    LYRICS:
There was a girl named Annie who was very sweet and dandy but she didn’t like to eat.
No meat, no veggies, no cheese, no berries, on this she dug in her feet.
She didn't like textures - many of them vexed her! She would say, ‘That’s far too chewy.

‘If it looks funny, like yellow runny honey, I don’t want it, it’s just too gooey.

Annie wouldn’t even taste it - she would just waste it when something smelled different
    or funny.
Annie was so picky and made it quite tricky, even when the meal was quite yummy.
She was so choosy and feeling quite woozy, because at lunch she only ate crackers.
By eating macaroni and slices of bologna, she was destined for a disaster.
    Mom said…
‘You like carrots, so why not peas?’
‘You like spaghetti, so why not cheese?’
‘You like bananas, why not pears?
    '
'You like very little, that’s why I care!

'You like cereal, so why not oatmeal?’
‘Take one bite, PLEASE! It’s not a big deal!’
Annie was gruff and said in a huff, ‘I would like to go to bed.’
She pushed back her plate, not feeling great, with nothing more to be said.
So Annie led - herself to bed and marched right up the stairs.
As she arrived, she felt quite surprised at how tired she was getting there.
‘Annie,’ said Mom, who was standing along the banister by her room.
‘If you’d eat your peas, you wouldn’t have these moments of tiredness and gloom.’
Annie fell deep into a slumberous sleep and in it she started to dream.
Of meat and veggies and fruit and berries covered in delicious cream.
Of honey that’s yummy and oh-so-runny drizzled on top of toast.
She didn’t mind textures on cold confectures and dwelled on a dazzling roast.
When morning arrived it came as a surprise that Annie scurried downstairs.
She raided the fridge and opened the lid on a jar of juicy green pears.
Her parents came down and looked all around, what they saw was such a surprise.
What Annie was doing was ravenously chewing and it was a sight for sore eyes.
In between bites, Annie said with delight, ‘I’ve changed my mind about food.’
With each new bite, she just felt right and was in a far better mood.
‘Textures and tastes are adventures so great - and trying new foods is cool!’
‘My dream was right - food is a delight and the most important fuel.’
From that day on, from dusk till dawn, Annie had become a leader.
She was quick to recite, ‘One bite to be polite,’ even if you’re a picky eater.
