Good work, just as a comment, in the catholic world, there are many violent catholic jesus movies. One of them is called the Nativity Story. It sounds like a nice movie all kid friendly and little drummer type of movie... WRONG! It's filled with decaptitated baby heads, young teen girls getting dragged around by roman horsemen, random scenes of people getting tied up and bleeding to death and also a random man getting cruxified just to say the messiah is coming. And literary no one doing anything to stop enemy horse men killing random civilians, just chanting. That movie scarred me for a long time, I was 6 when I saw it and my parents don't even care about my reaction. In fact they get angry when I acuse them of ruining my childhood. Took me almost 5 years to regain my happy self. I even had to become a sanrio fan.

As a JW child, I wasn't allowed to watch "violent" movies. I could, however, read wonderful stories in the Bible about r*pe, *ncest, people getting their hoohas and frank and beans skewered with spears, beheadings, genocides, child sacrifice and people smitten with leprosy by the "God of love". Good times, good times.
When I used to be a JW and worked on these movies, and there was a woman getting sexual harassed, and everyone pretended like nothing was happening

As a Jew, I cringed as soon as I heard 1st century Jews use the name Jehovah. They would’ve never uttered the Name, and it certainly would NOT have been Jehovah. That shit is mamash meshuga 😂
I remember pointing out to a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses that the only people using the Divine Name in the 1st century were Gentile occultists spicing up their incantations with the name of a powerful foreign god, and they just ignored me.
I'm former catholic and even I cringed. It's common knowledge that God's name was so sacrosanct that almost nobody dared to speak it out loud because it was so powerful. That's why he was referred to by other names and titles.

I’m a Christian, just not a JW. I can confirm that there are many Bible stories that are NOT fit to be shown… well, not only to children, but in cinema overall. When Stephen Lett mentioned something about telling the stories exactly as they are… let’s just say I thought of quite a few Old Testament stories that would be horror movies.

I feel like the average Christian doesn't idolize the murderers and slavers of the Old Testament nearly as much as the JW cult does. They put psychos like Joshua and Elijah on an equal footing with Jesus, basically emulating the Muslims and Arians and other unitarians that believe Jesus was a created being, albeit a prophet capable of performing miracles. I'm glad the early Church decided not to take the Second Commandment too literally, interpreting it as meaning that one shouldn't worship statues and icons rather than suppressing the creation of all figurative art like the Jews and Muslims (and some heterodox Iconoclastic Christians) interpreted it. Even the Protestants don't reject figurative art outright, some sects iust don't allow it in a religious context.

@@Neku628 Yeah, I don't like iconoclasm, I think beautiful art and architecture is sacred, especially if it is old, and I think it is particularly uncivilized to destroy tombs. I think we ought to be more respectful of the dead, like I don't think we should destroy ancient burial cairns to build freeways over them, we could just build around them. I don't know how I feel about the contents of ancient tombs being disinterred, I mean archaeology is important and it is nice that we get to see the artifacts but I think maybe we should just make replicas and then put the originals back where we found them or something. I think the human remains should stay where they were put, not be put on display. So many wonderful monuments and structures have been destroyed thanks to the hardline interpretation of the Second Commandment. It is theorized that even the sphinx was defaced in this manner, either by early Christians or by Muslims. Chipping the noses off statues was a common iconoclastic method.
I just love how even though the JW dramas seem well produced, a lot of the time the actors ruin it by making it look like a high school play 😂

It's still so strange looking back on some of these movies, at 18:12 I actually know that guy. Him and his family were family friends of my family and some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I hate that this cult tricks people like this to stay in it. Just a reminder to hate the cult and not the people within it, they don't know any better.
I am forever thankful that I was not raised JW, their isolation from real culture breeds terrible movies that would’ve disturbed me as a kid. The elders who refuse to sanitise bible stories for an audience of kids come across as eighty year old edgelords, it’s so strange.

The problem with religions trying to predict the end is, they forget or deliberately forget what Jesus told the apostles. No one knows when the world will end except God and Himself. 53:45 Very interesting. Those pillars are the representation of the goddess Asherah, who some scholars argue that were Jehovah's consort in ancient hebrew mythology. She is refered as the Queen of the Heavens in the Book of Jeremiah, but is mentioned by name in 2 Kings. Except in NWT. The NWT, reffers her just as the "holy pillar", her name is hidden in the JW's version of the bible, as well as her image, as we can see here, Josiah is destroying simple pillars, they're no representaion of any god. Looks like the Watctower hiddens very well the fact that Israel was once politheist.

My major deals with history, religion, and culture. I cringed as soon as JW decided to reject real history and substitute their own.
I remember watching walk by faith not by sight for the first time as I 5-6yr old and having an anxiety attack over it.... my anxiety wasn't diagnosed til after I left the religion
I do keep up with JW material but I haven't watched their movies. I'm 9 minutes in and god damn this is violent. For an organization that won't let you watch rated R movies they certainly love violence!

when I was a little person going up and down the streets of New York City selling watchtower and awake magazines, I often wondered why the magazine covers were and are so dreary and dark. I could never find an attachment to such scary looking literature. This violent movie here demonstrated shows how the governing body is putting fear and terror into serving Jehovah instead of reaching God in love and awe. Witnesses lack reverential respect for God Almighty. With all the money and technological talents the governing body has taken from the great crowd free of charge, one would think that the acting and nationalities would be more authentic and professional. I know witnesses who got teary eyes watching this video when the angel came down to kill the Assyrians . Witnesses are deeply emotionally attached to this negativity, and don’t realize it. They need to believe that Jehovah will save them although this is contrary to what Jesus taught. This is why many suffer from mental depression. It’s sad that a parent who is a J.W. Has to force their children to watch this horrifying darkness even after they begged the governing body to tone the violence down. Sadly, these misguided parents will rethink their right decision and say that the governing body is right and that these men make better decisions for their children then they do. You are right. The theme is “dooms day” to scare people into relying on the governing body. Thank you for your video

i don't know how watchtower didn't see it but in the josiah story they are just so obviously the bad guys. people literally minding their own business and they get attacked, lose their livelihood, like how is the irony lost on them that they're praising actual Is1s behavior. like this is what is1s did verbatim, desecrating graves, destroying temples, k1lling people who worshipped differently. it boggles the mind that this is seen as righteous.

My takeaway from watching this: Man, Assyrians were some total Chads. "Jehovah, your god, IS WEAK!" goes hard and is also accurate. Yahweh gets wrecked by iron chariots. Ashur > Yahweh/Jehovah. This whole story is just Israelite wish fulfillment fantasy anyways. In reality, the Assyrian Empire was probably never defeated by the kingdoms of Israel and Judah even once. The Hebrews just sat there grumbling under their breath like "Yahweh is gonna get you!" as the Assyrians chased them away or whatever. I don't think they were ever particularly proficient in combat.
Holy shit, that first movie fucking traumatized me. My JW grandma showed me that video when I was 8. She had watched it before me KNOWING that it was graphic. She made me sit through the entire thing. What she should've done is fast forward the graphic scenes, tell me to go in the other room, or cover my eyes.
I, an adult, have seen worse in news films from the modern middle east...but to a kid..stabbing a bearded guy--which just as easily could have been his father--and see him thrown like a ball of wastepaper and him hit the altar and his blood splashes on the altar---is quite...edgy in my opinion....definitely not behaviorally modern boy stuff..
