- An outline of the history of the fur trade, and of the commercial use of furs in Canada. The skins of wild animals, coveted wear for the kings and courts of the Old World, drew adventurers deep into the New. The lonely trade of the trapper changed little, but the fur trade became part of the country's modern industrial economy, with fur farming and conservation assuming increasing importance.

With heating prices going through the roof maybe fur coats will make a comeback in Canada lol
I love the NFB!
Did you know that York Factory was still in operation at this time!, it’ll close in 1957 after 275 year in operation, kinda sad😞.🇨🇦
So sad to see that the Hudson's Bay Company has closed their doors for good. Good-bye to another Canadian icon.
Lol, it's not for good they're downsizing. Their stores are way too big and old people are the only ones that shop there so it doesn't matter.
Now we're culling mink due to COVID.
Very cool and informative!
Can you upload NFBC's "Kluane" and "Death of a Legend" ?

Was this made in 1670 too? Bruh
No. In 1946.
How did radio communication help Fur Trade?
@Jazmin Burgos Velasquez shut up it was a queston
It helped regulate pricing and ensure fur trappers got the best price for the pelts.
Those look fluffy but I'm sad
good
In this time..., wut
would the kids do?????
Good information but the use of indians" could be offensive towards many people. It may be time to update this video.
true
🤣🤣🤣
Don't be ridiculous. It's a product of its time, get over it.
Nope, just fine.
American indian is actually the correct term, as naitive american can also refer to south america
how is this channel verified when tere are only 129 likes 3 years later
maybe with 40k views
bruh my teacher is making watch this ✅✅🥶
I like beaver. makes me happy seeing them swim around building dams. If you're taking them to manage overpopulation, that's ok, but the hunting and trapping lifestyle involved too much suffering and killing. The world is better when we do better things than that, like inventing amazing technology, music, painting, sculpture, or philosophy, etc, etc. Walking around trying to kill animals is for cavemen.
Its yo boy Sammmm heheheheh
👍🏻🇨🇦👍🏻
The white zero sum game designed to bankrupt it's partners.
Is that your opinion or is it the opinion of any First Nation? I don’t think they need your self righteous advocacy.

Because I love this channel but not every documentary that appears on it is a good one, like this boring old shite that I can’t even remember
kinda sad they took a tradition and turned it into a factory. If i ever buy fur ill make sure its not factory fur, thats just sad those animals dont get to live a normal life before their killed.
Animals are here for us.
If you ever need any furs just ask your local deer hunter, most of us don't use the hide and just toss it to the coyotes or turtles
They literally aren’t lmao
