    This is guy is so right about not needing high horsepower to have fun. Most people these days engine swap old cars with more modern engine to get more horsepower. Which is fine, its their car, their choice. But its just so fun to drive a car you can go full throttle on but at the same time not break the speed limit and to listen to that N/A engine. Now thats is the best sound in a car you can get.

      2 years ago on a team building day we drove a french 40 year old 2CV with 29 HP. We floored it, made a lot of noise and still remembering it.

    Last year at a huge family gathering, a very distant relative I had never met before had a red 65 convertible 289w mustang which I couldn't take my eyes off. At the end of the day he dropped the keys in my hand and told me to go have fun, even his credit card in case it needed filling up. Will never forget.

    Great video. My first car upon graduation from HS was a 1966 Mustang HT with a 289 4barrel. It was pure heaven. Nothing today can come close to the pure driving pleasure for the price. It was so basic without all the needless bells and whistles of today’s cars. Long live this car.

    That exhaust sounds better than any modern muffler on the road today, so sexy. I also liked the mini-movie at the end with his wife on a picnic, what a great way to enjoy a nice summer's day with your woman and your car. Long live the third pedal.

    I had a 66 GT Convertible, was a one owner car. I enjoyed it. And everywhere you go people want to tell you their own Mustang story. Brings back so many good memories for so many people.

    The first minutes explained perfectly why engines will always live. EVs will not be the only type of vehicles to roam this planet, but gearheads like us need the eargasm/drama that comes from internal combustion engines. This is why so many of us restore muscle cars, they are timeless in and out. I'm 30 years of age, I do enjoy newer cars; their abilities and features, but no EV compares to the sound of mechanical V8s. Whether they're N/A or forced induction; the purity of the mechanical engine building power under load, even at low speeds going through gears, just gets your juices flowing and skin shivering. It's a form of a dopamine hit every time you accelerate.
    Just like some enjoy having smartwatches and digital watches, others like hand-winding/self-winding mechanical timepieces, which are still made till this day, even though we do not need them to tell time. Most of us use our phones. But this goes to show that ICE vehicles aren't going anywhere.

    The mustang is such a fantastic car but one of my favorite parts is how it’s almost a blank canvas of a car, you can keep it beautiful and original or you can drop in engines of various caliber or set it on an extremely good suspension setup and gut the thing out. It’s probably one of the cars with the largest aftermarket industry so you can completely personalize it.

    These are my favourite Petrolicious videos by far. The videos featuring guys with multimillion dollar collections are amazing, but I love these videos where the car's owned by an average person with a 9-5 job, but a badass car in the garage.

      You're still young, there's plenty of time! I think it would be pretty cool to see more American cars in Europe. I know they don't compare sometimes in terms of quality or performance to their German or Italian counterparts, but it's still cool to see people from all over the world enjoy them since they're pretty niche to american roads.

    What a joy to remember these from my college days. You're right in that today's cars don't provide the thrill of older cars. Thanks for sharing.

  • @cherrypieforever
    @cherrypieforever 7 років тому +15

    Interesting what he says about older cars having more drama even if they're slower. There definitely is an element of that for all older cars, but the thing to remember is that most cars people say that stuff about were performance cars in their day, so they had that drama designed into them. You can't compare a honda odyssey's drama to this, but it would be much closer to an equivalent family car of the time. Similarly the drama of a new Mustang (although still lacking something compared to the original) would be much closer to this than the odyssey.

    • @MrRourk
      @MrRourk 6 років тому

      cherrypieforever ahh but back then they had cars like the Porshe 930 and Carol Shelby Mustangs that could be bought the night before and raced the next day.

    Those first generation mustangs are becoming a rolling piece of history. I love the idea of the owner history book. Having the original window sticker and knowing who has owned the car for the past 52 years, when they owned it, and all the work done on it over the last half century, really adds depth to the story behind the car. Need to get to work building one for my 65 mustang!

    Just an update on my Mustang. Two weeks ago I received an email with the subject line "Mustang for sale?" It was from the grandson of the owner who bought it in 1967! He's based in Afghanistan and he wants to buy it back for his three kids who are all under five. Needs less to say...it is going back home in a few weeks! He had not seen the video yet which he loved.

    I've always loved the 1964-66 Ford Mustang. Both the coupe and convertible. While the Shelby Mustang may be more appreciated and has more performance and the GT models may be more fun to drive. I like the standard Mustang. My sister-in-law had one back in the 70s and 80s. My favourite here is the circular gauge cluster. While I've always loved horizontal speedometers, I also appreciate proper needle gauges over warning lights.

    Thanks for this very well made video! It really seems Greg appreciates and enjoys his beautiful car and I do understand him! I was watching this clip countless times while waiting some 8 months for my Mustang to arrive in Austria from Ohio. It's a 1965 Mustang Convertible A-Code in Maroon red with black and white interior and manual gearbox. And i love watching it and driving it is something like a therapy session. I forget everything else and there's just me, the road, the landscape, the sound and feeling of the engine and this wide bonnet. What else do you need for being happy?...

    right on about driving an old car...I don't know that i would call it 'drama'...more like 'engaged'. I have a '70 Mach 1 , Cleveland, 4speed, no power steering. does have power discs tho. You are *involved* when driving it. so much more satisfying to really *drive* your car and not just sit in it. the radio doesn't work and that's cool.
