The story of #PyariMona revolves around the main lead Mona, an overachiever, strong and courageous girl who excels in everything she does but, being a plus-sized person, Mona has to face challenges, problems, provocations and taunts just because she doesn’t meet the conventional standards of beauty set by our society. The serial highlights body shamming, bullying, harassment and its social and mental implications on the victim in a society with unrealistic expectations from women and stringent standards of beauty. Pyari Mona is an unconventional and interesting story of Mona as she navigates through her life. Written by Haseeb Ahmed, directed by Ali Hassan and produced under the banner of Momina Duraid Productions, the serial also features Mashal Khan, Adnan Jafer, Muhammad Hunbal, Naureen Mumtaz, Uzma Baig, Shaheen Khan and others.

Sanam Jung, what a brilliant performer you are! Especially your scenes with the mother - so much hurt expressed so beautifully. My hat is tipped at you. The rejection at the hands of the one that gave you life is easy to internalize, but very difficult to express. That yoga scene is just brilliant.

There’s a big uturn in the story. The story that started so well is now disappointing a girl that stood for herself at all times that didn’t care about judgement of boys , a girl that use to call her brother in law a murderer of her sister is now longing for his love and care of the same guy. There was no need to get remarrried to her brother in law she could have taken care of her niece or her parents could have move in to their daughter’s house to take care of her and child. Going back to the guy that insults her shows weakness in girls character which is totally opposite to her character portrayed earlier. I can digest she forgives him in the end for the sake of her sister but living happily together at the end would be a worst ever ending for this play.

Mona should consider losing weight as its important to stay physically healthy but not for that toxic, insecure Babar.
He already mistreated her sister and she died of depression due to him & her-mom’s expectations. Seems like it’s her turn now. Not sure why the heck she married to him?
