Because of their disadvantage of the height, they eventually created or develpoed a new way or new style (Thai style) to compete with other height teams and they did it very well for a long time as we can see in matches and tournaments.
For me Nusara is the brain and all others are like limbs to her precise controls while they're still also individuals. When she sets the ball for someone, their combinations are 75%+ success.
Having a highly calculated setter, like Nootsara and fast attacking combo are simply a natural compensation for Thailand team for not having the height advantage. The setter needs to keep the blockers guessing, otherwise the opposite team will just win easily by repeatedly setting up three 190+ cm blockers to thwart any spiking attempts.
