You can get multiple copies of a piece of clothing for three reasons(based on Love Nikki and Shinning Nikki). 1. dying, you can change the item's color. 2. evolution, with multiple copies of an item you can evolve it into a more complex piece 3. Crafting when you get a certain number of an item you can combine it with other items to create a new item (this might be wrong but again I'm going off of what I know from Love Nikki and Shining Nikki)

In other Nikki games, when you have more than one of any item you can "deconstruct" them for various currencies and materials, some pieces can be dyed another color and will have different stats, and others can be used in crafting recipes to make entirely different clothes. I imagine at least one of these mechanics will be added to Infinity Nikki. Also, in every Nikki game so far there has been slots to save outfits: I think like 3 are given for free, and then extras can be unlocked if you spend money on outfits or the gacha.
Fantastic to hear. Those were the only "unknown" wishes that I had. Everything else I was confident would be present/fixed by release: - English VO - More complete VO (there are some scenes that aren't voiced that REALLY should be, and likely are meant to be) - Performance Improvement - Couple other super minor things But the game in its current state already delivers a very impressive package.

Can't wait for more information about the monetization in the future, I'm really curious about how they'll approach it - some of the old outfits could be INCREDIBLY expensive (I remember the first $100 dress)
Sounds like some normal GACHA BS. But compared to what Mihoyo is cranking out, where it can cost ~$500 to "guarantee" a character, that still sounds preferable 😅

In Love Nikki, the reason why people dress up and conduct "styling battles" is due to an ancient blood curse that causes extreme agony to anyone who resorts to physical violence, and the main antagonist wants to break that curse to wage war. Shining Nikki is a sequel that takes place 640 years in the past of Love Nikki, because Miraland was destroyed by a disastrous phenomenon called the Sea of Memories, causing Nikki to travel to the past in attempt to prevent it. There was this huge reveal in the story that when the world kept getting destroyed by the Sea of Memories, Nikki would keep traveling back in time in attempt to save it over hundreds of thousands of times. The newest plot development also gave us hints as to how the blood curse came to be and who might be responsible for instigating it to begin with.
@@SchwahnGaming it's wonderfully insane. I can't recommend anyone getting into any of them because it's a horrible gatcha game but it dips into some pretty terrifying cosmic horror pretty often and then you go back and run a cute cafe with hello kitty and friends.

in the last nikki game ( shining nikki ) when you get many duplicate clothes you can decompose them and you get "crystals" that you can use for power up skills in love nikki ( the game before shining nikki ) duplicate clothes you decompose to create new clothes that only can be obtained decomposing old clothes of the same quality. example: if you decompose 50 clothes 5 star quality you can craft new clothes 5 star quality.
I really think you'll enjoy the Shining Nikki UR Promo videos. Granted, they're basically just glorified ads to buy into the gacha, but DAAMMNN they always make me tear up! My favs are Void Stardust and Star Sea Dream. Especially if you've followed the story for years, star sea was incredible

Hard agree! The amount of effort and detail for what are essentially ads sprinkled with flakes of storytelling is INSANE!! Personal faves are the Star Sea Dream and Tides Rise to Everlasting Flames promos!! Their outfits are GORGEOUS and are still my favorite sets to this day. If I could put in one request to Infold: please just copy-paste Shining Nikki's outfits to Infinity Nikki. I know there will be plenty of original sets they want to make for I.N., but simply carrying over the sets from SN would basically be free money for them in my eyes.......
Thanks for delivering a review that explained how the game will work! I was looking for that. here are some potential explanations, based on older Nikki games (so it might turn out completely wrong but hey, it's a lead): - dress up contests so far were mostly part of the story or arena challenges. In older games you do get something for winning them (exp, gold, clothing pieces, crafting resources) but it's usually low-value stuff, and the main goal is to play around with your wardrobe, and unlock the next story chapter. - So far no, you never needed pay-walled clothes to win those contests, and I hope it stays this way in Infinity Nikki! There were always 5 hearts/UR clothes available to craft for free, it just takes time. Additionally, these older Nikki games allow you to collect a small amount of the paid currency for free every day for doing daily tasks, in addition to awarding them for completing suits and as achievements, so while a free player won't be able to catch 'em all, it's possible to save up dias and get some of the premium outfits. - swimming - What you said, plus: 1) a big dress, when soaked, can get super heavy, tangly and very difficult to swim in. 2) some random swamp isn't something I'd fancy jumping into if I had an option to just glide over it. Hell knows what kind of leeches live there! OK, I'm half-joking here, and not all Nikki clothes are heavy dresses, but when ti comes to clothes, Nikki takes this stuff seriously, and adding a mechanic of when you can swim and when you can't, with a suitable wet model or dripping animation to each clothing piece... would be too much, right? I suspect they will later release clothes that let you swim, and locations that allow it :). - repeat clothes are there so that your chances of getting the stuff you want don't go up with time, and you keep spending on the gacha! :P In older Nikki games, they're used to craft higher level clothes though, and there's also a mechanic of recycling the clothes you don't need. - getting the NPC clothes - In LN you could get their outfit sometimes (usually it was free and low or mid tier stats). In SN all outfits are supposedly designed by the in-game characters, and the cover image shows them wearing it or something similar, but it's typically not the basic outfit their sprite is wearing in the story mode (and if it is, it's free and low tier). The high-tier paid outfits have their own lore - they are goddesses, legendary heroes, ancient queens or fairy-tale characters from Miraland, and you could meet them in event storylines that accompany time-limited gacha that you get them from. So I guess there's a bit of that but not as in-your-face? - we do have favourite outfit saves and skin tones in the older games, so fingers crossed they'll be added to Infinity as well
Oh wow, give me a moment to get through everything. - Style Contests - That makes sense, the one that the game makes you do would have blocked the story. But it was really easy to win. Now, mind you, it was also the Tutorial Style Contest, and was the first one. But with the amount of items, and especially with things like Eureka and the Infinity Heart providing point bonuses, I can't imagine them being TOO difficult to win. - Pay-Walled Contests - That is about what I would expect. The Premium clothes would definitely make some contests easier to win, if that is what you were all about. But I think part of the "heart" of the game would be to try to make your own outfit within the "style" of the contest. Premium outfits feel more for person desire and choice, rather than necessity. - Swimming - Another person added the comment of an outfit that allows you to swim. Given how you need a special outfit to glide, another one to wash animals, and another to catch bugs. I imagine this is exactly how swimming will be handled. it will be a Wonder Outfit, and it might not even be available at launch. - Duplicate Clothes - That is largely what I expected here. Just none of those mechanics were in the game "right now". I would expect either the recycling mechanic, or the ability to make the lower tier clothing "better" by getting/crafting copies of it. - NPC Clothes - I mostly just want the sparkly crane that is in Nonoy's hair... - Favorites / Skin Tones - Very glad to hear that, and I shall hope they find their way into Infinity Nikki.
@@SchwahnGaming The way the contests are handled in the older games is you create styles to win the levels indeed, and the difficulty increases over time, with additional tags or required items sometimes making it a bit more fun. However, It was never hard to win it, and SN even has a button that just automatically puts the best combination of clothes on (most look ridiculous as you'd expect), and another to automate the contest itself, so you can just keep reading the story. Premium suits do give you a larger win margin and a higher position in the hall of fame for that particular chapter, but given how many chapters are there, it's pure flex. The place where your styling skills are actually judged is the arena where players submit their interpretation of a weekly prompt and rate each other's submissions. In this place, the stats don't matter, and it's all about making other players love your idea. Given that the designers will want you to keep playing, I don't think they'd flat out block any parts of the core gameplay by demanding a premium suite - except if it can be obtained for free (through daily login and repeating the base tasks, just like in LN and SN). Nikki community is actually quite vocal about it, I hope they won't risk losing the dedicated player base...
for the swimming thing I'm really REALLY hoping there'd be a mermaid event somewhere in the future that mermaid outfit can make us deep dive in the ocean. I'm also waiting for idol Nikki, fairy Nikki, sleeping wear Nikki, Mecha Nikki, Nikki with weapons...but if that doesn't come true it'll be fine and last but not least the MOST IMPORTANT dress of all star sea dress Edit: I forgot to mention how great the video was I'm very happy how open minded you are of the franchise and I agree a lot of the point that is made in the video, thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
Omg yes this video is exactly what I was looking for! So many other UA-camrs barely go into the game critically and just gush over everything! I'm still a bit wary coming from the other Nikki games, it's such a big change for Paper, but I'm excited to see how they build upon this
It might be because PaperGames requested "general positive" videos and to let them review the video before release. (Although they also said both were optional) They reached out to a lot of smaller creators for this Beta. So that language might have worried some of the other creators. No idea though. I just made my video and was honest throughout.

I am a Chinese Nikki game player and watched webcast of infinite Nikki for more than twenty hours two months ago when it was first public tested in china. Merely watching the webcast has a calming effect, and I also agree on many ideas you proposed! Besides, paper game announced that they have invited one of the producer who used to work for the series The Legend of Zelda, as one of their game’s producer. That might be part of the reason why some of this game design is familiar. By the way I really recommend you to try the photograph system next time, it’s really fascinating if you enjoy photography in real life! At last, the beautiful sceneries and song of the wishing warehouse is amazing! It’s good to choose it as the end of this nice video😊❤!

Im actually really excited, i use to play the mobile games back in highschool. The contests in the mobile games awarded the diamonds use to purchase new clothes and clears usually gave blueprints for new sets of clothes. Also from the mobile game, you would use other pieces of clothing to craft new clothing and some suits had like teirs to them so getting mutiples of the same pieces was necessary for new clothings sets, so I'm guessing their trying to work that into this version of the game. 42:55 These are all in the mobile games from what I remember, so hopefully they will be implemented in this one as well.
All very good things to know. It sounds like there is a good chance that will be how a lot of things work in this one as well, they just didn't have it in the current build of the game.

I always imagined what a Shining Nikki and Genshin Impact baby would look like, so I was extremely excited to see Infinity Nikki get announced the first time a while back. And also since Infinity Nikki is an alternate Reality to the other Nikki games which share 1 reality, I’m excited to see what the story will be like here because I it’s new even to veteran players. I love the idea of not having stamina bar. It's like impending doom 😅 Stamina bars and encumberment should be a toggle in game options. "Beautiful open world" (that you can't explore freely). "But it's for realism" (but in fact it's there to slow you down so you'll have the illusion of good value when you'll check how many hours you've played).

I'm so excited! here are some of my thoughts: I think the reason they added the whole styling battle feature was maybe just for tradition because it was in the previous games(and many dressup games in general) I'm not sure how hard they will get, but in the previous games it wasnt fun at all, because you basically have to equip all of your most high scored items to win, and then you have to repeatedly go through the cutscene. im really surprised they kept it the same in this game, it feels a bit redundant. I'd loved to have seen a more fresh take on dress-up gameplay instead of styling battles, where it's not about score, but more about personal expression and playing around. like having to style a certain item or combine specific things. I don't have much faith in paper games when it comes to adding skintones, they've been iffy about them in both of their previous games. In shining nikki, they only have three darker skintones to choose from, one of which you can only get after pulling for a full UR set(expensive!!!!) Outfits and make up are also very badly optimized for them too.. I wouldn't be surprised if infinity nikki continues with these issues because they've continuously gotten away with it Also, no outfit saving?! What's with new dress-up games coming out without even the option to save outfits?
I would say that I would hope the Styling Battle would be refined/expanded. But it feels like it is kept simple and stat based as a method to push micro-transactions for better outfits. They COULD make it a lot of fun. But I think that just isn't a large priority. Unfortunately.
37:32 In the other Nikki games you would have multiple copies of lower star items for crafting purposes. Specifically there would be outfits that may take you like A week or more to complete that you would use those lower tier items to help craft. But from everything I’ve seen that doesn’t seem to be present in this game so I’m unsure if maybe it’s just not added yet because they’re still working on it or if it’s just completely not in there. but this mechanic exists in both love Nikki and shining Nikki so I would think this game is no different. Or maybe later in the game there will be a way you can decompose these clothes and turn them into the raw materials used for making the other outfits possibly.
My guess is that it just wasn't added yet. This was a pretty early, invite only, build. The test group was VERY small from what I could tell. It was Version 0.7 as well. I imagine that those systems are still being worked on and/or finalized.

Thankyou for this review, Ive been a nikki fan since highschool so seeing a full open world game release is honestly like a dream come true. I was worried there would be too much focus on the parkour and combat in an attempt to widen the audience that the game may loose its Nikki-ness but honestly it feels excatly how id want a Nikki game to be. Regarding the world design, Miraland (in every other nikki game) has 7 nations, each with their own style. Nikki usually starts in the Apple Federation, which is closest to modern day earth (although it has a slightly european feel with paved walkways, sandstone buildings and tons of flowers) this starting zone is probably a rural area of the Apple Federation. Other areas usually include an Asian inspired country, a desert region, a cyberpunk city, land of the elves etc, its a little confusing but Im certain most of these areas will be released since it allows more outfits to be sold to players. Also re: characters getting to be character without being adds. In other nikki games suits (a full outfit) are usualy designed by other stylists in the Nikki world (or sometimes by Nikki herself) and often by characters you meet. So while we might not be be able to "get" Ninoy, future gatchas might include outfits shes designed. And one more thing I wanted to add (i know this is a long comment but im excited to see someone talking about this so in depth) In previous Nikki games it was possible to compltet the main story (which consisted of plenty of style battles) without engaging with the gatcha, or using the gatcha but as a free to play. If you were dilligent about crafting and leveling outfits the PvE was very do-able. The PvP however was where gatcha was most important. There were two PvP modes: style battles and photography contests, both of which were heavily dependant on having extravagant high level outfits, usually only available through gatcha. So far I havent seen any PvP in this game but I would like it to be available as the photography contests were incredibly fun and style battles were a big motivator to level outfits.
Actually Nikki usually begins in Lilith/Ninir and this game is no different (the bike guy mentions Cicia which is in Ninir/Lilith and people from this kingdom are known for having AAB names)
How "good" was the PvP in the previous games? I have played a lot of GACHA games, and some they put a LOT of rewards into the PvP, which pushes the grind/gacha. Other's, it is an "option" and CAN help. But the rewards aren't over the top.
@@SchwahnGamingthe entire endgame content of the two previous games was pvp, you have a weekly style battle pvp and a styling competition. The style battle definitely does push the gatcha since it relies entirely on your outfit stats, as a free to play I've never made it into the higher ranks but I've seen some more dedicated f2p players end up in top ten with years of grinding. The styling competition are also weekly but depend on player votes, stylists are given a prompt and have to dress Nikki up in an interpretation of that prompt, and then other players vote for which they prefer. You get rewards for voting and for how well you place, this one also pushes gatcha since in shinning Nikki pdompta are often connected with the most recent gatcha event but since stats aren't the main focus as long as you're creative with your posing, camera work and filters you can get into the top 50 easily as a f2p. So far infinity Nikki doesn't place as high an emphasis on styling battles so having high Stat outfits is more up to personal preference, and gatcha pulls will be more about if players really want the outfit than needing it for combat, but it will have an effect on the pvp potential styling battle and styling competitions
Nikki is not genshin killer and never meant to be. This game has it's own identity and minds it's own business. Regardless if it's gonna surpass hoyo just like lads(from same devs btw) or not - it doesn't matter at all. You play Nikki for Nikki, not for "another genshin"

Never seen such details reviews on Infinity Nikki before, you really does a great job on this. There something very unique about the Nikki Series, one or more of Nikki friends will be end up die just to progress the story forward and Nikki will ne more mature in the story later on.
This is my first time hearing about this series and honestly, I'm going to play XD. I am not one to play as girls in games but like games like Disney dreamlight and others where the girls have better clothing options and it's more fun to make dresses and such. I definitely want to try these types of games. It's looks so fun to style clothing and be pretty and to use make up (cause come on, guy fashion tends to be monotone. Just look at the difference between tuxes and dresses XD). I can't wait to play this game when it comes out!

It's a nice thorough review of Infinity Nikki and I hope the game comes to pc soon. That being said I didn't like the dig about Zelda and Wuthering Waves merely being a Genshin clone personally tbh.
I mean, Genshin is technically a Zelda clone. Breath of the Wild released in 2017, and Genshin was in 2020. But regardless. This game thankfully felt within the same "realm" of both of those games, without being an exact copy the way that like WuWa did.
I'm no alien to GACHA games - Final Fantasy Record Keeper - Final Fantasy Brave Exvius - Dissidia: Opera Omni - Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis - Danmachi: Memoroa Freeze - Arknights - Girls Frontline - Azur Lane - Honkai: Impact 3rd - Genshin Impact - Honkai: Star Rail - Zenless Zone Zero And I'm sure there are a few I have since forgotten that I played. So, it would be difficult to "surprise" me at this point. But I can stoll be disappointed
"pricing for whales", the gacha? Probably. The game itself won't be paywalled, you should be able to play the game f2p and enjoy the story. But I also understand some people don't like gacha games.(◍•ᴗ•◍)

I'll be honest since I played love Nikki as a kid. I would not know any of this I was too busy with making my character look pretty.

in the last nikki game ( shining nikki ) when you get many duplicate clothes you can decompose them and you get "crystals" that you can use for power up skills
in love nikki ( the game before shining nikki ) duplicate clothes you decompose to create new clothes that only can be obtained decomposing old clothes of the same quality. example: if you decompose 50 clothes 5 star quality you can craft new clothes 5 star quality.
I imagine it will likely work SOMEWHAT similar in Infinity Nikki, once the game is closer to release.
I really think you'll enjoy the Shining Nikki UR Promo videos. Granted, they're basically just glorified ads to buy into the gacha, but DAAMMNN they always make me tear up!
My favs are Void Stardust and Star Sea Dream. Especially if you've followed the story for years, star sea was incredible

Hard agree! The amount of effort and detail for what are essentially ads sprinkled with flakes of storytelling is INSANE!! Personal faves are the Star Sea Dream and Tides Rise to Everlasting Flames promos!! Their outfits are GORGEOUS and are still my favorite sets to this day. If I could put in one request to Infold: please just copy-paste Shining Nikki's outfits to Infinity Nikki. I know there will be plenty of original sets they want to make for I.N., but simply carrying over the sets from SN would basically be free money for them in my eyes.......
Thanks for delivering a review that explained how the game will work! I was looking for that. here are some potential explanations, based on older Nikki games (so it might turn out completely wrong but hey, it's a lead):
- dress up contests so far were mostly part of the story or arena challenges. In older games you do get something for winning them (exp, gold, clothing pieces, crafting resources) but it's usually low-value stuff, and the main goal is to play around with your wardrobe, and unlock the next story chapter.
- So far no, you never needed pay-walled clothes to win those contests, and I hope it stays this way in Infinity Nikki! There were always 5 hearts/UR clothes available to craft for free, it just takes time. Additionally, these older Nikki games allow you to collect a small amount of the paid currency for free every day for doing daily tasks, in addition to awarding them for completing suits and as achievements, so while a free player won't be able to catch 'em all, it's possible to save up dias and get some of the premium outfits.
- swimming - What you said, plus: 1) a big dress, when soaked, can get super heavy, tangly and very difficult to swim in. 2) some random swamp isn't something I'd fancy jumping into if I had an option to just glide over it. Hell knows what kind of leeches live there! OK, I'm half-joking here, and not all Nikki clothes are heavy dresses, but when ti comes to clothes, Nikki takes this stuff seriously, and adding a mechanic of when you can swim and when you can't, with a suitable wet model or dripping animation to each clothing piece... would be too much, right? I suspect they will later release clothes that let you swim, and locations that allow it :).
- repeat clothes are there so that your chances of getting the stuff you want don't go up with time, and you keep spending on the gacha! :P In older Nikki games, they're used to craft higher level clothes though, and there's also a mechanic of recycling the clothes you don't need.
- getting the NPC clothes - In LN you could get their outfit sometimes (usually it was free and low or mid tier stats). In SN all outfits are supposedly designed by the in-game characters, and the cover image shows them wearing it or something similar, but it's typically not the basic outfit their sprite is wearing in the story mode (and if it is, it's free and low tier). The high-tier paid outfits have their own lore - they are goddesses, legendary heroes, ancient queens or fairy-tale characters from Miraland, and you could meet them in event storylines that accompany time-limited gacha that you get them from. So I guess there's a bit of that but not as in-your-face?
- we do have favourite outfit saves and skin tones in the older games, so fingers crossed they'll be added to Infinity as well
Oh wow, give me a moment to get through everything.
- Style Contests - That makes sense, the one that the game makes you do would have blocked the story. But it was really easy to win. Now, mind you, it was also the Tutorial Style Contest, and was the first one. But with the amount of items, and especially with things like Eureka and the Infinity Heart providing point bonuses, I can't imagine them being TOO difficult to win.
- Pay-Walled Contests - That is about what I would expect. The Premium clothes would definitely make some contests easier to win, if that is what you were all about. But I think part of the "heart" of the game would be to try to make your own outfit within the "style" of the contest. Premium outfits feel more for person desire and choice, rather than necessity.
- Swimming - Another person added the comment of an outfit that allows you to swim. Given how you need a special outfit to glide, another one to wash animals, and another to catch bugs. I imagine this is exactly how swimming will be handled. it will be a Wonder Outfit, and it might not even be available at launch.
- Duplicate Clothes - That is largely what I expected here. Just none of those mechanics were in the game "right now". I would expect either the recycling mechanic, or the ability to make the lower tier clothing "better" by getting/crafting copies of it.
- NPC Clothes - I mostly just want the sparkly crane that is in Nonoy's hair...
- Favorites / Skin Tones - Very glad to hear that, and I shall hope they find their way into Infinity Nikki.
@@SchwahnGaming The way the contests are handled in the older games is you create styles to win the levels indeed, and the difficulty increases over time, with additional tags or required items sometimes making it a bit more fun. However, It was never hard to win it, and SN even has a button that just automatically puts the best combination of clothes on (most look ridiculous as you'd expect), and another to automate the contest itself, so you can just keep reading the story. Premium suits do give you a larger win margin and a higher position in the hall of fame for that particular chapter, but given how many chapters are there, it's pure flex. The place where your styling skills are actually judged is the arena where players submit their interpretation of a weekly prompt and rate each other's submissions. In this place, the stats don't matter, and it's all about making other players love your idea.
Given that the designers will want you to keep playing, I don't think they'd flat out block any parts of the core gameplay by demanding a premium suite - except if it can be obtained for free (through daily login and repeating the base tasks, just like in LN and SN). Nikki community is actually quite vocal about it, I hope they won't risk losing the dedicated player base...
for the swimming thing I'm really REALLY hoping there'd be a mermaid event somewhere in the future that mermaid outfit can make us deep dive in the ocean. I'm also waiting for idol Nikki, fairy Nikki, sleeping wear Nikki, Mecha Nikki, Nikki with weapons...but if that doesn't come true it'll be fine and last but not least the MOST IMPORTANT dress of all star sea dress

Omg yes this video is exactly what I was looking for! So many other UA-camrs barely go into the game critically and just gush over everything! I'm still a bit wary coming from the other Nikki games, it's such a big change for Paper, but I'm excited to see how they build upon this
It might be because PaperGames requested "general positive" videos and to let them review the video before release. (Although they also said both were optional)

I am a Chinese Nikki game player and watched webcast of infinite Nikki for more than twenty hours two months ago when it was first public tested in china. Merely watching the webcast has a calming effect, and I also agree on many ideas you proposed! Besides, paper game announced that they have invited one of the producer who used to work for the series The Legend of Zelda, as one of their game’s producer. That might be part of the reason why some of this game design is familiar. By the way I really recommend you to try the photograph system next time, it’s really fascinating if you enjoy photography in real life! At last, the beautiful sceneries and song of the wishing warehouse is amazing! It’s good to choose it as the end of this nice video😊❤!

Im actually really excited, i use to play the mobile games back in highschool. The contests in the mobile games awarded the diamonds use to purchase new clothes and clears usually gave blueprints for new sets of clothes. Also from the mobile game, you would use other pieces of clothing to craft new clothing and some suits had like teirs to them so getting mutiples of the same pieces was necessary for new clothings sets, so I'm guessing their trying to work that into this version of the game. 42:55 These are all in the mobile games from what I remember, so hopefully they will be implemented in this one as well.
All very good things to know. It sounds like there is a good chance that will be how a lot of things work in this one as well, they just didn't have it in the current build of the game.

I love the idea of not having stamina bar. It's like impending doom 😅 Stamina bars and encumberment should be a toggle in game options. "Beautiful open world" (that you can't explore freely). "But it's for realism" (but in fact it's there to slow you down so you'll have the illusion of good value when you'll check how many hours you've played).
Also the illusion of rewards as you find shrines or whatever else to increase your stamina

here are some of my thoughts:
I think the reason they added the whole styling battle feature was maybe just for tradition because it was in the previous games(and many dressup games in general)
I'm not sure how hard they will get, but in the previous games it wasnt fun at all, because you basically have to equip all of your most high scored items to win, and then you have to repeatedly go through the cutscene. im really surprised they kept it the same in this game, it feels a bit redundant. I'd loved to have seen a more fresh take on dress-up gameplay instead of styling battles, where it's not about score, but more about personal expression and playing around. like having to style a certain item or combine specific things.
I don't have much faith in paper games when it comes to adding skintones, they've been iffy about them in both of their previous games. In shining nikki, they only have three darker skintones to choose from, one of which you can only get after pulling for a full UR set(expensive!!!!) Outfits and make up are also very badly optimized for them too.. I wouldn't be surprised if infinity nikki continues with these issues because they've continuously gotten away with it
Also, no outfit saving?! What's with new dress-up games coming out without even the option to save outfits?
I would say that I would hope the Styling Battle would be refined/expanded. But it feels like it is kept simple and stat based as a method to push micro-transactions for better outfits.
They COULD make it a lot of fun. But I think that just isn't a large priority. Unfortunately.

In the other Nikki games you would have multiple copies of lower star items for crafting purposes. Specifically there would be outfits that may take you like A week or more to complete that you would use those lower tier items to help craft. But from everything I’ve seen that doesn’t seem to be present in this game so I’m unsure if maybe it’s just not added yet because they’re still working on it or if it’s just completely not in there. but this mechanic exists in both love Nikki and shining Nikki so I would think this game is no different. Or maybe later in the game there will be a way you can decompose these clothes and turn them into the raw materials used for making the other outfits possibly.
My guess is that it just wasn't added yet. This was a pretty early, invite only, build. The test group was VERY small from what I could tell. It was Version 0.7 as well. I imagine that those systems are still being worked on and/or finalized.

Thankyou for this review, Ive been a nikki fan since highschool so seeing a full open world game release is honestly like a dream come true. I was worried there would be too much focus on the parkour and combat in an attempt to widen the audience that the game may loose its Nikki-ness but honestly it feels excatly how id want a Nikki game to be. Regarding the world design, Miraland (in every other nikki game) has 7 nations, each with their own style. Nikki usually starts in the Apple Federation, which is closest to modern day earth (although it has a slightly european feel with paved walkways, sandstone buildings and tons of flowers) this starting zone is probably a rural area of the Apple Federation. Other areas usually include an Asian inspired country, a desert region, a cyberpunk city, land of the elves etc, its a little confusing but Im certain most of these areas will be released since it allows more outfits to be sold to players.
Also re: characters getting to be character without being adds. In other nikki games suits (a full outfit) are usualy designed by other stylists in the Nikki world (or sometimes by Nikki herself) and often by characters you meet. So while we might not be be able to "get" Ninoy, future gatchas might include outfits shes designed.
And one more thing I wanted to add (i know this is a long comment but im excited to see someone talking about this so in depth) In previous Nikki games it was possible to compltet the main story (which consisted of plenty of style battles) without engaging with the gatcha, or using the gatcha but as a free to play. If you were dilligent about crafting and leveling outfits the PvE was very do-able. The PvP however was where gatcha was most important. There were two PvP modes: style battles and photography contests, both of which were heavily dependant on having extravagant high level outfits, usually only available through gatcha. So far I havent seen any PvP in this game but I would like it to be available as the photography contests were incredibly fun and style battles were a big motivator to level outfits.
Actually Nikki usually begins in Lilith/Ninir and this game is no different (the bike guy mentions Cicia which is in Ninir/Lilith and people from this kingdom are known for having AAB names)
How "good" was the PvP in the previous games? I have played a lot of GACHA games, and some they put a LOT of rewards into the PvP, which pushes the grind/gacha. Other's, it is an "option" and CAN help. But the rewards aren't over the top.
@@SchwahnGamingthe entire endgame content of the two previous games was pvp, you have a weekly style battle pvp and a styling competition. The style battle definitely does push the gatcha since it relies entirely on your outfit stats, as a free to play I've never made it into the higher ranks but I've seen some more dedicated f2p players end up in top ten with years of grinding. The styling competition are also weekly but depend on player votes, stylists are given a prompt and have to dress Nikki up in an interpretation of that prompt, and then other players vote for which they prefer. You get rewards for voting and for how well you place, this one also pushes gatcha since in shinning Nikki pdompta are often connected with the most recent gatcha event but since stats aren't the main focus as long as you're creative with your posing, camera work and filters you can get into the top 50 easily as a f2p. So far infinity Nikki doesn't place as high an emphasis on styling battles so having high Stat outfits is more up to personal preference, and gatcha pulls will be more about if players really want the outfit than needing it for combat, but it will have an effect on the pvp potential styling battle and styling competitions

This is my first time hearing about this series and honestly, I'm going to play XD. I am not one to play as girls in games but like games like Disney dreamlight and others where the girls have better clothing options and it's more fun to make dresses and such. I definitely want to try these types of games. It's looks so fun to style clothing and be pretty and to use make up (cause come on, guy fashion tends to be monotone. Just look at the difference between tuxes and dresses XD). I can't wait to play this game when it comes out!

It's a nice thorough review of Infinity Nikki and I hope the game comes to pc soon. That being said I didn't like the dig about Zelda and Wuthering Waves merely being a Genshin clone personally tbh.
I mean, Genshin is technically a Zelda clone. Breath of the Wild released in 2017, and Genshin was in 2020.
But regardless. This game thankfully felt within the same "realm" of both of those games, without being an exact copy the way that like WuWa did.
