Houseboats are overrated. The real beauty of Allepy can be seen through shikara ride only. I've been to the same restaurant and had the same fish fry. It's really delicious. There used to be an eagle which was domesticated by the owner and it was so friendly that it sat on my father's arm for photo. Yes the people there do travel by boats or public ferry only and when you're on the shikara and a ferry comes there's a total water jerk and you feel like swimming and sometimes it's scary that your shikara might lose control. But that never happens. Amazing place.

The fish that you had at The Taste of India is Karimeen (Pearl Spot) Fish - a delicious fish mostly found only in the backwaters of Alapuzha (Alleppey)
It's not because of Allappey, but because of very heavy rain continuously for several days affect flooding. This happening for past 3 years , this much severe as of global climate change
If the same rain happen in other parts, then will flood for months.Kerala terrain allows the water flow from east mountains, towards rivers lakes and sea.
Flooding is a usual thing for alleppey (especially kuttanad) people during monsoons. As Tanya rightly said, the reason behind the flooding is, kuttanad area is below sea level. The famous flooding that happened couple of years back has no direct connection with kuttanad floods. It was due to continuous rain that stayed intact for more than a few weeks like we never seen before in kerala. That time it was the lower areas of high ranges in kerala that got affected heavily due to immediate flood followed by the dam openings.
You just make me your fan. That's what I wanted to say to you. Even I shared your videos with my friends. They also fall in love with your videos.😀😀😀 God bless you, man.

I love Kerala ❤️
wow what a delicious meal served on a banana leaf and its easy to see why kerala has such terrible flooding the water is everywhere
Yes! This place is actually below sea level! 🥲
