AWESOME VIDEO!! I'm still VERY new to WF 5.0 but I have been using ProE since Ver 9 in 1990. I have Subscribed to your channel, and will look thru all of your videos!
Hi James, I seem to remember there is a way to use 3D drawing information but not off the top of my head. Looks like we have an idea foe a future tip! Thanks, Mark
Hi Mark, Thank you for a very thorough explanation. It's helped a lot with our company moving over to 3D drawings. I do have another questions - how do I export these combined views with the annotation to Creo View Lite?
I'll assume this is being done via PDMLink, but the same hold true within Creo save as. It's just not as straight forward to get to. What is included when a Creo Parametric file is converted to a Creo View file is determined by the options set in a recipe file. This will determine simple things such as included datum planes, or more complicated such as 3D view information. There should be detailed information at PTC for what the recipe file editor looks like and how to use it.
Thanks Mark, I got that much from searching the web. I've actually manage to manually edit the recipe file, and I've found the switch that turn on Combination views from copying them from the GRANITE.PVR file which was among the rest of the CREO files. Now I'm trying to find the trigger that will allow certain combination views to show the simplified rep as you have shown in your video. I've just got into this about 10 minutes ago, do you have any guidance for the correct trigger to look for? By Trigger I'm referring to look something like: adapter/simplifiedReps=1 I still need to clean up my recipe file but currently it has these in it: file=proepview-rcp ver=5 adapter/convQuiltAsDatum=0 adapter/outputAuthorState=1 adapter/useTransparency=1 adapter/outputThumbnail=1 adapter/thumbRecipe=MC:\\PTC\\Creo 3.0\\M050\\Common Files\\apps\\prodview\ ecipe adapter/outputAnnotPlanar=1 adapter/convViews=1 Adapter/convCables=1 adapter/outputDoublePrecision=1 adapter/outputDatumPlane=1 adapter/outputDatumCurve=1 adapter/outputDatumPoint=1 adapter/outputDatumAxis=1 adapter/convLayerState=1 adapter/convAllStates=1 adapter/simplifiedReps=1 adapter/convXsec=1 adapter/convExplodes=1 adapter/convProProSeqences=1 adapter/convFeatDimLayers=1 adapter/9/name0=All States adapter/9/value0=convAllStates adapter/9/width0=19 adapter/9/name1=Simplified Reps adapter/9/value1=simplifiedReps adapter/9/width1=16 adapter/9/name2=Orientations adapter/9/value2=convViews adapter/9/width2=10 adapter/outputAnnotScreen=1 adapter/outputAnnotFloat=1 adapter/outputSource=1 adapter/outputAssembly=1 adapter/outputDrawing=1 adapter/outputGzipCGM=1 adapter/outputGzipDWG=1 adapter/outputGzipHPGL=1 adapter/outputShape=1 adapter/outputTessellation=1 adapter/outputSubComponent=1 adapter/outputMassProps=1 adapter/outputWireframe=1 adapter/outputDatumQuilt=1 adapter/outputDatumCsys=1 Like I said it is a bit of a mess :) I unfortunately cannot get my hands on the editor, so I'm stuck with the manual process.
Not off the top of my head, sorry. You can download the editor at PTC. Don't remember where, but that is much easier to edit as it puts it in GUI form.
Did anyone ever figure out how to import these into a 2d drawing? I make combined states with dims and when I insert the combined states into a 2d drawing the dimensions don't show up. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
Change the color in your start part 1. Open the model template or start part 2. Click View > Color and Appearance > Select a color > Apply > Close 3. File > Save

Can these Combined Views be used in the 2D Orthographic Views? (Very helpful videos - thanks)
