order to preserve this new timeline. Are they both representations of each universe? Both can’t exist without each other so a double elimination/ convergence is needed . I’ve always thought that there was significance when sephiroth knocks clouds sword out and gives the 7 seconds speech it feels like a choice is required here .

Alternate universes... meh. But Two futures makes sense, because that's literally what Remake is about. The original compilation concludes in humanity being wiped from Midgar and/or the planet, which On the Way to a Smile seems to be hinting that Vincent will survive long after humanity is wiped out. Red in remake called the meeting of Red and Vincent what will happen if they *FAIL.* Ultimania also says that Sephiroth has paused time 7 seconds before the planet dies, making moves to change its destiny.
Meanwhile... a future in which the world does not die would obviously be the goal of "Remaking" the past.
So less two universes...and more a divergent future.

  • @JustinC721
    @JustinC721 3 роки тому

Why Cloud is the universe of creation is an interesting matter. Then take into consideration that this universe is literally represented by Jenova. If we split the name, Jenova. We get Jen, or Genesis. And Nova which is Latin for "New". Genesis is basically creation. So we can translate Jenova to "New Creation".
The thing is here that we've always seen Jenova as death. Not as creation. As stated before, death cannot exist without life as life cannot exist without death. Hence they could be seen as one in the same and this is the true purpose of Jenova.
So, perhaps Jenova's purpose was to create new life on the planet, but first it must destroy the old life. The Cetra prevented this which disrupted the cycle of life and death leading us the current crisis.
The current crisis in which Jenovas powers over life and death in the universe are split between the demi gods of cloud and sephiroth. Thus leading us back to why they need each other to exist.
This split occurred because they are infused with Jenova cells and Jenova can only exist through Cloud and Sephiroth due to having no physical form. Which leads me to my next point.

The remakes will most likely do a original trilogy Mass Effect where decisions will branch out to different endings/conclusions moving forward after the first game - The way I see it, the small variances in the events of 1 (like multiple dresses for Aerith, Tifa, and Cloud) are sort of their way of testing the waters with this before moving on the larger-scale branching story arcs. The way the terrier hinted this with Zack's scene is reminiscent of the Mandela effect, in which events or objects are remembered differently by various people (hinting at multiple timelines)

  • @psychopolar8840

Well I am gonna be 100% honest here, I loved FF7R and I am looking forward to it's further installments and it was clear from the very start that this was a remake with some story changes and I don't know why they chose to do this instead of using the original story which could've made the matter more simpler,
And I also completely understand why some people are sceptical about the story changing decision or some critisism about them making it a multiple installments project but imo they had to do this cause the sheer amount of content in FF7 is so large and I think even two discs couldn't had covered this but again it's my opinion.
And about the alternate timeline concept, well it is confusing as well as interesting at the same point and I wonder why they chose to go this route but personally I am very interested and curious as to what'll happen next and I think it's gonna be at least 3 or more parts of FF7 but at this moment I just wanna see or hear some info about FF7R part 2:)

Sephiroth is from a universe known as death/destruction, and Cloud is from a universe known as rebirth/reborn, which is the possibly the same universe.
Let me get this straight holy and the meteor isn't a pivotal plot point in remake who would of thought, lol, we've seen all that crap in cutscene or a window into a past memory, if we dive into memories a little we can now safely say that what has happened regarding og and the compilation has already fkg happened. Zack and Cloud is a timestamp it is a memory from a distant past possibly during the time of og FFVII.
Yes another correct theory, but supernova is potentially a plot twist lol that has made my day also, I can't believe this took everyone nearly two sodding years to finally understand wtf you were all looking at at the edge of creation was the remnants of a fkg supernova, you all needed a book to confirm this crap is funny.
This all makes sense because Sephiroth couldn't give afk about Gaia he wants to destroy it to be free from his prison which is Gaia itself, he was set free after defeating The Harbinger of Fate, finally remake is, end game scenario, Cloud looks likely to choose between rebirth and destruction.
Aerith or Sephiroth finally multiple endings, I was told adding mltiple endings in remake was bs and hard to add, foff lmfbo.
Sephiroth's ultimate goal is to use Cloud that is his ultimate goal, which leaves the question, after defeating The Harbinger of Fate Aerith was reborn, the Jesus of FFVII, and as Sephiroth said I will never be a memory, will Sephiroth still needs a vessel for his potential rebirth, is Kadaj coming back?
Thanks for making my day I need to skip to chapter 18 of my material ultimania and read that chapter. 👍

Aerith gave Cloud that materia in the church, which I tested and I know you cannot use it.
Aerith gave him the white materia, and he will also gain the black materia at some point, I wonder if Cloud will choise which materia to give Sephiroth at the Northern Crater, and if Aerith is killed again the player has the choice to keep her alive by accepting rebirth.
Only to lose somebody else important to him Tifa, bcuz this ship war is sinking at the end of remake for sure. lol.

I don’t think it’s happened enough in gaming for it to be a cliche yet

@@DashingDavid it already happened in many games and movies. Multiverse, multi timeline. people cant learn to accept to live with their choices and consequences so that they jump around multi timeline to solve things. Very weak storytelling.
