- More vintage footage from the early days of the R&N in 1991. We begin in January with a Mt. Carmel turn starting at St. Nick yard, and finish in July by following a West Cressona-Reading turn from Port Clinton to Leesport. This was before they started originating trains at Port Clinton and were still using the old Conrail reporting locations.
Excellent video! I'm glad they brought back that scheme on the "new" GP39RN's. I like how you caught them in the process of being painted and lettered.
Great video of the RBMN the way they started , And all the progress they have made😂
The RBMN sure has come a long way in the past two decades. While the current fleet of EMDs has it's own appeal, the early U-boats were just something else. Interestingly enough, this is the first video I've seen of that CF7 leading. Every other that I've come across, it's always buried among a group of U-boats.
Check out my video R&N, the Early Years part 1. Near the beginning there is a shot of one of the first Reading Turns with both CF7's on the head end.
A very Great video keep it up
Many greetings DB Systemtechnik
I love that CF7. We have a CF7 (former BCLR now G&U 1500) with 2 horns (a P5 and an A200) It looks like this one has 2 as well. I have always wondered if all the ATSF rebuilds from the program had this sort of arrangement or if it was just on a few. Any ideas?
no just some of the first ones they rebuilt, the Florida central cf7 that doesn't have one and it was the 2nd run of rebuilds.
Love it
Sounds like an Amtrak K5LA
What was that location around 4:10, and are the remains of that bridge still there? I can’t seem to find it anywhere on my map app.
40.788243,-76.313488 on Google maps. The location is Big Mine Run Jct. The bridge was for the Ashland Upper Route. It's still there but overgrown with trees. The fill leading to the bridge on both ends was stripped away for culm in the 80s.

Thanks, man. I really appreciate it. I’m guessing the Ashland Upper Route was abandoned around the same time that the fill was excavated for culm?
@@maxm2317 No, it was abandoned much earlier, in 1959.
@@fmnut
Ah, I see. Thanks again for the information. Is that about the same time the Centralia Branch was abandoned?
@@maxm2317 To the best of my knowledge, the Reading never had a branch into Centralia. Centralia was served by the Lehigh Valley. I don't have any references to date when that line was abandonded.
