    Bonjour Dylane, super leçon ! Pourriez-vous nous parler aussi de "qu'il faille" ? Merci ! 🙂🇫🇷

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  2 роки тому +1

      Faille c'est le subjonctif de faire, utilisé après que dans certaines phrases.
      Je ne pense pas qu'il faille se dépêcher :)

    Je viens de regarder cette vidéo et comme toujours c’était vraiment utiles. Merci. Cependant, j'utilise beaucoup "il me faut + infinitive". Je n'ai alors pas besoin du subjonctif. Ça marche?

    Bon travail Madame! For imparfait, can « we had to obey otherwise we would be punished » work ? So it translates to il fallait obéir sinon on sera punis ?

    Hi Dylane, thank you for this lesson. When you use il faut que when can that be substituted for devoir and vice versa please, eg il faut q'on parte maintenant vs On doit partir maintenant. Under what circumstances would each apply. Hope that makes sense. Mike

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  2 роки тому +2

      Mike those are very similar, it's just a different way to use them. None of them implies a stronger statement. Purely preference :)

    Dylane thank you for this wonderful piece of the lesson. But I have question ❓;
    Do we use the conjugated form of the verb "devoir" in the same way you have used "Il faut que" when giving advice or information specific to a person??
    Or what's the difference between the use of "il faut que" and "Il doit"

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  8 місяців тому

      Il faut que is an impersonal expression while Il doit is more directed towards the person. It's a different structure but the meanings is the same :)

  • @rch19991
    @rch19991 Рік тому +1

    Merci Dylane! That has really helped me to understand. But a question.... there is a third way of using 'il faut', non? 1. Il faut faire attention = you have to be careful (general idea.) 2. Il faut que tu fasses attention = YOU have to be careful (focused on the person after que.) 3. Il te faut faire attention = ?? Doesn't this also mean 'YOU (specific person) have to be careful'? What then is the difference in meaning or usage between those last two? Is one more formal? Thank you!!! 🙂

      Personally I have never used this type os sentence structure. I believe it's more for literature and poetry :)

      I've seen this form as well and I wonder if it's taught because most French learners are not going to be confident with the Conditional anytime soon!

    Dylan, I'm trying to understand the French mentality. In the sentence: "Il faut partir maintenant.", if it is general and we are not particularly addressing the people present at the location - as opposed to the second example with "on" that you provided - who is actually being addressed?

    • @peterkrause1842
      @peterkrause1842 2 роки тому

      Good question Mehrdad. Who are the people in the general / infinitive statement we are referring to?

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  2 роки тому +2

      Good question :)
      Il faut partir maintenant - simply a passive way to address people in the room
      Il faut qu'on parte maintenant - directed to me and the people around
      I hope it makes more sense, but yes they are very similar :)
