    You should try a circle hook on those set bait lines. They are awesome for hooking up when you are not on the rod, especially when you are dropping chunks of cut bait. As soon as the fish tries to move away the hook turns and you got them, it sets itself. The hook gets them in the corner of the mouth every time so you don't have to worry about deep or swallowed hooks. The Burbot and Lakers wouldn't stand a chance. Awesome setup you got there, looks like a lot of fun. Don't know if I'd be saying that if it was blowing 40 mph from the north though. Cheers.

    Hi, I was amazed all the things you had to check to ensure your safety. I just thought you made a hole and set up the tent🙈 pardon my ignorance on this subject but I’m from the 🇬🇧 and don’t do this here! We’re lucky if we get and inch or two on a lake🤣 love your videos, they are so interesting! Thank you, it can’t be easy while having a camera in your hand.

      It’s been a learning process on what to bring and do to safely overnight on the ice. It’s been a fun journey though.

      I’m getting out fished by Hunter regularly now… he’s dedicated. We only kept two burbot over those two days and let the rest go. We still have a bit of salmon and halibut in the freezer still at home.

    Great burbot and mackinaw. I use my second pole outside the tent with a jawjacker and a bluetooth alarm on a stand.

      😂 I hear there is great fishing in Florida! I’d love to come visit some time, there is great spearfishing there too.
      It’s just a really long flight to cross the USA, so we usually go to Hawaii.

    you guys should charter small charter fishing parties (ice fishing and your boat) i know i'd be happy to pay and i'm from the UK

      🤔 I’m not sure if that would be fun or feel like work. I feel like I’m a charter captain most times when I’m out, with all the help getting the family involved.

    What a great fishing trip!!! The mountains and landscape on the drive was beautiful. I never seen a Moose have a struggle getting through snow, I am just a City Girl, I never imagined that. But in 8 inches of snow it is difficult as a Human to walk. Did you say 24 inches? Do a lot of Moose die getting stuck? Just wondering. You guys caught alot. I really enjoy watching you catch, skin, cook and eat the fresh fish. It must taste amazing. No wonder you all are so healthy, and have iron men energy. I love that power source. How long does it keep a charge? Did you put a link in the description? We love seeing Mark and Hunter have some Man time. And it was funny the other fishermen camped so close by. Thanks Guys

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys 2 роки тому

      The snow around that spot the moose was in was over 50” deep. That kind of snow leads the moose to exhaustion over time.

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys 2 роки тому +1

      I think we have a link to the battery box, it works really well. The length of charge depends on what you are using it for. For us it would’ve lasted about 4-5 days, so much longer than we were going to stay out there.

    ate they to small to keep?? if not why you releasing them

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys 2 роки тому

      That specific lake as a limit of one lake trout and one burbot per day. We ended up harvesting two burbot and let all the others go.
      We have plenty of fish in the freezer, so we thought it best to release all but the ones we would eat soon. Plus lake trout are slow growing fish and easily over harvested.
      Thanks for watching. Are you more of a catch and cook type or a catch snd release?

  • @doloreslee9330
    @doloreslee9330 2 роки тому +2

    Just wondering why do you put them back

    • @AlaskaBoys
      @AlaskaBoys 2 роки тому +2

      Lake trout can be very old fish, and are easy to overfish. The limit is one a day, so we try to let any fish go that isn’t mortally injured. Plus, Since we have a freezer full of moose and halibut, we don’t need the trout meat.

      @@AlaskaBoys thank you for answering me. I love watching your videos. Your wife’s grocery shopping with Evan and you taking your boys hunting and fishing. You are teaching them meaningful and useful lessons. I’m just curious and you don’t have to answer what kind of work do you do. I thought I heard you say you work with Native Americans.
