  • This is Loupedeck. A photo editing console for Adobe Lightroom built specifically to speed up photo editing.
    🛒 Check today's prices here: geni.us/loupedeckconsole
    I won't make any promises like "it will DOUBLE your editing speed", but this is definitely faster than using a mouse to work your way down the adjustment sliders and both my wife and I noticed a decrease in how long it takes us to edit photos as well as a new found love for editing black & white photographs.
    My favorite parts of Loupedeck are...
    * The tactile feel of the controls and that they all push in to reset a slider to zero.
    * It had me using Hue, Saturation, & Luminance (HSL) more than I ever had before. Which is extremely powerful when editing a Black & White photo.
    * The Lightroom plugin is really easy to use and lets you make changes to your custom buttons quickly.
    * Instead of wasting time scrolling up and down the right panel looking for the correct slider, I now make an adjustment fast and move to the next image.

    This is a super intriguing product, especially for people that are editing a large number of photos, often. When I was shooting weddings, this would have been a life saver! Of course there's ways that you can do all of these actions with a mouse and keyboard, like some users down below mention, but one, where's the fun in that, and two, the less actions I can take to get a task done, the better. $300 is nothing if you are consistently working in Lightroom and this reduces editing time by even 10%.

    Wow, so many people need to jump in to share their little slice of negativity.
    If the devices feels too expensive to you, then it is. You don't need it. Your perception of value tells you that this device will not provide enough benefit compared to the cost. We get it. Don't try to tell us that YOUR perception is universal truth. It's your perception which is based on how you feel about the time you spend doing your tasks. For many of us, the cost itself isn't a barrier so much as the risk of having another piece of gear that didn't live up to its hype. On the other hand, if it makes our job easier, faster, or more enjoyable (in any combination), it's probably worth the cost.

    When I first saw the campaign (I think two years ago), I was thinking about buying this product too. Then I switched to CaptureOne which has way better shortcuts than LR. It reminds me the days I worked with Bibble Pro. So I think I don't need this anymore.

    This looks really neat and I'm super interested in trying it out. Minor request: If you're going to upload weird aspect ratios, please actually edit/render to them :/ there's no need for baked in black bars. Us wider DCI 4k and 21:9 monitor users are punished as a result.

    • @Levi_Allen
      @Levi_Allen 6 років тому +2

      I'm pretty sure youtube won't let you use end cards on non 16x9 uploads yet. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is still the case. (there is a chrome extension to help you view videos in whatever aspect you want on your display) whatever aspect this is, it won't fill a 21:9 display either way.

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox 6 років тому

      Yup end cards still work with 4096x2160 (my resolution thus black bars ruining playback) and 4:3, but not 21:9 yet.
      And the new adaptive player adjusts perfectly to any aspect ratio now.

    • @Levi_Allen
      @Levi_Allen 6 років тому

      +LensProToGo - yes let's connect! Sometime before NAB haha.
      +EposVox Right. I haven't tested since the newer adaptive player. I also know there is a Chrome plugin that lets you play a full screen video at whatever aspect you want. I don't know the name though.

    • @overnightclassic2
      @overnightclassic2 6 років тому

      Fuck off dude with that shit. End cards do not work with 21:9 and rendering DCI 4K is stupid. The small minority of people that use ultrawide monitors is not worth the End Cards or any other headaches and that's why it's not worth doing. Trust me your video was not correct and no need to keep defending this.

  • @michaelmoore9120

    There's a new version out, "Loupedeck+", which is even better with more functions and more customizable buttons. Ignore the idiots with their negativity (John Wheatley in particular seems rather clueless of the benefits of tactile control decks). As a professional photographer this paid for itself within a week ("extremely expensive" Mr Wheately? Gimme a break. The consoles I use for sound and video production makes the cost of the Loupedeck seem like pocket change!). Good video review. Well done. Maybe get Loupedeck to send you the latest version to review (and be sure the audio sync on your video works this time! ;) )

  • @bonedface

    But music DAW has done this for decades now.
    The layout of the midi controller is quite universal for anyone. And first of all, they have something called mapping which allow various equipment to work on their software, also midi controllers come in cheap prices.
    This is specifically design for only Lightroom, same with the Palette Gear which can only use in several Adobe software but it's priced at 200-300$?
    Common man, what your paying for is licensing not only for the product itself and this is not cool. They could have just allow midi mapping to some of the slider and tell user to go buy a midi controller which is cheap and have more buttons and knobs. User could use it how ever they like.
    Well, these product could be exist, but it shouldn't be the only options, it shouldn't just for that software only and it shouldn't be expensive like this.

    300$ is a *lot* for just one program that doesn't give you as much editing control compared to photoshop. If this did multiple programs like you said it wish it would do then it would be worth it. Until then its probably better to hold off till then if they do decide to include that

      I basically don't touch the mouse now when editing as I can do all the Hue, Saturation, and Luminance adjustments using the sliders at the top. Same with the crop wheel.
      Just like in high-level professional games like Starcraft, the less I have to touch the mouse the better. Do you need to spend $300 on a device to help you with that? That's up to you and whether you do this for a living and saving hours a week is worth the investment or not.

    I'm just not seeing the benefit of something like the Loupedeck. It's strikes me as a step backwards. Like, if we lived in a world that didn't have Wacom tablets or a mouse, and only had this Loupedeck, and then someone invented the mouse or Wacom tablet, we'd be like, "Holy shit! This is A LOT better and easier than this gimmicky, Loupedeck contraption." This is a complicated solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. How is it easier or better to take you hand off a mouse (you still have to use your mouse because the Loupedeck can't even do all the common things in Lightroom), find a button or knob and press or turn it when you could have just left your hand on the mouse AND your eyes on the screen and made the exact same adjustment with a twitch of your hand? It's annoying to constantly have to take your eyes off of the screen. That's the beauty of a tablet or mouse. Your eyes stay on the screen. Adding a third piece of complicated gear to the mix only serves to disrupt workflow and further clutter up your workspace. It's like having two keyboards in the way. Sure, you could probably learn and adapt to it, but why go through the trouble and price when the gear you already have does the job easier and better? Why waste time and money to learn a harder, more complicated way to do something? And even IF it piqued my interest, it's $300! There's no way I'm gambling that much money on something that 1) I don't need, and 2) I may or may not like. Also, there is something else. Image editing is very personal and artistic and people like to feel like they're working ON their image. When I'm using a tablet or my mouse, I'm mimicking drawing or painting with my hand movements, which lends itself well to this type of work. Turning knobs and pushing sliders takes that away and disconnects the artist from his/her work.

    Great product, 200 bucks is nothing for a professional editor. This will save loads of time.

    Just learn the keyboard shortcuts, they work in all adobe programs, and you can customize them to your liking. There's no need to even look at the keyboard anymore. Spending 300 bucks? I rather continue paying that stupid adobe subscription. It's not worth 300 bucks
