I have just come across your channel by chance. Me and hubby are attending approval panel tomorrow and feeling very nervous. There is hardly any content on UA-cam on Adoption in the UK so lots of thanks to you x
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It's been nearly three years since I bought up adoption with my husband. I'm now hooked to watching your vlogs .
Thank you so much for this video. I can't thank you enough and have been following your blogs. We have approval panel in 3 weeks and as much as we keep getting told there's nothing to fear and everything's looking positive I've been finding myself getting incredibly anxious about the whole thing. Your videos taken some of the mystery out of it and helped me to see that they are not wanting us to fail. May I ask a question. Most close family and friends know we are going through the process. I appreciate we need to wait for ADM to come back with ratification after panel but did you announce happy news to your loved ones on the day or did you wait for the letter? I know they'll be itching to know but worried how safe it will be to tell. My understanding is ADMs very rarely reverse a positive decision but obviously I understand there are never any guarantees in this process! Xxx
Vicky Jones thank you for your lovely comment! I am with you on that one...wanted to shout from the rooftops the second we walked out! However, we resisted based on some advice from friends. “Only tell who you will be happy to tell again if it goes wrong” that helped to keep me at bay. Also...retail therapy helped, a lot 😍 all the luck in the world for your upcoming journey
Could I ask about the importance of the support network? I’m a single woman considering adopting, however I only have my sister and her husband and kids as my support network. The rest of my family are over two hours away and all my friends are some distance (at least an hour away). I’m concerned that this is going to count against me especially as I’m single. Any feedback / opinions would be appreciated.
Hi. I havent gone through the process but ive been doing some research and i think that the support network also involves friends or anybody who can be there for you emotionally or physically x
So me and my wife are going to panel on 27/11/19 and are counting the days down till then, not sure what questions will come up. Are case worker has been great and fill ready. How did you deal with waiting for your day at panel? Thank u so much for the vlog, as I use you as my reference for research I have done on UA-cam.
Hi Tony, wishing you all the best for panel!! We tried hard not to think about what they might ask and instead focussed on trusting our social worker and the confidence we had in her preparations. We knew we were ready and that any question panel had, we could answer together. It also really helped to remember that they too want to see you succeed...not fail.
Wishing you all the best for panel. It's different for every case but we had approval panel in September then matching in October as we also had our match provisionally in place.
Hi , we passed panel and have now been linked with a sibling group , Matching panel should be in August . Exciting times ahead , Thank you for your video's as they have helped us along our journey .
Change your mind in regards to no longer accepting a match do you mean? Realistically, any point until the adoption order is finalised if it's not right for you. Though hopefully someone wouldn't go to matching panel if they weren't sure.
I ment during the process before it went to the panel stage. As I’m sure there will be people during the process with the visits Medicals and all other checks it can be all a bit too much for them no?
I really wish you'd have slowed down in your speech. It was overwhelmingly fast & like listening to a wound up toy. Please be mindful of this for future videos. Your audience needs a relaxed speaker. Meditate before filming, that will relax you.
🤣 thanks for that. Any good meditation tracks you can recommend would be great.. I have 2 kids and seriously limited time so ill meditate then have less time to film the video, speak slower and just cut myself off after 5 mins...now that will be a high quality video 😍😂

I love the way you always refer to “little one” never “the child” or “the baby”. X

Hi. We are due to panel in July, once approved how long is it until matching panel? As we have already identified siblings

At what stage can you change your mind? I imagine that can sometimes happen
