Wow!!! My sewing machine and I, we are still on an adjustment stage so I started to accomplish all the steps from the movie but I wasn't sure at all that the result will be positive but it worked!!!! I changed the length and width to adapt the bed to my windowsill and it fits perfectly!!! All 3 fur babies already love their new furniture :D THANK YOU!!
Made this today! So easy. I did buy pre-made ribbon that matches the fabric. Love the results. My cats love it too!

Absolutely perfect! My wife wants me to make a cat house for an outdoor cat that has adopted us after a coyote killed the mother and the rest of the kittens. A neighbor was able to dispatch the coyote because his little kids had a close call with it. Anyway, unfortunately, we can't find him a home and due to our old territorial dog, we can't bring him inside. So, after looking for something to put inside the house I plan on building, I found your video and my wife and I agree that this is the perfect solution. Thank you for posting this video and for being so thorough...being new to sewing, I'm going to need it - lol.

Thanks for your comment. I have since made some minor adjustments to how I fill the beds with stuffing, but the original way is still fine. Maybe you could mix and match colours and fabrics that you have and make some beautiful beds for others as presents or for animal shelters too.

Actually, it's not really my design. I had a very old catbed that looked like that, so I copied the pattern. Using different fabrics and different colours are my design though. I use recycled materials.

Thank you. I have made 2. They are easier than the round beds (made 1 too hard to stuff!) I used old towels for the bottoms. Cats like the old towel beds but not the round bed from new leopard denim. Picky little masters.

Just make it about 10cm (about 4 inches) both in length and width. That worked for me with a larger cat, although it was really testing my little home sewing machine!.

I use anything that is cosy and warm. Polar fleece, flannelette and woolen blankets. Polar fleece is the easiest to work with. Thanks for your comment and glad you like them.The ones in the video are made to be reversible and one side is flannelette (old sheet) and the other is Polar fleece (old blanket).
What are you using to stuff the beds
Thank you for sharing this video! I've made two cat beds so far and planning to make more! Your instructions are so clear and your pleasant personality made this an easy video to watch all the way through. I made one of the beds out of a soft fake fur that my cats adore. The side are a little floppy. Do you recommend using more stuffing to prop it up?
Yes, If you need a fuller feel to it. I did make one a bit too full, but Gary the cat loves to sleep in it anyway..squashing himself into it, as only cats can do!
You may also insert a rectangular piece of half inch or lesser thickness foam for support in sides
How many pillows did it take to fill the bed?x
Depending on how full you want the bed to be. I used about 1 and a half bedpillows for mine.

I have a question... if I want to put in the bottom like a thick plastic to cover like a raincoat, but it is thick... the needele its the same that we use always??? Thankssssss bless you...
Depends on your sewing machine and the needle you use. You can try it and see if it is successful, or ask a sales representative in a specialised Sewing Shop or Fabric shop. They should be able to help you.

I am trying this before kitty arrives! Is it laundry machine safe? If I put it in a washing bag? What kind of fabric can I use for this? Thank you so much!
You can use any fabric that is machine washable. I chose fabric (usually recycled from old blankets/polar fleece/flannelette sheets or towels) that I think a kitty would really like and would find snuggly enough to appreciate. You don't have to use a washing bag to wash them in a machine, just make sure you get the excess fur off the beds before washing and clean the filters of your machine of any fur after the wash. Dry on a clothesline or in a large dryer.
