But in the second part of the war his arm go badly wounded by Tomura and caused him to over exert his quirk, which caused his heart to explode (I think) and he ended up dying. But then Edgeshot used his ultimate 'move' to become Katsuki's new heart allowing him to come back to life and continue fighting, ultimately winning against AFO.
