I don't understand why they don't talk at all! If they stopped singing because of professional differences, they would still be friends! But I think 🤔💭 it's something bigger than that!
@@stardustgirl2904 @stardustgirl2904 Yeah... after all this time... nothing. Something definitely happened that caused John Paul to just shut it down with the flip of a switch and never look back.
I wish people would stop commenting on Joy and John's looks and their on stage connection; enjoy their music they are amazingly gifted and genuinely wrapped in their music.
You know how there are those times that your heart feels as if it's bleeding, but you don't want it to stop because you've never felt such emotional euphoria? It's painful and joyous and invigorating and you realize you have suddenly come alive. Yeah, The Civil Wars will do that to you.
Yea, wow, what a seat that sound guy had. I love that you see the appreciation in their faces of each other. JP's humility at the very end. Truly Wonderful! They make the world a better place.
No they have constantly said that this is strictly professional and that they are in it simply for their love in music. Their musicians and they chose each other because they had the best respect for each other as musicians and friends.
It has been a long time since I was completely fascinated with a new band. All my kids are musicians and we run a karaoke business, I would love to be able to buy their work on karaoke.
This happens to be one of my favorite songs of all time... Elliott Smith was, in my opinion, one of the finest songwriters of our generation. Your rendition is beautifully haunting; eerily divine. Absolutely lovely. Yes, The Civil Wars is one of the very few bands that is effortlessly timeless.
This song's so beautiful and perfect it sounds brilliant in any of its versions, from this, to Lhasa de Sela to of course the original by Elliott. amaizing.
I love how both of their voices are strong and beautiful...sometimes Joy is the solo and John Paul does the harmony and now John Paul is the main solo and Joy is complementing him....beautiful collaboration....
i wish i could fast forward a few years so i didnt have to wait for their next songs to come out. every time i listen to a new one im like "ooo this is my new favorite song"...next song "ooo this is my new favorite song"...next song "ooo this is my new favorite song"...i just love all of their music it is so amazing. there are no words to describe it. it soul/heart music
I've heard Madeleine Peyroux's covers of "Dance Me to the End of Love" and "Between the Bars" and I loved them but The Civil Wars' are just as amazing!
I love this! You should do more of his songs! And put this out as a single, I really want it! I love the musical chemistry they have. It's necessary to make really good music and it is so hard to find. Keep it up!
I have easily watched and listened to this clip over 100 times, they never cease to amaze me. I love their version of this song, its at the top of my favorite songs that they do.
Just to be clear people this is a great cover, but a guy named Elliot Smith wrote and sang this song, if you didn't read the description. Elliot made this song a lot more deep then the way they do it, you should check him out if you like dark folk type music. Anyways The Civil Wars did a fantastic job on this song and really made it their own.
I first heard this amazingly awesome duo either from Pandora or iHeartRadio on an indie artist station...do I regret it? HELL NO. The pure simplicity behind these two is simply fantastic...there are not enough words to describe just how perfect these two are.
They were so magical together...
Miss you two❤
Everything they touch seems to be gold. And as soon they begin to sing it together, it becomes infinity.
Forever my favourite 🖤
Still miss them in 2019
2021 is missing them too :(
2023, is still holding on to hope!:)

I miss the civil wars :'(
me too, terribly :(
ZeLLuZZmehndi me 3
They will never get together again, and Joy has expressed she would like to, but John Paul won't!
I don't understand why they don't talk at all! If they stopped singing because of professional differences, they would still be friends! But I think 🤔💭 it's something bigger than that!

I don't know how he can sing with her looking at him like that. She's so beautiful.
Whatever it is they have between them, it's beautiful and will always leave me in awe.
The way John Paul gets a bit shy when they applaud at the end makes me melt. I miss them 💔
Between the bars is my favorite song by Elliott Smith, you guys did a great job, I think he would really appreciated it as well.

I didn't think it was possible to love you more - but alas, you've proved me wrong. If only it were '06 in Portland. Elliott woulda been proud.

A southern boy and a California gal. Who'd of thought they'd make angelic music? GORGEOUS!

Just breathtaking as always. Thank you for bringing me the music that I was desperately looking for!
OMGOSH! This describes it perfectly. They awaken something inside me that just wants to dance, laugh, cry, scream and sing at the same time.

Gorgeous.
carried me away along a summer breeze and may I never return ...
