So happy for Madison! Such an amazing player and shotmaker. I agree with others she played very smart, controlled aggression, yet pulled the trigger when feeling it and kept her opponents playing defense all week. Kuzi, looks so fit and focused and showed everyone she's still great. Keep rising ladies. Very exciting tennis. WTA's quality has vastly risen and is great to watch.
Although Keys undoubtedly won this match hands-down, it's still nice to see Kuznetsova playing so well again. I watched her play growing up and have always considered her an all-time great, so I was devastated when she became injured and seemed to disappear. There's something very special and heartwarming about watching someone who was such a big part of your childhood slowly return to the form that you remember just as you hit your 20s! Here's to many more successful years, Света

Madison Keys was in a major final (US Open) final already. She can do it; but she won't. She is okay, until she said "I'm Madison", when asked her race. She received flack for that.

Seems like the courts are slower today. Madison’s shots aren’t as penetrating through the court compared to the other previous matches. Unless she’s hitting with more spin? But so happy for her!
She played a controlled match... Svetlana defense is still world class and keys knows it. So making many errors against a player like her was not a great idea, keys seems to be much more mature now

Thank God keys have finally learn how to play control game against the top ladies. For to win a grand slam she has to be willing to defend for her life against those counterpunchers
Keys is near impossible to beat when shes on but that has not been too often this season. She has the game to beat anyone, lacking consistency is the problem. Kuznetsova is on the way back, she played great this week. #nevergiveup
I think Maddy also battles a lot of injuries.
Most players have the game to beat anyone if they wanted to risk hitting a crapload of unforced errors. Keys and Ostapenko hit harder than even the men (who hit with way more topspin) but of course make way more unforced errors. These high-risk, high-return gamestyles like Keys, Ostapenko, or even Bouchard (who takes the ball so early) will result in extreme inconsistency.
I'd say Keys is super lucky she didn't play Barty. Barty would have sliced and pushed Key's to death, with Maddie hitting probably 40+ unforced errors in the match. Let's not forget Key's awesome form at the US Open in 2017 but then all Sloane had to do with push the ball back in court and Maddie killed herself.
Keys is a great player if she doesn't think too much. If you put her under big pressure in big matches she normally loses. The US Open is her best slam, she plays better at home. Was a semi finalist last year. Be good to see her play more consistent the rest of the year, hit flat but with more spin.

Battle of the nice woman...I wanted keys to win , but followed kuznetsova, since she her epic battles with Serena and the other “older” players, she’s a great player and nice to see her make a run. Congrats to Keys, best of luck and health in nyc.
Keys wanted this dug deep just by how her grunting changed and got deeper on the important points.
Amazing for Keys fought back from 2 sets down then won the match congrats Keys played really well this time 👏👏

A joy to watch. Both played amazing.
Kuznetsova's shot had plenty of spin but no penetration per what I got to see of them in this view. I really think she should be a little more aggressive and drive the ball more so that it doesn't land so much inside the baseline. Also, her serve leaves a lot to be desired. I looked at the stats and Keys demolished her with aces. True, aces don't win matches. But, it is telling as some players grind out points after an okay serve.
Of course I was rooting for her to win because she's American but she obviously has a bright future. She's both quick and powerful.

Heartwarming. And the running forehands were breathtaking! Hearty congratulations to a most deserving champion - it's so good to see her make good on so much promise. Her fitness is tremendous and clearly makes her confident that she can a) run down any ball and b) rifle off a winner from that full run. Yay Maddie!

I feel sad for Sveta though. But congratulations to Keys for winning her biggest career title yet. A very underrated player this Keys has been solid at the grand slams. Maybe it isn't her time yet to win a slam. But I am sure she will walk away with one of them very soon.
