Even when he was off-screen, he was like a boogeyman; you never see him, but you know he's somewhere in the background of the chaos he caused pulling the strings on his next big plan. Even with something as big as WW3 you know that Makarov was somehow involved. Not to mention how he was always several steps ahead of the good guys, with all the red herrings they ended up chasing. Reboot Makarov just doesn't have that kind of energy, he just seems like a dick.

And when Makarov escaped the prison, and we know he will return because he's still alive and at large, Price knows that Shepherd started it all that he got away in the end. This was probably one of the reasons Price took him out in his office at the end of the game.
One thing this campaign did that I appreciate; fleshing out Makarov as a terrorist threat. He's far more sinister than most CoD villains and you actually despise him

Don't like Soaps voice actor. Don't like Makarovs character model, or his voice. They only nailed Ghost. The mission itself though, is quite epic. Everything else, the original modern warfare series did better.
So, Makarov threatened the airport as bait so he can actually attack the stadium instead. Then, when he gets captured, the hit on the stadium was actually double bait to get TF141 away from the airport in order to blow it up. But by that point TF141 already knew that Makarov threatened the airport earlier, so logically the airport would have already been evacuated and kept off-limits by the local police. Not only would the bomb have been found and defused while the police is around, but even if it did explode the casualties would have been minimal since threatening a terrorist attack on an airport leads to "Get everyone the fuck outta here" before a disaster occurs. At best, he would have done massive property damage and a handful of police casualties. Makarov would have caused more damage if he didn't say anything about the airport in the first place and instead started with the stadium, or even use a third location that's left untouched and only serves to slow TF141 down while hitting two targets. There was no point in telling TF141 about the airport except for plot convenience. But instead, the airport bomb explodes anyway. It's like TF141 were the only ones who knew that Makarov threatened the airport and didn't bother to let the authorities know about it. Makarov isn't a mastermind, the main characters are just stupid. EXTRA: Why did Makarov even attack those locations in the first place? In the original, Makarov's intention in attacking the airport was clear: he wanted to blame the US for massacring thousands of russian civilians to start WW3. Even reboot's "No Russian" made sense as new Makarov wanted to blame Urzikstan for blowing up a russian plane, thus starting a war between the two countries (except it didn't, because fuck stakes am I right). But here, his men were posing as russian cops and paramedics, so he wasn't trying to pin the blame on either the US or Urikstan here. He's just attacking the stadium and blowing up an airport in an eastern european city for no reason.
The writing id weird because in his bio they said he was one of Barkovs Forces and after he fell Makarov did this attack to blame Urizkstand but the problem is this takes place before MW2019 happens
I like how Verdansk is supposed to be some post-soviet city, but it absolutely does not look like one. It looks like they have designed a regular US city and just populated it with signs in Russian. I guess game designers should travel more often, because judging by the video they have never been to any Eastern European country

NGL the when soap and price entered the underground driveway and an ambulance almost crashed into them, I thought "That. That's Mararov." Would've been so nice if the game wasn't set up as him being in prison, not sure what's the reasoning behind setting him up as someone with a history of failure.
Tbh, the new mw3 campaign is not worth playing (Well... For me). The OG MW3 back in 2011 was the best. Even the other MW's of 2007 and 2009 were epic. This...After viewing the full gameplay from another UA-cam video, it doesn't follow the original story from the OG. I hate it honestly. (Some of you may not agree with me, but it's my personal view of the new game)

I have to be honest, this and the first mission were both the only missions that I appreciated.
Operation 627 (the Gulag), Flashpoint (Verdansk Stadium) and Danger Close (AC-130) were the only missions that I enjoyed. The rest were just meh.

The lore of Verdansk is that after the Soviet Union collapsed, the West helped Russia rebuild it, hence why it has some Western influence.
