- The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has cautioned the public to do due diligence before purchasing home used vehicles in order not to buy an uncustomed vehicle.
This is because, according to the GRA, there has been an increase in the sale of uncustomed vehicles smuggled into Ghana from neighbouring countries, especially Togo.
Between May and December this year alone, the Customs Division has seized a total of 300 uncustomed vehicles in Accra alone as part of an exercise to flush out vehicles without proper documentation and duty in the country.
The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Preventive at Customs, Mr Seth Dwira who made this known in an interview with the Daily Graphic said, “it is becoming alarming the spate at which people are smuggling vehicles into the country.”
They should sell cars or find owners very wasteful to just let them sit when someone could benefit
It's good to impound the said vehicles but who released them from the port when they had not paid their duties ?
Michael Appeah they said they were coming from Togo and neighboring countries. Not ghanaian ports
These cars were not brought in through Tema port.
Bad management
