    Respects and greetings to the bandsmen (I'm not forgetting the women musicians) of all British regiments. Great musicians. I played in my Army Cadets high school band at Riverdale Collegiate in Toronto many years ago. Enjoyed it so much. Regards, Bob in Ontario, Canada

    That shoulder sync at the beginning was amazing.

    Back in "the day" the police man detailed to escort the band would have his cape neatly folded over his right shoulder, boots polished, trousers pressed, and carrying his leather gloves in his left hand showing his medal ribbons over his left breast pocket and marched in step with the band. Times have changed!!

      Agreed,really scruffy,I think that the last time his boots saw polish was in the factory-don’t go a lot on the 4’6” bandspersons either.

    The first march is The 3DG's. The Regimental March of 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales Dragoon Guards). This Regiment amalgamated with Royal Scots Greys in 1971 to become the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. The march is now the Regimental march of this Regiment. I served as a Bandsman in this Band from 1962 - 1974. The march was written for the Carabiniers by an old Bandmaster of theirs by the surname of J. Brophy, and is one of the very few marches ever written specifically for a Regiment rather than being borrowed, or a local tune being used. Hope this helps.

    I notice that the guards on duty at the entrance salute when after band passes. Why not salute the band as well?

    • @Excelsor92
      @Excelsor92 8 років тому +5

      They salute to the officer who is in place of the colour if it is absent. Thats also why he has the two guardsmen at both sides too.
