- You decide it's time to replace your faucet... you have your tools ready... first let's turn off the water... then oh snap...literally...the handle to the angle valve shut off valve snaps... now what? You've come to the right place for help 😀
Thank you so much for this video!! I’m doing a complete bathroom remodel by myself and panicked when I accidentally broke off the hot water shut off valve. You legit saved me and I cannot thank you enough for this video!!
You are a gd SAINT sir! My valve was broken, didn't realize. Went to replace a part and nearly flooded my apartment. I saw this and IMMEDIATELY got things shut off and fixed. Seriously, a million and a half thank yous!! ❤❤
Great informative video. It's amazing how many videos there are about changing angle stop valves on UA-cam, but hardly any about changing the HOT water valve specifically . Nice job...
The plastic handle to the cold water broke. There is no leak. Now what do I do to replace that handle. NOT THE SHUTOFF VALVE. Do I have to crawl under the house to shut the water off? Can I just remove the screw and put a new handle on? Is there a choose of handles? What do I look for in a replacement handle? Are they Universal? Thanks much.
It worked! Takes a few times turning it on and off while continuing to tap it, but it worked!
Thank you so much for this video! you just saved me from calling the plumber!
Good job. Tight spot! Thanks
Thank you for the information. It was very helpful. Great video
Those are both compression fittings I don't think either requires Teflon tape, nice video though
agreed
hank you so much for this video! you just saved me from calling the plumber!
Good suggestion that for a broken HOT water valve, we might be able to get away with just turning the hot water supply line off at the water heater tank, rather than having to bother the other neighbors in the apartment building by turning off all water to the building. Thanks!
The water seal is between the ferrule and the valve body. There is no water seal between the ferrule nut and the valve body so the Teflon tape is not serving any purpose.
Just had the handle snap off on me and ran across you video in preparation to change out the valve. Noticed in your video that you didn't remove the compression fitting before installing the new valve. Thought that was always a good thing to do when replacing the valve (and sometimes a necessary step). Can you explain why you didn't change it and maybe do a video on doing this step.
Its definitely best practice to switch out the compression fittings because the old one might not align right after being smushed for years. So it might be leak free on the old valve but not the new.
I also know this comment is 4 years old and you probably already know this but as a just in case someone else has this same worry or question, figured I'd share what I learned
What experience I’ve found - Plan on replacing anything connected!! Been long time shutting any shutoff - If along time - They All start leaking!! Good grief!!
Thank you, Sam!
Very well explained.
What size is your able stop? Is it make or female the one you bought?
how do i stop a leak if its coming out of the center screw (handle broken) and cannot turn off main line..so any fixes while its leaking..?
My water shut off too dishwasher broke right off. There’s another shutoff for cold water line above . Tried turning it off to stop lower broke off- Made it start leaking worse- So left it open for now. So Since it’s 9:30 pm - Nice I hate plumbing- Shark bites are nice - But Why - is plumbing So tempermental???? Thank you! Ps Old chic here
How long it takes to lose pressure?
That's great when you have water pressure like a 80 year old man taking a leak.
Excellent vid ! Good job...
Very helpful 🏆✨🏆
Very helpful
Perfect! Thanks
Greta Video Thanks Man !
Thank you!!
Thanks
1/4 turn stop is a good idea
Shouldn’t use teflon tape!
can you link the handle so I could buy one at menards?
My cold side is the one that broke.
I have a question sam
Allstate interrupted the start of the video so I'll be forever reminded never to do business with them.
WTheck! I hate plumbing!!
Jesus
You didn’t say anything about the cold side!
@ 5:10- 6:44 he talks about what to do if the cold side needs repairing and where to shut off the water at the main.
Yes he did
