THE ROSE / THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM - Roger Williams

Roger's magnificent arrangements of, "The Rose" and "The Impossible Dream." Both songs were favorites of Roger, who loved their melodies and touching inspirational lyrics. This concert, "An Evening with Roger Williams" was performed at the Crystal Cathedral Auditorium in 1992, with Johnnie Carl conducting.

I was playing in the orchestra that evening for this magnificent concert. I'll never forget how moving so many of Roger's songs were... people in the audience were moved to tears several times... especially during this stunning medley. There will never be another Roger Williams...

I first discovered him through my High School friend who was playing his arrangements. I bought two books of his and really loved playing them and making my own alterations/arrangements. It was because of him that I developed a love for arpeggios and fancy finger work. And now, 55 years later, at my wife's request, I'm working on an arrangement of The Impossible Dream with my violinist friend to play in church for an offertory.
