Ya'll gotta actually listen to it fr cause you skipped through a great verse from SleazyworldGo and skipped to the end of DC The Don verse and you ain't let tiacorine verse play all the way through which makes it sound worse than it actually is 2rare was ass though
I get that alot when i bring up "rap falling off or dying" that I'm being an old head. And I really do believe that it in a general sense it kinda is mainstream wise. And even on an inde level. It's not about making music any more. It's doing things for attention. Artist now when they start, (I have found) are told to focus on every other thing but muisc. Being told things like, "dont make an album you don't have a good enough following". That is just so bleak to me. And with sort of all media now.., you do have lower radar underground stuff that is still trying to do anything but even then you have alot of artists who want to but simply quit or curve to "what people want". And typically when someone is trying something new, its not gonna be received perfect because again it's this idea "people consume only what they want". But the best things I find can come from doing things that people don't want or don't know they want. And from that a new appreciate is grown and again all goes back to the passion of the artist and the passion of the consumer and its just not there anymore on a large scale level with new stuff. But that's just kinda my reasoning on it. I don't it's " dead" but I will say the way in which it's consumed and how the business is more on attention than music is why things feel just in general so "passionless".
Honestly I think Domo is tripping a bit. I can see where he's coming from, but it's a fact that 10 years ago you didn't have to go out of your way to find good music. I could just casually ask one of the homies who they got on the playlist and boom, good music. I hate when people say "you just gotta look for it", because you didn't have to in the 2000s. It just makes me believe that any artist you have to "look for" isn't really all that good.
@@NewWorldDreams47 I don't know, the way we have access is a double edged sword. With music and most things it is nice to have this access to stuff that like you said before hand was not available. And really it's all about how you find it. Like sometimes what you and your friends listen to aren't always the same and so on. But to hearing suggestions from people you follow, like I was watching shawn cee vid and he mentioned Isaiah Rashad, never had listened to him and now he's one of my favorites of all time.., so it's not just all negative or all good.., I think honestly it's more about artist know they don't like have to try really anymore. Cause that's not what mainstream people want or rather that doesnt get easy views and the most views. I feel part of the listener is to blame too, like even I'll say my attention has kinda been ruined. There's layers to it all I feel.
@@topdown13 I see what you mean. I first heard Isaiah Rashad on the TDE cypher in 2013, but didn't actually start listening to him until 2016. Not too far removed, but in 2016 people were mainly listening to Young Thug who I wasn't very fond of outside a few bangers. The oversaturation of music is killing hip hop. R&B has been trash for awhile, and ever since like 2020 I haven't really heard any albums that I absolutely had to listen to. It really is a consumer issue, and the fact that music is now targeted towards certain audiences instead of the masses.
@@NewWorldDreams47 no fr man. And I feel how albums are done play a huge role in that too. Like albums outside from like major artistic names, your cole, Kendricks, etc have made stand out projects.
