Considering that both the Saturn and the Playstation released in '94 in Japan, it's remarkable that there were any NES games at ALL.

Japan isn't the entire world though. The west didn't get PlayStation until late 1996 I believe. So no it's not remarkable. There are like three times as many people in Canada and the USA combined than Japan. Let alone Europe. You make no sense.

@@aelechkothe playstation came out in late 95 in na, you might be getting it confused with the n64, which came out late 96. but it really is weird, after all, it was late in the 16 bit generation, to see games come out for an 8 bit is really odd, the genesis and snes had already sold very well by that time.

    • @aelechko

It's pretty cool to see how far they managed to push the NES. Some of the best looking games were put out late in the console's lifespan.

I’m sure you’re a smart guy but why say something so obvious? Of course games almost ubiquitously get better as the system gets older. What’s the point of your comment other than for you to somehow feel good aboot yourself?

    • @Kingof-hu9kk
      @Kingof-hu9kk Рік тому +4

While it is obvious a console's games would generally get better in time. The comment is underlining the fact nintendo pushed the console for a decade, and still made decent games for kids who maybe werent able to upgrade to the SNES. Also, doing worse ports of current SNES games may actually mean the quality of games worsens in time.

My brother ordered Zodas Revenge from a store that no longer exists, Consumers Distributing. The game didn't have an official release date to look forward too like we do today, it was just labeled as coming in Spring or Summer. I remember my friend only had 6 games total for the entire Nes Generation. Super Mario 1 & Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros 3, TMNT 1, Blades of Steel & World Cup Soccer. That's it that's all he had for that Nes Generation.
Then even worse my other friend when I was a kid he only had 3 Sega Genesis games. NHL Hockey, Sonic 1 & Golden Axe. 3 games for that entire generation.

Mega Man 6 was great, I'd say probably 3rd best MM game for the NES. I especially liked the exploration aspect of it, there's two paths (or more? but I think at least 2) you can take in each levels, and each path makes you use the transformation powers, it's a well-crafted game with good levels design imo.

I was fortunate enough in the mid to late 90s to walk into Funcoland and purchase TMNT Tournament Fighters, Chip n Dale 2 , Bonk's Adventure, and other rare NES games for under $20 at the time. I ended up selling them along my copy of Castlevania Dracula X and Aero Fighters for Super NES and some other very valuable NES games in 2015 to buy my son some clothes for school because money was tight at the time. Sadly my son passed away on Nov. 12, 2020 due to health problems including organ failure at 22 years old and missed the birth of his daughter my only grandchild on January 7,2021.

Startropics 2 was the true last NES USA exclusive game unlike Wario Woods which was on both the NES and SNES even though the nes version came first and it's a shame that both games were overlooked because of the SNES. Startropics 2 I really enjoy it but I always prefer the original, as for Wario Woods let me tell you this, it is super addictive I spend many hours playing that game. Fun fact Wario Woods was the last and First NES game that has a ESRB Rating in history.

MM6 is an amazing game. Having spent considerable time playing all of the classic MM games to death and speedrunning them to the best of my abilities, MM6 is definitely worth it. Imo, if you had to play three MM games, 2, 4 and 6 are definitely the most stand out titles with the most addictive gameplay. Sooo good! I wanna play them right now!
I know a lot of people favor MM3, which is fine, as it's better than 5 and 1, but I honestly think these people just stopped their run of MM games back in the days after 2 and 3 and that's also where the nostalgia peaked. I only owned MM4 as a kid, and that's probably my favorite for that reason, but of all the other ones, 2 and 6 are where it's at.
Saying MM6 is in the middle of the pack is fair, as I'd probably rank it after 4 and 2, but we're talking some of the very best sidescrollers of all time here, so ranking them only along their respective franchise brethren won't quite do them justice. 😅

“Why would I play the nes game and not the snes/genesis game?”
Maybe because not everybody was able to get into the next generation at the time?

Missed opportunity to bring out the 7 Grand Dad meme.
Also, no mention of Wario Woods being the only NES game to have a rating by the ESRB?

    Weird...
I remember playing Star Tropics 2 and Bonk back then. I learned about Mega Man but okayed that later (I did see it on a Nintendo magazine).
Anyone remember having seen a magazine cover with Mario, Sonic and Bonk duking it out on the ring?
Bonk had at some point the same level of promise...
... haha that isnt Yoshi... man back then Toad was better known. Not only jad he been in the 3 Marios but also he was part of the Mario Bros show (and the movie - THAT MOVIE)
    Anyway cool stuff !!!

1994 I was still playing NES, didn't get a SNES until Xmas 1995! Mega Man 6 and StarTropics II are the only ones from the video that I owned. I still have Zoda's Revenge, complete in box.
