It always makes happy when I walk into a shopping place with Christmas traditional colors! I’ve tried over the years to tone it down but ended up donating those items. Red, green & gold for me!

My pottery barn fur blankets are my favorites. Your house always looks beautiful. This year I added more greenery and bulked up my garlands. Looks so much better. I only put out 20 boxes of the 75 that I’ve collected over 50 years. I am so ready to rid myself of half this year and more next year. I need to simplify my holiday decor. Thanks for the inspiration

*Evergreens and Oak Leaves* . My color palette for 2023 is evergreens and oak leaves, with metallics in bronze and copper. I love a rustic woodland look and rusty browns were calling to me this year. I placed my tree in a garden urn and used foraged oak leaf branches to fill it in. I added copper fern picks, some frosted stems, glittery metallic pine cones, a few furry owls and did a huge frosted/icy spray for the topper. Brown velvet and brown tartan plaid pillows on the sofa and chairs with black velvet down throws. When the lights in the tree and garland come on, it's perfection!

I always start with music. Some Dean Martin or Franck Sinatra’s classics are my favorites. Even if here in France, most people start to decorate later in the season, I start to put here and there some touches of Christmas. It helps to bring some light inside as it is darker outside.
I bought the curtains that you recommended! I loved Christmas crate and barrel room with the black velvet curtains against the white wall. They are so high end. These are beautiful and give the look I was going for.
I become overwhelmed with my minimal Christmas decorations. Some mini lights in my garland, candles in beautiful candlesticks, and my adorable six Jim Shore Snowmen. I wish I could overcome the simple display of Christmas decor, but I start putting it away by the second week of December. ❤️🙁💚

Love how you’ve decorated your home for Christmas 🎅🏻 this year V, you’ve given me some great ideas, I haven’t put our Christmas tree up for the last couple of years, we just haven’t been in the Xmas spirit of things and this year is no different after losing my best friend this week, so close to Xmas, but what I might do to add a little Xmas cheer is put some of my Christmas tree branches in my vases just to make it look a little like Christmas, we don’t have any little children and our son spends Christmas with his partner’s family, so there’s just my husband and myself on Christmas Day, just another day in my home, but I so miss decorating for Christmas, maybe next year it will be better…Happy Holidays to your family from mine. 🎅🏻🧑🏻🎄🎄🎄🇦🇺
I'm so sorry for your loss. Maybe you could buy some special candles or a lantern to light and place beautiful photos of your friend around it along with some fresh pines and just have this little area to pray and remember them. You can leave them out all year or just bring them out this time of year in remberance. I have done this for many special loved ones, and it has been very meaningful to me. I hope this is helpful. I think another way to decorate for the holidays (or any other time) on a budget is to use what you already have (picking a pallette that will go with your everyday decor) and add a few things here and there if needed. You can also rearrange things for a different feel. My Christmas decor is blue, white, clear, silver and gold/brass. I also like to mix up more modern pieces (C&B ornaments that are at least 10 years old at this point) with vintage I find at antique stores. The vintage stuff brings in the soul that is missing from all new pieces and the more modern pieces make the older things feel more updated. I also have a few pieces from my mom that she no longer wants (but I do)... to add a little bit of family tradition into it. I am lucky enough to have a Terrain within driving distance, so I go there for some inspiration. I learned last year that it was less expensive to order some of their candles directly from the vendors. The key to stretching your money is to really learn how to shop. If you do that, you can get better deals than Amazon (the ONLY things I buy semi-regularly on Amazon are design books...and that is after checking prices elsewhere...sorry!) Almost everything goes on sale at some point. The really special things that won't...that is what the savings is used for. That all being said...I agree with having your favorite holiday music playing and adding lots of good smells from holiday baking!

My favorite faux fur throw is from Arhaus. Like PB, they have various types but I prefer the Arhaus "Luxe" (I think it was called) type. They are pricier than PB but better quality, IMO. It comes in an oversized version also that is larger than any PB has. I believe its a Queen size in measurements. I think its the softest and most real fur feeling one on the market that I've tried - at least in the longer fur. The shorter fur styles that are soft are pretty easy to find anywhere, but the longer fur variations are hit and miss in terms of softness. Some are downright gross and stiff feeling. I think I asked before and I don't think you had mentioned but I'd love you and Jack to do a walk-through video at Arhaus - especially for the holidays! Too bad that RH stopped any and all holiday items😢... I have a variety from their past holiday items, luckily. Not sure why they stopped recognizing Christmas. And I love your Spotify Playlists! Do you have a new one this year with new Christmas selections, or is it the same from last year I wonder? I'll check it out, regardless!
