The second half of the song is in Te Reo Maori. Maori are the native people of New Zealand (Aotearoa) Such a beautiful tribute by Six60. Miss my home ❤ Miss my people ❤
My wife is Australian and went to the Sydney concert just before lock down. She said it was the best concert she’d ever been to. She rambled on about for a whole month.
I was at this concert bro, it was the last one before covid hit and we got locked up. The language is Te Reo, its the traditional language of our Maori people who were the first to settle in New Zealand. The dance is called "Haka" it was used by out ancestors before for hand to hand war as a challenge to fight for other tribes. Extra bit of info, it is also used by our Rugby team the All Blacks before games to lay the challenge to the other team. Was the most epic concert Ive been to in my 34 years, this song in particular was an amazing moment. There were sixty thousand people there that night and when they performed the Haka I looked through the crowd and more than half of us were right there performing it with them. Big love for the NZ reactions brother! Have a listen to Six60 - Ghosts and also Six60 - lost ( NZ orchestra version)
Yes I agree man, that version of Lost is so so so good. I went to a Six60 concert on Saturday with 32,000 people! It was amazing! The vibe was so positive 🤘🔥
Kia ora Whanau hello family, the culture is Maori aka Tangata whenua (people of the land) our language is Te reo . There is a sad history behind Te Reo as it was banned in schools - schooling here in NZ or Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud)was made and is compulsory etc. When Te Reo is represented in this magnitude it shows how far we have come, despite the challenges. ♥️🥰
The dance is a haka. It is a dance used as a war cry and for intimidating...it is also used as a tribute and to pay respect to elders and/or people of high respect that have passed on along with many other occassions. His name is Matiu Walters, he is the lead singer of the New Zealand band, Six60, the language in the second half of the song is New Zealands Native Language. It is Te Reo Maori and to have included that in this song is a BEAUTIFUL tribute to his and New Zealands cultural heritage.
