    Just so you know, the chances of catching a musky on a dead bait is very low because musky are 100% predator, they like a fresh kill, but pikes are more opportunistic.

      @@jasonlauritsen5587 depending on the time of year.. During ice out on the rivers and creeks they will take dead bait in my experience.. But after that they are usually more aggressive than a pike.

    Depending on where you are musky seasons are closed due to spawning and are normally protected in the spring wich means it is illegal to target them with a rod and reel, I would recommend checking your state regulations.

    Thats a decent pike, but as a european i'm used to see (and sometimes catch) way bigger pike. My biggest one is 131cm / ~51inches from Sweden.

      Ours get just as long, but the european variety seem to get girthier sooner, but for ours typically are only very long when way up north (N of 55°) or in pretty large deep lakes. But we have had quite the large fishing tourism for pike for decades, so between us and the Americans, the easy to access lakes don't typically have monsters over 25 lbs

    I watched the original Cartoon Network broadcast of MSG back in the day, and I totally saw Sayla in the G Fighter first. But I own the 2001 DVD movie release as well, and prefer the pacing and new animation tbh and will always associate her with the core booster

    Good catch man, be careful with those treble hooks though they can gut hook fish be easily. Try bigger ought circle hooks 👍

      I haven’t had trouble with the small treble I use for Muskies since it always hooks in the corner of the mouth but I might make the switch soon

      @@North_Star_Fishing stick with trebles , just set the hook sooner and get sucker harnesses for musky. There’s a reason the musky guides use trebles, but good luck on landing one, it’s so addictive fishing for them!

      @@North_Star_Fishing Hi people are saying here that Musky dont like static baits. I wondered if you have ever heard of a method that in the UK we call wobbling with dead baits. Basically rig your dead bait with a slight curve to it and retrieve it like a slow lure. This can be done under a "bobber" big enough to support the bait. It is my go-to pike fishing method. Good luck for your musky quest.

    Good luck also on getting your first musky!! They’re incredible fish. They even have a different smell than pike. Nothing beats early December giants.

      I've only fileted one before because it bit onto fish on a stringer on the dock and died. The meat looked redder or pinker than the normally very white meat of Northern Pike

    😂 we're on the hunt for different fish. I got my musky on fly back in 2021 but still haven't gotten a Pike on fly yet bucket list fish for 2024 .

      Doubt it but you live in NJ? I know a good spot with some nice pike. It's a hike, though, lol. They ain't this big, but catch 20 - 24 inches every time I go to this place.

    If you live in the Minnesota/Wisconsin area your odds are super high for landing one within in a year. I used to live in Madison Wisconsin and you could catch musky with bladed bass jigs and steel leaders. Just got to be at the right moment at the right time and have some spots that most people don’t know about, keep it up and you will land one

      ​@@comedyhub8772 Wingra is where its at if you want to catch numbers wise for musky, And monona is where its at if you want bigger fish but less fish. Wingra can be really good when its not too weedy in the spring and summer

      ​@@comedyhub8772 For wingra, use a steel leader on 30 pound braid, and clip a big bladed jig, big spinnerbait, or a big softplastic swimbait, The musky on that lake will hammer almost anything. Last fall the lake was to weedy to fish so Id recommend going in the spring.

    I was walking over an old railroad Tressel as a kid that spanned a gorge in Cady-Ville NY, when i looked down into the gorge into the river below i saw 2 of the biggest muskies's ive ever seen swimming side by side. doing a quick glance at the nearby tree's laying in the river i could easily tell the bigger of the 2 had to have been at a minimum of 5ft long. it was almost as big as i was as a and i must've been 9 years old.

    Monster Pike but you gotta throw something with some action to bag a big Muskie. One of the most exciting things I've ever done fishing is seeing a monster follow a big swim bait back to the boat and doing a figure 8 watching him miss it a cpl times before exploding on that bait right in front of me.
