Folks, absolutely fantastic. Really enjoyed your video. What an ordered family life you have. I'm a city slicker whoused to spend several weekends a year on a dairy farm. I enjoyed the people and the hard work. It was a real beneficialchange from living and working in town; quiet, peaceful and rewarding. The farm changed from mixed farming, milkingabout 23 cows to strictly dairy production milking over 60 cows. It went from145 acres with pastured cows to 600 acresstrictly housed cows and from quiet chatter and munching cows to robots, exhaust, loud noise and a 60 ft. wide holdingtank for liquid tankage. It was just not the same. The city was quieter. I truly admire the choice you've made. God love you all.

Thanks for bringing back the memories: The smell of the fresh milk, the vision of the cows' breath waiting in line at the parlors door in January, my fathers' gentle and quiet way with the cows, the cold doctor pepper he always kept in the milk cooler, my Papa taking me to the store for 5 buckle boots, my Papa putting me on the back of Jack the mule while he cultivated the tobacco. My Moms' Sunday roast beef, my Mama always making sure I had an extra quilt to keep me warm, and tons more.
Good people are hard to come across in this world, I'm glad I came across you. Good luck in all you do.
    thanks,
    trent

Farm kids are in touch with reality. They know where their food comes from and appreciate all life including the ones that are taken to feed them.

Flash-forward to 2022 with gas prices set to hit $5/gallon and then go even higher - is proof this man made the exactly correct decision for himself, his family, and his farm.👍
I hope they've done well up till now, and will still prosper going forward.

Such a great interview by Rural Heritage. The Julians are people I'd like to know, indeed; well balanced and realists, raising happy and adjusted youngsters. God Bless them all. Y'all Be Safe!

Wonderful video! I enjoyed the way Jason treated his animals. It's clear he appreciates them for who they are and what they do for him. I think he sees his horses more as partners than as employees. I think there is nothing wrong with using horses for farm work as long as they are treated fairly, humanely and not overworked or underfed. A working horse can have just as good of a life as a pleasure horse if they are treated well. It's clear that Jason appreciates his horses, knows them and treats them well. He probably does everything he can to make their lives good.

I thouagly enjoyed this documentary! This young man certainly knows farming and the proper care of all of his animals which he relies on to make his farm productive and successful! And, it's a wonderful thing that he has introduced his children to the importance of work which will make them good citizens!
And, one of the most important things I took away from his talk, is that he's a Christian and this is a most important standing!

Im sorry.....not to be critical.......but over those years........what did you do with your money ? I grew up on a dairy farm..started milking 20 cows.... over the years we did expand to 50 cows. Milked with bucket milkers. Had 160 acres 100 tillable. Never rented any other ground...never bought off farm corn or hay. Dairy was the only income. No off farm jobs. I can honestly say......we never had an issue with debt. Debt yes.......but could always pay the bills. Now Im age 62 and sold the cows 4 yrs ago. Still row crop farm.....and yes......we made it ! Could retire......but as most farmers..... stubborn to do so. Yes.....now I do work off farm part time lumber yard job.
So the way you explain things....Im dizzied ! What went wrong ?

I see Belgians a lot here, but this is the first time (and imo it's an outrage) I see check reins on draft horses. I REALLY can't understand why someone would even think using those horrible things at all, let alone on a draft. They need to be able to lower their heads all the way down so they can pull and use their whole body instead of being forced keeping their head up and having to pull with their backs. Get rid of those things.

It won't hurt them if there in good shape used to working and get plenty of short breaks throughout the day . Done this with my grandfather when I was a kid n teen . He used smaller riding mules and horses and it never hurt them at all we took good care of them good food plenty of breaks

A work ethic, hard work, is mandatory to success and clean living.. Today's society seems to have little of both.
Give me; give; give, give me spoiled crybabies feed from the tit of the freebee programs of the government.
The opposite what this country needs.
