When she visited her South African Grandmother, she was dismayed to see the local children had no where to play. She promised herself that she would build a playground for them, and announced it during a TV interview following her appearance on Hollands got talent. With her success and the support of well wishers and fans, she set up the organisation Gelukskinders ( Lucky Children) and built her first Amira Park. She donates half of all her earnings to the foundation, and so far she has opened 21 or 22 playparks with ongoing maintenance regimes attached. She has also donated equipment to nursery schools, handed out gifts at Christmas, and helped relieve problems caused by natural disasters, such as covid or typhoons. Another project she has launched, with kit supplied, is sporting tournaments. Other charities and youth groups have enjoyed her support too - Diversity, Veterans, youth choirs.... she is one of God's givers. We are blessed to have her.

Among the celebrities and artists out there who claim to be Christian, Amira is miles ahead of them in her endeavor to "talk the walk, and walk the talk"! She is fearlessly unabashed concerning her faith in the Lord! We could use 10,000 other world stage influencers as committed as she.

Her efforts win the hearts of all those who hear of her and hear her sing and testify of her faith and hard work, giving thanks, as she says, to God for her talent by sharing it with everyone.
Where her charity work was inspired, it was the black folk of the family of her mother's nanny that they were visiting, in Ikageng, the low income housing village next to Amira's family home town of Potchefstroom which is almost 90 minutes by road, west of Johannesburg.
Amira was 7 years old then, and, bored with the adults' activities she and Vincent sought out their usual access, in every neighbourhood in Holland, to a play ground: finding the local kids having nothing of the sort, her wishful dream was born, having yet no idea of how to fulfill it.
The name of her charity, coined with help of family & friends three years later, could equally mean "happy children", for in Dutch & Afrikaans it's really the same word, and this goes with her intent: "children have the right to play."
She's indirectly encouraging the local municipalities to join in and repair the other play grounds there, and make this more and more the norm for these neighbourhoods. It's not the best for those families to walk to their neighbouring, more affluent town, to use the play ground there. Typically there always is play ground in the low income neighbourhoods but it hasn't been maintained, as showed in this video.
Amira has sponsored other charities' efforts to protect the endangered rhinos here. As for sports, the Commonwealth nations' sport of netball, exclusively for girls of course, came for its World Cup to Cape Town last year in June - we have a truly mild winter, specially around there, where there is a "Mediterranean Climate" which is found also only in Morocco, within Africa. So, Amira helped start netball clubs and a small tournament where there were no clubs, in her part of the country, 'far from' Cape Town for those with no hope of travelling that far, as all the spectators from here, at the world cup, did.

Great reaction! Since the age of 9, she has been donating monthly half of her earnings as an artist to her foundation every month. Amira's foundation has built, installed and maintains 21 playgrounds in South African schools so far. Amira also sponsors girls' softball teams, providing them with uniforms and equipment so that they can participate in school championships. During the epidemic she led an initiative to donate food to children whose families were unable to work. She always donates toys and goodies to the children at Christmas and Easter. Amira also visits elderly centers to sing for free. She also supports causes for rhino conservation, she supports actions for children with autism, and causes to support veterans, among many other actions. Already at the age of 10, Amira went to the Vatican City to receive the Humanitarian of the Year award. Do you know any international stars who donate half of everything they earn from shows, concerts, CDs, DVDs, streams, on a monthly basis for the last 10 years? I'll wait.

Nice reaction. Their never seems to be any effort to sing. I love this whole album. She does donate 50% of income for playgrounds in South Africa. She also, is involved with the orphan rhinos. She has an outstanding voice, but even bigger heart.

"not always appreciated and looked after" -- Can you elaborate and explain further? If you're referring to her playgrounds, from what I can tell, Gelukskinders sees to their maintenance very well.
