Qarun was among the people of Musa AS but he was a traitor against them. He was so wealthy and the way Allah SWT describes his wealth was very unusual. He was very pride and arrogant. Allah SWT blessed him with so much wealth but he never thanked Allah SWT. Qarun make a parade in the street with his wealth to show off. But Allah SWT responded by showing His power and strength. So, Allah caused the earth to swallow him and his dwelling place. Then he had no group to help him against Allah, nor was he one of those who could save themselves. In Malay the word treasure in our language is “harta karun”. Harta means property, karun came from Qarun’s name being the richest human in history. Thus when we say treasure hunting is literally means looking for Qarun’s property. 😂
