I always felt there was something deeply haunting about this song. The singing always sounded off, its in a lower key, slightly strained almost. To me it sounded like wailing, as if it was someone drunk and suicidal singing discordantly, trying to relieve some happy memories. This just confirms it to me, its a *deeply* melancholy song, sang as if it's happy. This is phenomenal, thank you.
Reminds me of the Buckingham Square Mall in Aurora, Colorado. It was torn down in 2007. I was born in 1995, so all my memories of it are of an almost totally empty, dead mall. I used to really enjoy going there with my dad as a kid though, because it was so peaceful, we were usually the only people in the whole mall. I don't remember going into any of the shops, because I think there were only a small handful that were still operating by then. The décor clearly hadn't been updated in decades so it was kind of like stepping back in time. Then in 2007 they tore it down and built this bustling (but incredibly ugly) outdoor strip mall. I don't understand why modern day American shoppers prefer outdoor strip malls over the indoor malls of old. They seem like basically the same thing only the indoor malls protect you from the elements.
vietnam vets on their deathbed, with the faint memory of this song playing in their head, still troubled with what they saw and what they did in that far away land
My grandpa was a Vietnam vet he died 2 months ago. he was a M60 Machine gunner he said he doesnt like to talk about it, but the stuff i did hear was saddening.
Perfect way to spend a Halloween running around in an abandoned mall listening to the Mamas and the Papas on reverb over a scratchy loudspeaker. Now if I could only find an abandoned mall…
This is funny. Probably nothing more than a still photo of a long-ago shopping mall taken after hours with music and sound effects added afterwards using editing software. Haha; suddenly everyone becomes a philosopher. Typical fabricated Americana .. has it risen to art-form status? "Euclid Square Mall was a shopping mall in Euclid, Ohio, United States. It was opened in 1977 as a regional mall with two anchor stores: local chains Higbee's, and May Co. It was demolished from 2017-2018. Wikipedia Closed: September 19, 2016" (Wiki)

it's not that deep
I's a nostalgic song, 100% sure about that.
@@Jesseleurs the works created by artists are often deeper than ya think, my guy
Yeah one of singers was sleeping with her dad
@@HowlingSaguaro97not this one.
The creepy abandoned picture of his mall really adds to the eerie vibe of this song.
And the fact that I am listening to this at 4am

Brings memories of being dragged all over the mall as a kid by my mom back in the early 2000s
This is like a memory flashback from a movie
I wanna walk around dead malls all of a sudden.
This might just be my vibe

This is what depression sounds like
I think this sounds beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Why this song reminds me a cold war shooting in a jungle or a dune?
Because its an anti war song from the Vietnam war
This mall had dillards and toys r us and Taco Bell this mall was torn down and turned into a Amazon warehouse
Perfection 💕
This sounds like there would be singers and musicians in the mall
