What a guy you are Stevie. I'm a do-it-your-selfer on just about anything, but need a little help on occasion. Your tutorials give me confidence to get into it all the way. Greatly appreciated brutha. thanks. Hope you'll keep 'em comin.
Yes am a female n I did my bathtub by looking at this video, one q? Where did u get that thingy wen u said plan b since the cross didn't work..were did you get the cross too.
Man just replaced the Symmon's TA-10 with after market spindle should got the Symmon's and paid extra money. Had to use old one spindle was clicking tho just change out the washers. next got get the 3/4 Extractor tool to remove the front seat but no leaks so far yeah! Thanks for the video Steve. PS what the plumper, say to doctor, I think my pipes are clogged lol!
Good job on the video and the "f" word was necessary because if that seat would have stripped it would have been horrible! Real video for real people from a pro thanks for sharing the skills and knowledge you have!!!
nice job steve seems like you guys have alot of symmons out your way never see them here mostly moen and delta here for single handle a lot of old price pfister and kohler and gerber for three handle
The actual control knob that you removed several times to turn on/off the water. That part on my shower it spins around in circles and won’t grip those threads I think it’s stripped on the inside. Now I can’t turn on my shower. Can I replace that part only ?
Hi Steve, hey had a question. Are all the parts the same on those Temptrols? Because I am working with a Model C and some of the parts for seat and body wandering if it would fit. If they are all the same?
Great video Steven. I’m working on one at my house and I’m having trouble removing the cold water seat as you did. What is the “plan B” tool you used? Thanks
Hey Steve, Is Drano safer then that weird Acid stuff? I found a white bottle that says it's for clogged drains and when I used it on my sink the smell was terrible, Smoke was coming from the pipe and it felt really hot when I touched it.
Hello there, I've got a question I've just replaced the whole cartridge assembly with a NOS one...so, 3 months later it's leaking from the handle(looks like it's leaking from behind the spindle behind the cap assembly) I notice that its leaking cold water only(even when its on hot coming from the spout) does this mean the cold water seat is bad? or is there a gasket,o ring behind the cap assembly that has gone bad crating the leak(which is really more of a slow drip at this point than a leak) any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
Thanks for the tips Steven!! Got a question. If the element in the TA-10 spindle doesn't move freely internally, could that be a cause of lack of enough hot water at the shower head when there is plenty of hot water from both the kitchen and bathroom faucets?
I replaced everything and it is leaking still but at the handle! Its coming thru between the lock nut and the spindle. Im so confused!! Thats the damn leak i was trying to fix in the first place! I replaced both seats and the spindle cartridge . Is water even supposed to be getting there?
Great Videos Steve big help! I did all of this to a tee but when I put the spindle in and tighten it up cold water is pissing out of the front of the spindle. I did have a hell of time getting out the cold water seat and ended up hammering a 3/4" chisel into it to get it to unscrew. Could I have damaged the inside housing causing it to leak out the front?
It turns out the new spindle is smaller than my old spindle. This symmons shower control is original to the house and nearly 30 years old. I put the old spindle back in and it works fine no leak. The Spindle is really tight now though hard to turn the water on and off. They also sell a cap replacement. I am wondering if the cap is also smaller and might fit the new spindle and stop the leak? Thoughts?
Hey Steven where u get that neat square head screw thingy from? I need one bad possible strip inside cannot unscrew wit the regular square manufacture part they provided me with & yes I have a damn symmons model C.
hey there i recently started to run a complex with 500+ units. started ordering washer kits for $8, have you used the TA-9 rebuild kit? if so how do you recommend removing the retaining ring for the cold washer? cant seem to get them off and im tired of replacing a ton of exspensive cartridge/spindles! thanks. informative if its your first time cracking these open
when i rebuild them i make a hacksaw cut on retaining ring and put a screw driver in the cut to pop the retaining ring off the new ring will go back on just fine i usally make my cut on a angle so there is more room for the screw driver to get in there it will open up the ring for easy removal i found this works every time i have a hacksaw blade with just black tape on end so my hand does not get cut up in my toolbox it works well for this
Good video. Having done a few repairs, this is nicely done with basic "how to do" instructional. Nice to watch for a review if not experienced. Even then, easy to forget things if haven't done many recently! A 5 star video!
My mom's condo has Symmons shower valve and leaking just like this one. Are these valve better than moen? In terms of maintaining. Thanks for the video
Hello,I just installed a symmons shower valve but when diverter switch is in the spout position with the valve open water also comes from shower head as well, any tips are that will make it fix are welcome, thanks
tub shower valve has a white diverta ////shower valve has a black value control sounds like you have a shower valve trying to be use as a tub / shower valve ...install a white diverta .take the black out out
Lmao! Going to make "the blue glove club... Why do you wear gloves" my wallpaper on my school IPAD most definitely ! Make shirts I'll buy a couple for sure !!
probley a sand hole in the brass valve internally you will have to change out the valve complete worst case situation sometimes happens ,have you changed out the front and back seats and spindle also???
Thanks for very helpful video! How did you know TA-4 and TA-10 are the correct replacement parts? I have a Symmons SafetyMix Ette (no diverter). I don't know if TA-4 and TA-10 are compatible for the Symmons SafetyMix Ette. How can I find model number?
What a guy you are Stevie. I'm a do-it-your-selfer on just about anything, but need a little help on occasion. Your tutorials give me confidence to get into it all the way. Greatly appreciated brutha. thanks. Hope you'll keep 'em comin.

The actual control knob that you removed several times to turn on/off the water. That part on my shower it spins around in circles and won’t grip those threads I think it’s stripped on the inside. Now I can’t turn on my shower. Can I replace that part only ?

Brad1237202 yes it should click freely sometimes they get slugish and the hot water will be wimpy best to change the spindle to a new one

Thanks god for the copyright warning I was worried on someone stealing this video especially looking for the part in your unorganized part box!
OK, so where does one get one of those tools for removing the rear seat?
I have this same valve. No leak, but the tub / shower diverted isn't working. Would the repair be the same? Idea on a cost?

Dose the TA-10 replace the TA-9??
Was that just a half drive on that 4 way?
...and was plan B a 3/4

@@stevenlavimoniere thank you very much I removed and installed the part that you mentioned and it worked 👍
Where do we get these parts?
Thanks for posting this. Question: do you have to turn the value on/open before replacing?
no
A master plumber once told me it should be partially open before removing the spindle. I’m not a plumber, just sharing what I was told
I change all these parts and still having a drippy faucet
