I so needed this. My fuel is raw authenticity, and I love deep conversations. Surface conversations are so inane to me, fortunately my role as a chaplain means I get to have these deep convos on a daily basis. Some people love jumping in deep and thank me for it, but these tips are so good because it’s not always appropriate. Thanks.
I never realized that oversharing could actually push people away. No wonder I’ve often felt disappointed when opening up to someone new. I didn’t understand that I might have overwhelmed them and put them in an awkward position. Thank you for shedding light on this, Alex!
❤️ those of us who had the habit of over sharing always thought we were being good communicators until we had a reason to learn why that was not good. Hard but fortunate. Thank you for sharing this short to the point excellent video. I hope that my grandkids learned this skill much earlier than I ever did.
Great Vid! I will keep this brief as not to over-share...I'm very proud of you and amazed to see how far you have gotten by taking all my advice and mentoring! It really warms the cockles of my heart! You may have gotten the brains, the look, the hair, and talent, but I got the body. God Bless ya brother-
Your wife’s story was so funny! And endearing, actually. 😂 Interesting thing is that the ad that played after this video started off something like this, “I’m ___. I’m an actor with my own tv show. I like ____. And I have ulcerative colitis” The third share made me verbally say, “ooh.”😮 with a visceral reaction, lol. Great video
I think the level of the other person's curiosity can be read both ways. I've often seen people overshare, and the other people in the conversation suddenly perk up and start asking a bunch of questions because they feel like they're getting something salacious. If people seem to get TOO excited/interested, that can also be a sign that you're oversharing.
Im sorry but I do not have conversations about sports or other "topicality"..primarily cause I do not waste my time or brain power on useless malarkey. This is why people rarely talk too me and I an more than ok with that. I never talk about myself or others!!

Thanks for your positive comment. Yes, my wife is the most endearing person I've ever met. I was very fortunate to marry her!
Nice one
Excellent topic, clues and examples, and way better outfit you're wearing - grey instead of brown.
Thanks. But no outfit I wear escapes criticism. For every outfit, there are people who have negative comments on it. 😂

Could be, yes. Always use your best judgement when reading the situation.
Well, I’m Dutch and the Dutch invented oversharing 😂
God bless you young man. You are a gem 💎. I would like to get your book. Is your book on Audible?
Not on audible, but it is on Amazon: _Positive Communication for Leaders_ .
I can't think like this in the moment WTF. I will just shut up and stay alone
Off topic but, can you react to patrick jane? He is a fictional character and extremely persuasive person.
He’s great. Love that show.
