These people were just trying to raise their family and the unthinkable happened.
Then you have people like Chris Watts who intentionally destroy the gifts they have been given.

Scott Eby was later charged on five counts of first-degree murder and one count of predatory sexual assault after DNA evidence linked him to Riley. At the time he was charged, Eby was serving two consecutive seven-year sentences.

I mean obviously the break in next door is in connection to this abduction and killing of these people's daughter. That's just too much irony.

Doesn’t surprise me that it was in Illinois. This state has that reputation. Hence why we stopped executions. And to think the neighbors house at the same time was broken into. 🤷‍♀️
You would think that would make you say 🤔 maybe this is connected maybe it ain’t the dad who is adamant it’s not him.

Do these stories ever begin with “It was a large town with a high crime rate. Honestly, the kind of place you’d expect this kind of thing”

I have never understood why ppl have ever admitted to doing something they didn't do just because of pressure of an interogation Idc how long it had been or how grueling the investigators were being with me I could never ever say I did something as bad as killing my own daughter if I hadn't . No way now how. No matter what. So I just don't get that part. Of it and I will never understand it. Even if your a child I don't get it. I would never have said I did something if I hadn't. ... Also why did he wait to call his wife she actually called him and that's how she found out their daughter was missing. This whole thing is so sad.

The police have psychological tricks, manipulations, a person is exhausted, and a parent is often self-blaming as well. Since the interrogation was not entirely recorded, we cannot know entirely how they manipulated him. Many are very skilled at getting confessions, can even convince someone it's "true", and certainly the only way "out".
I too believe I would hold out, if only to prevent (or at least not help) the guilty party's getting away with it - and doing it again.

Although he should’ve have never served time in prison but knowing the system I’m glad he only served 8 months instead of spending 20 years in prison then getting juice since usually that’s how these stories usually go. somebody usually spends decades then they find innocence. Kevin got lucky.

It has to be somebody in the town. A young male with no vehicle to have taken her to the meadow and creek. Someone familiar with area. And not aware of DNA. If it was an outter Towner, he would have taken her out of the town. Have they found the person responsible ? That was 17 yrs ago. They should have collected everyone's , males , dna to rule out suspects. It seems like everyone would have been happy to give dna to find killer.
