Trainees of Coast Institute of Technology during the Coast Region KATTI 2022 Music Festival. The trainees are performing the popular Mwazindika dance with renowned Taita Taveta songs. The Mwazindika dance and songs are applicable in Wadavida happy moment celebrations like weddings, celebrating a victory, happy harvest season, child birth, dowry pay ceremony, amongst other moments.
😊There is a myth that, this dance can only be performed by a member of the community. When the Mwazindika drums are played, they please and awaken the gods of Taita land. 😂
It's a unique dance just like Luo and Luhya drum dances.

Maduma Gheaika Mwai
Which translates to Arrow roots to initiate the girl
This is a traditional pre wedding song. Performed during a period just before the wedding when the girl to be married was secluded from the community and fed by her female family members while being taught the traditional principles of living as a married woman.
