    I really love the colours of these beads - you make very beautiful stuff
    AI "artists" should be treated like musicians who sample other artists, and be asked to pay royalties

      Thank you so much! I think that's a really good idea! And very fair since the AI trend doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon

    This was so so needed. It's such an unfortunate "trend" that's happening now and really slows me down when I need a kit and I'm unsure if it's AI or not. Number one I do NOT want any art that is stolen and derived from someone else's work. And two, if laws do crack down in AI I definitely don't want to get in trouble for some kind of copyright © infringement. Thank you for helping me determine when AI is used in a kit bc it fools me every time. 😫😫 And thank you for bringing this to light in a poignant fashion. 💯

      You're welcome dude! I know how frustrating it can be trying to find a safe digital. It's a mess out there right now.

    I really would like more conversation on the AI, I think this is a HUGE, HUGE problem!!I also believe there are plenty of people out there that have NO CLUE these people are actually stealing from ssssoooo many real artists!!! I really REALLY can't stand the fact that others are stealing from honest, hard working artists' work. I will no longer buy from Etsy (or elsewhere) UNLESS they can assure me the items are NOT AI!!

      As an artist I can't tell you how much I appreciate that ☺️💞. I agree, it's a huge problem that not enough voices are talking about.

      @releasethecraftin yes!!! Maybe I missed the boat on this one but it seems to me that this was all thrown together and released BEFORE the copyright gods could even weigh-in and get a handle on this and understand just exactly HOW the images were being "scraped"/STOLEN from actual artists that originally created them. Now, there's so much that's been stolen and CONTINUES TO BE STOLEN, let's be very clear and honest here, that I'm not very darn willing to show much of my artistic endeavors for this VERY reason!! I think it's really REALLY crappy that others are profiting from simply entering a few words into a program and never, EVER actually created a darn thing with their own hands!!! I'm extremely frustrated AGAIN that, as usual, the powers-that-be that have governing authority over such things reacted entirely too slowly or not at all and now I'm afraid it's too late to put that spilled milk back into the jar! Maybe they didn't think AI would take off? Maybe they just didn't care? Didn't realize how wide and deep this problem really was going to be? For whatever their reasoning I'm ssssooo appalled they did NOTHING to get in front of this! I've been duped by an unscrupulous person doing this and even AFTER she was caught red-handed lying about it sent a "disclaimer" of sorts saying how the items could/couldn't be used, but it was AFTER the purchase payment had been completed!!!

      Yeah I feel the same, it's hard to want to share your art when it can be scraped and someone else can easily profit off of it. There's a few programs out now, like glaze and nightshade, that you can use to make your artwork unusable to AI which is nice. But it's sad that they had to invent that technology in the first place.
      Unfortunately capitalism isn't interested in preserving the Arts, so there aren't a lot of protections in play. As it stands copyright law has made it so that all AI generated art is copyright free. Which was essentially done to keep the companies that host the AI from claiming all the work as IP, but it's a double edged sword. Because it means that anyone can those images and use them freely however they want. It gets even trickier because people are subtly editing those images so that they can claim it's their actual IP (adding a filter or cropping it etc..) and that's "transformative" enough they are getting away with it. (Like the tarot decks I've mentioned)
      I haven't talked to anyone who hasn't been duped by AI art and been mad about it. And that's really sad. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

    This was interesting, thanks for your insight into the AI invasion.

    It is disappointing, and there really needs to be some kind of regulation that AI companies need to adhere to that says that they need permission from the original artist before using their art, and then the other end of the scale where the output needs to be regulated too.
    It’s very clever and yes, the world does move on, but theft is theft, and deceit is deceit. No matter how technology moves on.

    • @releasethecraftin
      @releasethecraftin  4 місяці тому +1

      I agree! AI companies need to pay artists their licensing fees the same as anyone else does when they use an artist's art.
      Technology moves at a faster pace than our ethics do, but that isn't a reason to let it run rampant regardless of who gets hurt along the way.

    IDK hardly ANYTHING about using AI... Meaning HOW people actually use it to generate (Steal) Art. I understand what Artificial Intelligence is & many of it's purposes, but I don't have a clue how to use it or how to be able to spot it.... Know if a Digital Kit I see on Etsy is Truly created by the Artist selling it... Or if it was generated by AI.I'd love for you to talk to us more about it.

      Thank you! It really saddens me that Etsy doesn't enforce a rule to label things as AI generated for that reason in particular. It has to be so frustrating as a buyer to not know if you're inadvertently supporting a practice you find unethical. I'll try to think of some more points to talk about.

I'd really appreciate it because I don't even know what to look for! ...& I'm basically Starting Completely Over (Re-Building My Crafty Stash) since I left everything behind. HI - so if a youtuber is selling a kit of - let's say - Hawaiian vacation and it's a whole kit of ladies and water and flowers and such and you know that the youtuber is not able to create drawings like these having watcher him/her for a long time - can it be assumed that this is AI ? There is a lot of these poetic "thematic" kits that people are selling on Etsy... All those little fluffy elves and dear etc??? Mostly AI. - I am a working artist so usually I don't turn to such things but I did meet AI in modern poetry and yes, it's a discussion. OK. Later. Jackie

    • @releasethecraftin
      @releasethecraftin  4 місяці тому

      I wouldn't go so far as to assume that if someone can't draw their kit is automatically AI, because like I mentioned they can purchase the resources (graphics) from another artist to make that kit. I would say that if you're certain that person doesn't have the ability and they start claiming that they do, and start generating kits at an rapid pace that it would be safe to assume that. It's more looking at things like the volume, the pricing, the similarity in style to others, odd patterns or lines that wouldn't be naturally drawn and less commonly claiming that a variety of styles are all their original artwork. Artists tend to have one style and may dabble in a few different styles but you can usually see the similarities to their main style. At the end of the day, until the regulations on labeling changes, you just kind of have to be wary and if you're doubting what you see you can always message the shop owner and then judge based on their response. Thanks for watching
