This is surely the best version of Shosholosa I have ever heard. A song the Zulus would sing travelling from their kraals to the mines in the old days. They and the Ndebela are my two favourite tribes in South Africa. Such happy people. And the Zulus are something else, how could such happy, gentle, sweet and polite people be such formidable and fearless warriors?
A few of the boys in this video are now in the South African Youth Choir, they've 'grown up' a bit but are still wonderful. South African youth choir is a mixed male and female high school age choir. I know they will be in Canada next year.
I saw a South African choir perform when I was in Germany. They were really good. When we talked to them, they said they were from near the Drakensberg Mountains, so it was much warmer in Germany to them. I wonder how far they are from this choir.
I am not going to criticise the American Boychoir! Our boys choirs are too precious. I have 4 of their CDs. Drakies recently toured USA and I believe, performed with ABC.One of the ABC boys commented(on UA-cam I think)- "I am a member of ABC, and they are miles better than us!" If I hand the palm to Drakies it is because there is an electricity between them and their audience that is totally unique.
They are the best boys choir in the world - not only do they sing, dance and play African music, you should see what they do with Bobby Darin's "Splish splash" or a Bach oratorio! there are 15 CDs and 3DVDs available at the school's website.
I absolutely love this group, being in theater and involved(mostly voluntary) in choirs since I was in 6th grade, I can say this is most unique and proudest choirs I have ever seen, Each one of these members show pride in what they are singing and performing. One question, and I hope I ask anything to start a riot: What is the differance between Zulu and Afrikaaner( I hope i spelled the right)? Thank you David
Awesome is the word! And everyone was smiling, they really love their singing. I believe you have to have a singing voice to get into the school, but am not 100% sure.
The same young man from the Xhosa greeting song is now wielding an instrument which looks less like an A4 format paper - but still I find his manner eery, even with an A5 format rattle in his hands. Coco

@ampersandtay This is my favorite version. If you're an SA'er you'll know why.
what is the name of the song?
There's a glimpse of a rainbow from a dark story:
..the united voices of children under an African sky..
Thanks Madiba

Falls es einen Gott gibt, dann danke ich ihm für diesen Drakensberg Boys'choir und
